AMERICAblog: Adam Bink: DNC Treats LGBT Community As Awkward Party Crasher

  • usagi · 3 weeks ago
See, they used to be able to get away with this shit. Really. Who's actually going to hear about it except one or two people "in the know" who don't have a public platform? No more. This is still only nibbling around the edges of their actual support, but it's three years to the next presidential election. There's a lot more support to bleed.

I'm currently in the "hoping he loses a second term on his own lack of merit" camp. Another year like this one and I'll be over in the actively working to elect someone else group. You see, if the choice is between a Republican and a Republican-lite, why shouldn't I just vote for the Republican and be done with it (or rather vote for someone who's earned my vote and by virtue of the two party system have the same effect)? What's the awful consequence? They won't press to end DADT? They won't fight for ENDA? They won't stand for equity at the state level? (I guess they could strip Harvey Milk of the Medal of Honor out of spite, but he's really beyond caring, isn't he?)

Someone at the DNC really ought to have a large cup of Wake-the-fuck-up and share it with someone in the Whitehouse who has the ear of the President. The 2012 campaign starts this time next year and there is no reason to kick it off with a bunch of people who should be your natural allies snipping at you, which is pretty much where I see all of the A-list online gays at this point. Oddly enough, this will require taking some ACTION in order to EARN their support back. I know this is an alien concept to Democratic strategists, but they should get up to speed on it quickly, because if they think the gays are trouble now, wait until they see what happens to a much larger chunk of the party faithful if they fuck up healthcare reform.

Healthcare reform is just another program to disqualify gay citizens from.

I bet we get to pay for it, though.

It's not like crashing a party. It's like being the friend (with the pickup truck and the strong back) of the guy with a lot of crap who is constantly moving from this place to that. After years and years of this, you finally call that friend and ask him to help you move.

"Sorry, man. I'd like to help but I'm busy that weekend."

    Yeah, I call'em "users."

It was a "glitch" alright. Just like Donny McClurkin and Rick Warren. I'm sure Obama didn't mean to say all those times that he is opposed to gay marriage. I'm sure some "glitch" is making it look like Obama is not a fierce advocate for gay rights when he actually is. And those papers with all that ugly stuff equating gays to pedophiles that his administration filed in defense of DOMA.... now THERE was a glitch!

I just sent this to the "Contact Us" page at www.democrat.org. I invite you to do the same...
    -------------------
    Your Home Page says:

    "What We Stand For

"The Democratic Party is committed to keeping...expanding opportunity for every American."

Clearly, you forgot to write "...except GAYS."

We were active in supporting you, sweeping you into the White House, and majorities in the Congress. And you treat us like dirt.

Well, I'll be active next election cycle, but not one DIME for DNC until you stop treating us like an ATM. We should not be having to deal with elections, we should have National Legislation, because this is a CIVIL RIGHTS issue.

Did Blacks have to get VOTES to have RIGHTS? No, our forebears knew they needed to clarify the law to protect the interests of 13% of the population. Now, what about OUR 10%?

    Democrats stand for choice.

You can choose the back of the bus, or under it.

The idea that a group if citizens are allowed to vote to deny equal rights to another group of citizens...in America.... is shocking. Even more shocking is the silence from our elected officials, including the President ,supposedly, of ALL the people. The Presidents actions by his DOJ defending DOMA, his ignoring DADT speak loud and clear.

Here is a thought. Find a different party to go to where you're not the awkward party crasher.
