AMERICAblog: About that economic crisis John McCain doesn't want to discuss: Dow drops 733

    Jesus fuck me sideways in traffic...I will never retire at this rate. I wonder how many people who will vote for these two assholes, Magoo and Caribou, will have no retirement either because of what their beloved GOP has done to this economy.

    "Mr. Magoo and Caribou"....has a nice ring to it!!

    This wipes out the gains of the other day. It's also how the bad time start- lack of credit and huge, volatile swings in the market.

    I’m really too scared to look at my 401K balance, and I already know I’m likely to be working until I’m well into my nineties at the way things are shaping up. I just hope to god Wal-Mart is still hiring greeters then.

    As to how desperate McCain is becoming, there are reports he’s even asking Hillary Clinton for advice on the economy, and probably what his strategy should be. I mean he’s got only hours to come up with a workable plan.

    Just think, the Dow dropping like this, each and every day, it's only 11 days until we find the bottom of the market.
    Literally.

    Quick, QUICK, throw another $700 billion dollars on the fire! That should tamp it down somewhat.

    I was hoping to retire in a little villa on the Northern Coast of Italy.....at this rate.....I'll be lucky enough to eat out once a week at the Olive Garden.

    :)
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
    Olive Garden?!?! I was hoping to have enough left over this month to enjoy the Panda Express for the first time in six months.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    Costco ramen noodles here...

    we probably would've filed for bankrupcy months ago... but thanks to restrictions on that (thank you once again repugs)... we'll probably just sell everything we can and live on someone's floor for a while.

    seriously, its that bad.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
    Yep! You guessed what I'm eating right now. {g} Oh, that was you who bumped my cart at Costco this morning. {g} Pretty good when you jazz it up a bit. Garlic, green onions, ginger, some carefully counted Costco, frozen shrimp, bit of chile powder, etc. My favorite is Nong Shim, the Korean stuff, but that costs 4 times as much, and with the stuff I add, it comes pretty close to the same taste. By eating the Top Ramen instead, I'm hoping I can afford the Panda Express this month.

    Maybe if we both eat enough Ramen, we can meet at the end of the month at Panda Express. {g} I never forget a face so I'll key your car in the parking lot. {g}

    Dammit! Every day I click on this website and hope for the news that Bush and Cheney have been arrested and are going to be tried. What the hell is the matter with the world. OJ Simpson is not even a peanut compared to these vile, bloodthirsty thieving murderers. I mean, come on. Not only did they kill, but they were caught in act and drinking the victims blood and laughing about it. And teaching McCain and Palin how to do it after they run off to Paraguay. OJ killed two poeple, but Bush and Cheney ...

    {Sigh!}

    It ain't never gonna happen is it? Ain't no sanity, decency, honor left in the world. No guts! No one has the balls to arrest these monsters and send them to jail.

    {Sigh!}

    down 500... then up 900... then down 733...

    hmm... I see a trend here.

    "last throes"?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    while we're talking about 'golden parachutes'... considering NOBODY has a pension scheme anymore, and 401K's are more like .401K's now...

    I think the first thing should be doing away with 'golden parachutes' for people who got us into this mess... starting with POTUS/VP lifetime full benefit healthcare packages... then continuing on to those same packages in Congress.

    hell, if private firms are allowed to renegotiate pension schemes AFTER you've retired... why can't we cut off the freeloading ex politicians?

    we can't afford them.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
    not sure how you get from "last throes" to golden parachutes ... unless you're advocating stripping the parachutes off those fuckers and throwing them off the plane... or maybe making the parachutes out of actual gold --- lots of it --- and letting them jump off of their own volition...

    This couldn't have come at a worse time for McCain...with the market back up the last couple of days, I was thinking McSame would be saying "see! It's working! the economy is rebounding! Now, about William Ayers..."

    Gotta suck at the McSame camp right about now...Gosh darnit!

    Nothing to see here....

    Move along.....

    My step father has lost at least 50K of his retirement already....Another friend of mine has lost 25K and my step father's ex-wife lost ALL of her retirement when WA MU went down in flames.

    Why do they always have to show the face of a trader who's had a bad day? Why can't they ever show the face of an INVESTOR who's just lost everything?

    Not to be a DEBBIE DOWNER, but you know that $700 million "bailout" package that was just passed?

    Well, you didn't really think it was in the million, now did you?
    Actually, the real cost to US, We The People, is waaaaaay higher.

    The cost is not $700 million but $2.25 TRILLION!

    http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/15/dr...

    "All told, the potential cost to the government of the latest bailout package comes to $2.25 trillion, triple the size of the original $700 billion rescue package, which centered on buying distressed assets from banks. The latest show of government firepower is an abrupt about-face for Mr. Paulson, who just days earlier was discouraging the idea of capital injections for banks."

    YUP, we have been had once again!
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
    which centered on buying distressed assets from banks.

    I don't believe it for a second. Only place they are going to inject that money is into their own pockets. They don't give a flying F**** about the economy. Why should they when the are going to steal trillions of dollars. Why, why, why doesn't anyone have the balls to arrest this crooks and throw them into jail?

    Anyone believe they are going to use that money to save our economy, well, you must have bought the Brooklyn Bridge to say nothing of London Bridge, Golden Gate, etc. many, many times in your life.
