One of my colleagues a work told me about this piece this morning -- I was glad to hear it was getting traditional/corporate media coverage. This should scare all of the hockey moms watching "Good Morning America" (albeit not the fundie ones).

Agree with the poster above, however. This is all a distraction by design from McCain, who has zero character left after this stunt of picking a right-wing nutcase as his VP. He's so desperate to be president that he'll risk the country's welfare for his own ambitions. With his health history, that is very risky - country first, my ass.

paulbots: Think again of which " 1 party " has had control during the last 8 years of disaster. Why would you then not want to bring change and perhaps again enjoy what the Clinton years brought you? I must remind you that it was due to the Nader vote in Florida in 2004 ( Your 3rd. Party ) that gave us Bush/Cheney. Rethink your thesis of " VOTE 3rd. PARTY " before you inflict upon us another 4-8 years of Republican disaster.

Which state has been ripping off the American drivers? The state of Alaska has imposed and kept several windfall profit tax policies for the benefit of Alaska at the expense of the lower 48. They then looted the lower 48 for all that pork money for bridges (2) to nowhere and roads to nowhere and got $1,200 each in addition. Let's keep shouting USA, USA, for the Alaska pirates while paying outrageous gasoline and diesel prices.

Palin has been quoted as saying she fired the librarian "because she didn't support me." Even if, as the rumor had it, Palin never entered into the record an actual list of books she wanted banned, that statement is scary enough. Since when, in a non-communist country, is a librarian a political appointee? President Palin would probably nominate Monica Goodling to be attorney general.

it's essential for voters to understand the depths to which john mccain has sunk. this is much more about him than about sarah palin, who is just one of a huge army of fundy clones that we already know are out there. people need to know that mccain was willing to compromise the security of the country to improve his chances. character should be a big consideration for the presidency, and mccain obviously has none.

Wow, the original librarian was head of the State Library Association. That's an important point. Someone less engaged in library issues might have buckled under (maybe this was what Palin was expecting.) Still the poor woman who was fired then reinstated, eventually left after two years.

It's hard to come to grips with just how radical a rightwinger Palin is. This is really out of the ballpark. No wonder the people at the RNC were thrilled.

Having public officials censor material which does not conform to their Christian views takes all of us one step closer to a theocracy. America is a nation of many personal views and we should all have the freedom to live them as we choose as long as no one is getting hurt. It's irritating that some of these Christian voters cannot see past their own nose to realize their insistence for everyone else to live as they see fit is hypocritical, given that at some point they each had the freedom to make their own personal religious choice. I call it religious arrogance. The same type of religious arrogance that lead the attackers of 911 to believe what they were doing was for God and was righteous.

You need to calm down. I don't agree with your assertion. Does this make me dumb? I've worked multiple jobs my entire life. I went to night school because I couldn't afford to go to college as most others do. At the end of the day, I believe in the capitalist system. It works well. Obama and Biden border on being socialist. I don't mean it as an insult. It's just what they believe. I think they are dangerously short-sighte i their views. Do I think they're dumb? No. So take it easy my friend.

I stand by me comments. Just look at what we have in the White House. We didn't elect these idiots once but twice. Half of the American voters don't even know where these people stand on the issues. Hell, they don't even know where Washington DC is or that the DC stands for the District of Columbia. Just take a survey. You'll be surprise.

Wow! These comments are amazing. For every one negative story about McCain/Palin ther are ten more real ones for Obama/Biden. Your ticket is wildly weak and dangerous.

I just logged on to a liberal blog to see what's being discussed. Wow! I am amazed at the lack of substance. This race is over. McCain will be elected and your freedoms will be protected yet again against your will.

Both republicans have a history of turning the cannons on their own party. Your candidates? Never. That's the main reason your team will lose. The republican ticket is all about reform. And let's face it...this country needs reform. Our government is bloated. Both parties are out of control. Our governement is involved in far too much already....and I don't mean because of the war. I understand that smaller minds don't get the necessity for us to battle in Iraq. Putting that aside, we need to pair government back. All we're doing is producing welfare recipients.

There are too many people in the wheel barrel and not enough pushing it. At some point, the American people will rise up against fools like you.... And I think we're approaching that point.... Hence America's love affair with the republican ticket. Americans don't want to become wards of the state. Our poorest people are some of the richest in the world. We need to help all our brothers and sisters. But please let's stop all the crying....

Democrats just need to relax...Breath... Stop blaming others... And don't wait for the government to save you.... That's not what it's meant for.
