AMERICAblog: ABC: HIllary will "drop out" on Friday

  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
    To little, too late.
  • helenahandbasket · 1 year ago
Well, Finally. Now it's time for Hillary to step up and get her supporters back on track.
  • davidkc · 1 year ago
If Hillary cares at all about the Democratic party, she will concede and she will be as gracious to Obama as Obama was to her. She should have done that last night, but as you say, whatever.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
So she's finally going to drop out...
is she also going to "turn on and tune in"?
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
What time? Memo to McAuliffe et al: please specify hour and minutes, so we can have an official countdown. (I am certain she will take a leaf out of Romney's book and merely suspend her campaign, lying in wait for the emergence of that Michelle "Whitey" tape or that Obama-Farrakhan-Pfleger 3-way Xtube production, or that thing, you know, that happened to RFK in June...)
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
Isn't that the news dump day?
  • dad · 1 year ago
i'll (still) give it to the end of this week.

this is not your Clinton's Democratic Party anymore.

    No strings attached?
    Take no hostages?
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
we've heard this before. I hope it happens this time. She has done so much damage, but watching Barack last night and in interviews today, being so gracious and kind, makes me realize even more how ready he will be on Day One. He is really, really good at making lemonade out of lemons, and I think he will even find a way to be thankful for the nonprincipled campaign that Hillary ran. For example---no World leader, no Putin or Iranian president, will be as much of a challenge as dealing with the vile tactics of the Clinton campaign. We've all learned a lot about what it means to be a Democrat. He gives us behavior and ideals to live up to.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
What the hell is keeping her from doing it now, I wonder? is this woman's ego so enormous that she thinks doing it on a Friday, probably close to 5:00 is going to spare her from feeling humiliated? Good grief, this woman is amazing. SHE was the one declared herself the inevitable nominee. SHE is the one who didn't give a shit about votes past Feb 5 when she expected her coronation and SHE was the one who chose to dig in her heels and become a cartoon character by refusing to leave the party long after the lights when out. This little delay is pitiful. So much for the canard that Hillary is one tough cookie. She is a coward who can't bring herself to do the right thing for her country and her party she claims to love so much. What a damn fraud she is. She is NO woman's role model.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
Hillary stomped all over a very historic moment in American history, so Friday is really meaningless. The time was last night. If she now drags this out to the Friday dump, then she has to completely concede and endorse Obama.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
Hillary will deliver on Friday what she should have presented last night.

Well, no wonder she lost the nomination primaries.
  • Bluestocking · 1 year ago
Concedes, drops out, packs it in...she can call it whatever she likes for all that I care, just as long as she finally recognizes that the handwriting is on the wall.

Now the $250,000 question is...will she do the honorable and ethical thing by urging her supporters to back Obama for the good of the Party and the country, or will she stab him in the back by conspicuously avoiding any mention of it and subtly encouraging her supporters to turn a cold shoulder?
  • davidkc · 1 year ago
I vote for "stab him in the back."
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
After hearing Dick Durbin on TV today, I really got pissed off. I can't remember his exact words, he insinuated that it was her ballgame, forgetting, of course, that Obama is the nominee.

As usual, it's all about HER. And she chose the Friday news dump--how ironic.

I think the American people should dump the Democratic leadership--they haven't grown a spine yet.
  • moxiegrrrl · 1 year ago
WILL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT.

    That is all.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
And why hasn't the Democratic leadership in the Congress already called it for Sen. Obama and loudly and firmly pronounced him the rightful nominee? Why are they dragging their feet and acting all "we-don't-know-shucks-gollygee".
Are they all that afraid that Hillary does carry a switchblade?

    Obama '08!
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
MSNBC reported that the Wall St. Journal says James Clyburn got a call from Bill, who called him some unsavory names. I'm sure Hillary is making her list of demands (and why is it taking 3 days?), as if she actually CAN make any demands of Obama.

The Clintons are SORE LOSERS. I love what Hilary Rosen said--she's not a bargaining chip, and neither should the Clinton voters be, either. Clinton doesn't own them--they're supposedly free to do as they please.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
Hillary is the prettiest girl in the Senate!

    :-|
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    LOL!
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
Who really thinks Hillary will drop out on Friday? She just wants to keep the conversation about her.
Hillary is ending her primary phase and starting her general election phase.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Everyone is acting as though Hillary Clinton did Obama a huge, generous favor at the AIPAC meeting today.

Hardly. I could see the wheels turning in her head...just another bargaining chip...a little ingratiating comment never hurt, huh, Hillary, if it gets you what you want. "My good friend, Obama" indeed. Liar.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    has McAuliffe contradicted this yet?
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
    Operative word: "Suspend"
That's what Fox noise just said (no, I don't watch fox; I was just flipping channels.)
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Now it's being reported by the NYT that Clinton is "suspending" her campaign.

    WTF????

    I'm boiling mad.
  • Apt604 · 1 year ago
I'm skeptical, but I hope you're right. The denial from the Clinton camp has gone from being sad-but-understandable, at first . . . to pathetic . . . to kinda creepy, at this point.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Is Terry McAuliffe porking the "next president of the United States?" For chrissakes, he knew Obama was the nominee. These people have absolutely NO class.

    Cheeeez.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
By Friday she will say that she is up to 20 million supporters and they are all just begging her not to give up.

Suspend to Hillary means she needs a weekend break.
  • fostert · 1 year ago
Is that link for real? I just get a blank page. Can someone fill me in on what it says?
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
What I heard was that she's not releasing her delegates as she "suspends" her campaign.

I like what Rachel Maddow said earlier - that the (disputable number of ) 18 million voters are not trained dogs who are waiting for their master, hillary, to give a signal of what they can (or can't) do. What an insult to those voters.
  • michaelt · 1 year ago
no, she dropped out last night when Obama won. she had a chance to be classy and she blew it.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
It's funny to still see the ad that says "Should Obama Quit?, tell us your opinion.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Everyone put on their mittens and pretended HRC was an uncracked soft-boiled egg with a very thin shell...gently, gently til she cools lest she crack outside her eggcup. ;-)
    The drama, Myrna, the drama...
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Unless she specifically says "concede," it doesn't mean anything. "Postponing" it or "dropping out" only means that it can start up on a moments notice or she can "drop in" again. She needs to use the correct wording to let her supporters know that they should get behind Obama and not wait around for her to get back in the race at a later date on some other excuse because she doesn't like where Obama is going, etc.
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Exactly Butch1. Her legacy is on the line. If she does not concede, and rally her troops (her troops?) behind Obama, and unite this party so we can throw out the neocon scum bag bottom feeding rat bastard rePIGlicans, then her legacy is toast - she will go down in history as a power hungry narcissistic pathological political whore - who's lust for power overrode the welfare of this country. She has ONE MORE CHANCE - and it will be her last chance - no, her very last chance (with Hillary you have to use a little Kafka).
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Stop me if you've heard this one .... did anyone notice that during last night's speechathon, Obama WAS wearing a flag lapel pin but McCain WAS NOT? Why does john Mc Cain hate America??
  • praying408 · 1 year ago
Heres the reason Obama had the flag pin on: Read on and you will understand :

Can this be so??? Remembering helps!

I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to repost this as many times as you can!
Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media outlet...do it!
A lot of Americans have become so insulated from reality that they imagine that America can suffer defeat without any inconvenience to themselves.
    Pause a moment, reflect back.
These events are actual events from history.
    They really happened!!!
    Do you remember?
    1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by Muslim male extremist between the ages of 17 and 40.

    2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    3. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    4. During the 1980's a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens, and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    9. In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    10. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    11. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists between the of 17 and 40.

    12. In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

    13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by-- you guessed it-- Muslim male extremists between the ages of 17 and 40.

No, I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people...
    Absolutely No Profiling!

They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss,

But leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.
According to The Book of Revelations:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.
    And Now:
    For the award winning
    Act of Stupidity
Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet --
The Presidency of the United states of America
    A Muslim
    Male
    Extremist
    Between
    The ages
    Of 17 and 40.

Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
I'm sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the 'unknown' candidate Obama...
Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other stupid attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense.
As the writer of the award winning story 'Forrest Gump' so aptly put it,
    'Stupid
    Is
    As
    Stupid Does.'
  • interlude · 1 year ago
lemme guess why on this particular friday:
because friday is the 6th and Bobby Kennedy was assassinated on the 5th,
ergo if Barack lasts that long, her four inferences on shootings and "anything can happen" will have played out....???
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
MSNBC says Obama not open to having her on the ticket. Whew.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
Largely dur to vetting problems with Bill Clinton.

From the article: "Clinton quickly emerged as the formidable frontrunner..."

Yeah, until the, you know, voting started.

  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Obama has a team vetting potential VP candidates. MSNBC reporting that staffers are saying it won't be Clinton.

If anything happens to Obama, the Clintons should be at the top of the "usual suspects" list...

Of course, Clinton is saying she is "entitled" to the VP slot. She's entitled to go straight to hell, too.
  • debbsmith · 1 year ago
More Hillary hating. How sad. Now you'll have to find someone else to blame Obama's failures on. Soon he'll pick some non-threatening, obscure white male to be his running mate, based on carefully parsed demographics but without any real appeal to the voters, and then we just sit back and watch him lose in November. At which time I'm sure you'll blame Hillary. Conveniently.
  • interlude · 1 year ago
well, debb we will have to wait for a failure, now, won't we?
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Sorry you feel that way Deb. Where was your hero last night when the country wanted her to concede? Oh, must be that fat ego of hers that got in the way. The difference between you Hillary supporters and Obama supporters is that we're Americans first - we don't idollize Obama, we just accept the fact he's the nominee. Any other path is dillusional.
  • Subroutine · 1 year ago
I think Barack threatened her with an ambassadorship to Dufar.
  • Bambleweeny57 · 1 year ago
And to her last breath she re-iterates how everything is about HER.
Just look at her letter to supporters here; http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/198827.php
I have NEVER seen so many "I"s in one place.

It's sad, she simply has no idea how self absorbed she is.
The fact that her Clintonistas cannot see her narcissism is a chilling reminder that even the land of the free is not immune from fascistic cults of personality.
