AMERICAblog: 125 out of 130 times McCain votes with pro-lifers

  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I've asked a number of PUMA's if they realize this about the man they support so vehemently and they ALL reply "Oh stop trying to scare people, we know that Roe V Wade will never be repealed".

    And then I shiver...
  • Mike_H · 1 year ago
Well, there is some justification to that idea, since the GOP recognizes that complete removal of Roe v. Wade would (a) turn women voters against the GOP like few other issues, and (b) would eliminate one of the main leashes the GOP has keeping the evangelicals on board.

And, in the long run, I think contraceptive science is likely to make enough strides in the next 10, 20 years or so where worrying about a candidates stance on abortion will be equivalent to worrying about whether or not we admit the next state as a free state or a slave state -- in other words, completely irrelevant. Which is a good thing, in my mind.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Yes, I recognize you amongst the Pumas's. I agree that the GOP uses Roe as an automatic fund raising tool along with a way to bond their base, HOWEVER the hard RIGHT wants it overturned and they have stacked the Court to their advantage. It won't take too much more to get the courts to overturn that decision and it will be done sooner rather than later I fear IF another Republican gets into office.

One more point, Roe is a crucially important issue for woman and men both. It is not merely about abortion but addresses civil rights and its ramifications for all sexes.

    Gee Mike_H,

How come you're "following" me now in Disqus? For some reason, I don't think it is because you want to discuss politics with me in an earnest fashion. Perhaps I am wrong here (it would NOT have been the first time), but something "feels" kinda creepy about this...

Feingold stood tall on Fisa and did his best to organize the troops against immunity for the telecoms.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Huh? What does this have to do with Roe V Wade?
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Quick, call NARAL or Emily's list. On second thought don't. They might endorse him.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I wouldn't be surprised these days...
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
I, for one, would prefer to hear those so-called 'pro lifers' referred as 'anti choicers'. Once you begin using 'newspeak' it creeps into your thought process.

McShame is one of those jerks who can't stand the thought of "wild oats" getting plowed under.

I detest most of the US Senators. if anything, they are the ELITIST who only care about protecting themselves.
It's the old boys club, or whatever it's called now with women like Feinstein.

I mean ,think about it. Even "liberal" Boxer, who I love, ended up campaigning for LIEberman. Why? Well, because they are "friends" after all.

I'm sick and tired of the current ELITIST Senate lot.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I agree and would nothing less than to clean house completely. I would love it if we could all kick every single senator and congressman and woman OUT of office and start out fresh.

I wonder what it would look like...
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Let's not forget another DINO, Bob "Yep, I Nailed Debra Winger" Kerrey, who just bitched out Obama the other day.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Well, it should be noted that the American wire coat hanger industry will THRIVE in the McCain Administration and the new Roberts Court! Think of the dozens of jobs that will be created!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
It's a horrendous thought and one that many women today aren't really familiar with.
  • Deacon_Blues · 1 year ago
Y'know John, I'm sure Sen. Feingold will chuckle to himself when he hears about one blogger ranting about his loyalty to the "club". He probably thinks that you're no more than an electronic flyspeck. And that there's no way that this could come back to haunt him. He would be wrong.

Michael Moore wrote a new column for Rolling Stone. He lists ways Democrats can blow the election. One way is to say nice things about McCain.

If you are a woman, McCain wants to take away some of your rights. Nuff said.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Chris, it's not just women who are affected by Roe, it has much to do with basic civil rights for all.
  • jr · 1 year ago
McCain's always been in the pocket of the Scofield Bible cult. He wants women handcuffed to the washing machine
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Feingold's behavior requires an explanation. It does not add up.
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
I read the Feingold statement on McCain and W.T.F?

What the hell is with Dems, especially after 8 years of Bush-have both the House and the Senate become such exclusive old boys clubs? They have to defend another member, even if the American people completely disagree with the policy positions and ideology? Too much!

    Polly_Tics:
All PUMAs need to know the founder of the group gave McCain a campaign donation in 2000, then gave Hillary ONE donation before she dropped out of the primary. Do they know PUMA is an undercover Republican operation? jus' sayin'.......
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Actually, there are TWO PUMA groups; one which was formed by a woman to whom you are referring (Darragh Murphy) called People United Means Action and a separate group that is called Party Unity My Ass (PUMA) that was formed in the beginning of June. The June group is a separate entity "I believe" and separate from the other PUMA group sorta kinda or so they have claimed.

Murphy admits donating to McCain, stating that the donation was only to help defeat George W. Bush in the primary (YEAH RIGHT). She says she voted for Al Gore in the general election (no one can check), although she did NOT donate to his campaign. She says she was "devastated when Bush stole the election" (Oh I just bet). Murphy has also been said to have donated $650 to Clinton's presidential campaign through Q2 2008.

The Party Unity My Ass group (founded by Will Bowers) is associated in some ways to JSNDC (Just Say No Deal Coalition) who sport the phrasing "Nobama, Not Now, Not Ever". They are a separate group of VERY angry & nasty people who are Hillary addicts (hear that Mike_H?), who hate and stalk Obama in a manner that is astoundingly cold. They have fostered (and perhaps even made up) MANY of the rumors you hear about in your emails today.

The other group which was formed by the woman Darragh Murphy, whose group's name comes from PEOPLE UNITED MEANS ACTION, is the official and legal PAC; not the coalition of Party Unity My Ass.

The PUMA acronym as originally coined stood for "Party Unity My Ass", however, the official political PAC is registered as "People United Means Action" and they are the ones who have done the deeds of which we speak. I THINK I have all of this correct, but it is all very convoluted, so I MAY have a fact or two slightly wrong. Hope I have helped clarify some of this idiocy surrounding the supposed Democratic groups who now are supporting Republicans in government.

    What a world...
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
Yea, I think they all are in the Larry Johnson category. He is vicious. Simply insane with Obama hatred.
    And 'former' Republicans.

Johnson used to be somewhat good, during the Plame scandal, for example. But him and Joe Wilson lost their minds over Hillary. It is astonishing.
Wilson in particular, because every other foreign policy wonk loves Obama.
I wish they would come to their senses.

Or take a good hard look at McCain. If not they have to be stupid.
I have lost all respect for Democrats or Hillary supporters who now support McCain.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I know Joe Wilson is/was a Hillary supporter, but say it ain't so, is he really crazy about Obama too? I used to love to read Larry Johnson and was stunned to read what he and his minions post on his site...I find it shocking, frankly. I can understand being disappointed your candidate didn't win, but this whole Clinton thing has gone through the roof...and I blame BOTH of the Clinton's for this as well! They just can't believe they actually LOST the nomination...so they pout and plan how to hurt the nominee.

How grown up and what a lesson they teach to everyone, eh? Heck, if you don't win, you plot against and start rumors to hurt the one in your party who did win.

Now don't break my heart...is Wilson really nutzo-weirdo over McCain V Obama? I'm going to have to do some googling...
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Sorry for such a lengthy reply!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Feingold MUST have a beef with Obama but if so, why does he need to hurt him now? Is he also so much in the tank for Clinton that he will sully his own name and reputation for the benefit of a couple of politicians that care more for their own power and riches than they do for the Party, the nation and its people.

What cretins! I'm going to write to Feingold as I'm on one of his email lists and give him a real talkin' too.

"Pro-life" is a loaded term. It implies that the pro-choicers are what? ANTI life?
    Pro DEATH?

We need to change the words "pro life" to "anti choice".
Otherwise they define us negatively by implying the opposite of their words.
