AMERICAblog: After six years in the Senate, Norm Coleman can't (or won't) answer simple question

  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Norm Coleman has a wife? Are you sure his wife isn't just a beard?

He gives off that creepy Larry Craig vibe, if ya know what I mean!

I heard his wife and Larry Craig's wife started a support group for wives married to homophobic congressmen who hate the gays because they think voting against them makes them look straight.
  • MnDem · 1 year ago
Norm's not gay. As Mickey7 points out, he's got quite a reputation around the cities.

I think one of the bigger narratives in this campaign is how much the legendary disciplined Republican message machine has broken down. This clown can't even say Minnesota's Republican Senator will support Republican candidate for President, John McCain's health care plan!

Wow, they are certainly in disarray!

    Al Franken for U.S. SENATOR!

Dino (what the fuck kind of name is that, anyway.... is this the fifties of Leave it to Beaver that the Repukes always wish was real?) Rossi is running against Gregoire in WA State for Governor.
Now, I'm not what I would call the biggest fan of Gregoire, however:
Dino Rossi went to court to keep the (R) and any reference to Republican off the ballot and got them to put:
Rossi prefers GOP on the ticket instead.

A total slimeball, and a gutless sack of shit who is hoping to trick his way into the Governor's mansion.
    What a pantload.

They are in disarray Cowboy. This might be the last stand of the Republican party as the world has known it. The party no longer serves a purpose to a changing America. As we become more diverse as a country, and the gap between rich and poor widens, people automatically identify with the Democratic party. The Republican party is branded forever. We're witnessing the changing of the guard.

    question about the Palin rally.....
how did the Secret Service respond to the threat on a candidates life?
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Good question interlude: The secret service is on it! They look for this type of outbreak, and the general thinking is that if you're not afraid to say it in public, you're not afriad to carry it out. The Obama campaign, very secretly, also presses for a follow up when these things occur. The task of the secret service is to take these threats quite seriously, and Palin's rhetoric is the topic of discussion behind closed doors on that level as we speak.

What have you head that this is happening? Or is this conjecture on speculation??

p.s. i'm not trying to call you on this..... im curious, because i heard a person shouting in the audience at a palin rally - "kill him"
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Not speculation or conjecture--simply protocol of the secret service, and especially in the case of Obama being a black candidate. These things are watched very closely and followed up on immediately.

The next phase of scrutiny will be aimed at Palin! Is she trying to incite these things on purpose?! While candidates are given a lot of latitude, they have to be careful not to incite these kind of responses from the crowds.

You're not going to hear of these things in the MSM--trust me on this one.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
The Secret Service is interested in legitimate information relating to threats, plans or attempts by individuals, groups or organizations to harm Secret Service protectees. However, the agency does not desire or solicit information pertaining to individuals or groups expressing legitimate criticism of, or political opposition to, the policies and decisions of the government or government officials.

The above is the job description, and keyword is "legitimate". What they hear in the open is classified under legitimate. These folks don't sit around and drink coffee and dunk donuts all day--believe me.

You can also expect the press to begin to pick up on the fact that Palin's rallies are beginning to look more and more like Klan gatherings. She stresses Hockey moms and Joe six-pack for a reason. Reference Palin's remarks about Obama, "He not like you and me." "He doesn't see America as we see it."

0-diversity in her crowds. Not what I would call the face of America in the least.

Kashkari, a diehard ultra-conservative, immediately starts dogging Hillary Clinton. He said “I’d never vote for her because I don’t think women should be president.” Verbatim.

My SO defended women’s rights, but Kashkari wouldn’t have it. He insisted women should never be leaders. Kashkari’s own SO said earlier, that although she had a career, “I basically follow Neel around wherever he goes.” Verbatim. Meaning she’d uproot her job whenever he felt like moving on. I thought that was interesting as well.

Kaskhari then said global warming doesn't exist. He said wind energy is stupid. And he would look up things on his Blackberry whenever my SO said something, to prove him wrong.

Because he didn’t like non-conservatives, or anyone with an open mind, or apparently even those who believe in gender equality, he was angry with my SO. He later went to our mutual friend and said my SO had talked about being abducted by aliens! Yes, Neel Kashkari - head of $700B bailout, said this, in an attempt to attack someone he disagreed with.

This is the person the GOP wants to manage your money. I assume sooner or later, he may run for office. Now THAT would be a scary day.

Smarmy doesn't begin to describe it. I posted about a (thankfully) brief personal experience with him on my blog last year: http://mickeymusing.vox.com/library/post/senato...

He's got an interesting history and quite a reputation around the Minneapolis area for his infidelities. He is totally in the pocket of John Goodman, a very wealthy Minneapolis restaurant chain owner and all around douchebag who communicates with his own father through attorneys. Yeah, they're that kind of people. Family values and all that.

I'm glad you posted this. I have a friend in her early 20's who he got a little too friendly with in a bar earlier this year. She's not a tall blond, though - she's short and Asian. Maybe he was looking for a little "diversity".
She brushed him off, and then called me to tell me. We both had a good laugh.

I just watched another one of those LAME ASSED debates Larry King tries to host on his show. Note to Larry: STOP.IT. Larry King does a horrible job of moderating debates. He also needs to stop hosting that overbearing, aggressive bitch, Karen Hughes. I'm sick to death of hearing what a great, and nice person she is, as well. I don't have any love for anyone who had such a big role in giving us the disastrous Bu$h years, and he wouldn't have happened if she hadn't spoken for, and LIED for him so much during 2000. It seems like every four years ol' Sasquatch gets trotted out again for the Republican ticket, and I say she has done ENOUGH damage with her lying talking points and aggressive yapping.

I think Coleman should be asked why he did hearings for the UN Oil for cash scandal, but even touch even worse corruption with the US occupation of Iraq. (I think Christopher Shays (R-Conn) was the only Republican to do hearings before the Dems took over in 2006)..

The great thing about this blog, is that it makes you aware, over time, of how often talking heads will evade a question. I love it when a reporter continues to ask the same question and the talking head squirms for an answer. I think, there is a growing movment in the press to push the need to get a question answered....any question answered.

Joe, this reminds me of Tom Feeney, the GOP Congressman whose district includes Orlando. He's been reduced to running ads in which he apologizes for accepting a junket to Scotland paid for by Jack Abramoff. His ad calls it a "rookie mistake" even though he's been in politics long enough to have run for lieutenant governor on Jeb Bush's ticket in 1994.

I don't live in his district, but I hope the voters who do see through the hypocrisy. Feeney didn't know until afterward that Abramoff paid for his trip? Well, he knew he didn't pay for his own expenses, didn't he? So he wasn't even curious about who did?
