AMERICAblog: AMA blames GOP for Medicare cuts

  • Vince in Cedar Rapids · 1 year ago
Yet amazingly, a certain percentage of affected seniors will still vote for McCain because they are convinced that republicans are on a higher moral ground. Let's hope many of them finally learn this time around that republicans are NOT their friends.

The republicans are trying to kill us all.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
Ah, the Grand "Old" Party!! Living a long and healthy life is an entitlement benefit from their point of view...........
  • bosdav · 1 year ago
They deserve everything they voted for.

The republicans are pure evil, raw power and greed all covered in balloons and ribbons--Frank Zappa

Last month went for my annual physical (I'm not YET on Medicare) and was estatic to find out my doc is a BIG supporter of Obama.........

So is mine. They realize that some kind of national health care is needed. They are on the front lines and they really try to help patients.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
So we don't have National Health Care because the doctors and the Insurance companies want to make more money. Makes sense to me. Why worry about the wishes of the majority.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Well, it's like 90% of the people don't want genetically modified food. They say, NO! ADM says, "yes." We now have GMAs in over 400 products now.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    GMOs
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
ADM wont allow GMO products to be labeled as such.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
In Pa. milk cannot be labelled as free from growth hormones. So now you can't tell what you are drinking. Our right to choose what we ingest is another thing the GOP has removed. Wonder how much the politicians were paid for this little change.
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
Hope all those seniors don't mind being considered "charity cases".......lucky to find ANY doctor willing to accept the meager Medicare payments..........wonder how many corp. execs would be willing to accept a 10% CUT IN PAY now and ANOTHER 5% next year........but we expect doctors to to just that.............best health care system in the world my old ass......

The AMA owns the Republican Partei. Why the posturing? They're up to something that won't play nice in the long run. Guaranteed!

Remember a few years back when the seniors attacked a congressman when he was trying to leave his office. The old people were beating up on his car. That was funny. Now that I am old I can and do see their point. Make sure you spread the word out to all seniors and flood the house and senate. I have a Repuke Senator Corker from TN. He got in because he used racist ads against a fine congressman who was going for senate. You see what happens here in TN that old people here are like deer looking at the headlights of an oncoming car. If your young make sure you tell your grandparents and parents about this repuke position. This alone will help dems win in Nov. All you got to remember if old people lose medicare it will be their families will have to care for them. That alone will scare families into doing something.

"we'll treat ourselves with a home remedies book as long as gays can't get married and women can't have abortions"-seniors who vote for repubs

Hey, for the 4-1/2 minutes of the doctors time you get their incomes are pretty good.

    http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Family_...

It works out to $70 per hour. Although when you get 5 minutes of time with him the overall income is higher to the office to cover staff, etc. Then they get to run as many tests as they can.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
You are right. But the doctors also have to pay a lot of overhead. They have to pay their staff's wages. Than they have a big chunk of change for insurance in case they are sued. They aren't the problem. Its the insurance companies that are the main problem.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
But the doctors resist Universal Plans which could reduce insurance premiums, remove bad debt/collection problems. When they do their billings the office receives much more than $70 an hour. We need to change the system and so far no one is advocating that.

This will also mean that cash-strapped seniors (esp. the 1/3 who have no other income but SS) will have to pay more out of pocket expenses.

So, less doctors' care, less food, less gas...less of everything for seniors.

"The advertisements, by the American Medical Association, urge Senate Republicans to reverse themselves and help pass legislation to fend off the cut."

There are two chances of that happening: None and none.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Now this is very interesting. Many physicians voted republican and lean that way. To now have them complaining about how republicans are hurting their businesses, makes me smile. This is not going to be a good year for republicans, period.
