AMERICAblog: 128,000 may have died in Myanmar

It's criminal what the Myanmar govt is doing to the Burmese people and it reminds me of someone we all know. And, even with all the aid flown in during the 2004 earthquake and tsunami, 227,000 people died from its effects.

Sadly, though, the numbers of dead in Burma may result not from the weather, but from diseases like cholera, malaria, etc. brought on by the lack of clean water, sanitation, etc. For many Americans, being without electricity for 24 hours is hardship. We have no idea what it's like for the people in these far off places (made closer by TV and the internet), even when we see the devastation with our own eyes.

Even though we're going through a rough economic patch (which could have been prevented if the greed factor was excised), at least most of us have enough food, shelter, etc. which is sorely lacking in too many places in the world even without the effects of natural disasters. I'm of the mind that just because we're Americans doesn't mean that the lives of those we never see are not as valuable as our own, even if their own leaders could give a damn about them.

Katrina was a fine example of a so-called leader of the US treating people as though they DID live in a third world scenario. You just know that if it had been the Hamptons, help would have been available in an hour.

There's got to be a Billary connection somewhere here. I bet you she funded the corrupt Myanmar government when Slick Willy was porking young interns in the White House. God, the Clintons are sleazy.

Can you imagine how envious Bush is? He only killed some 1,500 in New Orleans after Katrina even though he didn't lift a finger for two weeks to help those people.
