Look around, Jim does something that Democrats in North Carolina have a hard time doing - giving straight answers that please progressives. He deserves support.
  • jr · 1 year ago
Please donate or volunteer for Jim. More and better Democrats!
  • NCMike · 1 year ago
I've had the privilege to meet Jim a number of times over the last few months and marched with him in the MLK Day parade back in January. He is without a doubt one of the most principled and passionate advocates for Progressive ideals we have in the state.

    He's a liberal and a single dad. Uh-oh, I think I'm having a man-crush!! 8^)

Did anyone catch the latest: Hillary is calling for Bush to boycott the Olympic opening ceremonies, lol. from http://www.drudgereport.com/

Give me a break. The whole concept of the Olympics was designed to transcend politics. Even when they were held in Nazi Germany, we put aside our differences and joined as a symbol of athletic unity. The American public is so sick of the divisive Clintonion partisanship. At least Obama is willing to work with the Republicans and stop the petty bickering with the Chinese also. Obama = unity while Hillary = hateful partisanship.
  • Jamra · 1 year ago
Re: Jim Neal, unfortunately the Republicans are going to have a field day because of his identifiable lisp. Why do we always do this to ourselves?
  • KelvinMace · 1 year ago
    Lisp?

    I haven't noticed one.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Jamra, the US boycotted the Olympics before. Jimmy Carter boycotted the 1980 Moscow Olympics to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

    He did the right thing.

Unfortunately in today's world, politics cannot be seperated from athletics.

Obama should issue a statement boycotting the Olympics too.
  • Jamra · 1 year ago
Tom3, yes I know that. But since Billary has come out supporting the current boycott, we need to question her motives. Are you aware that she photo-shopped Obama's skin color and nose size in a negative ad in order to stir up racism? I don't trust someone like that or her supporters. Racism is wrong.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Hilllary won't boycott the Olympics. She loves the Chinese and their brutal totalitarianism. She's probably jealous.

Anybody who beats up that cracker Carville is okay in my book.

Carville's been literally sleeping with the enemy for over a decade.

He's a party traitor and cannot be trusted.

Will Obama campaign for Jim? will he bring Rev. McClurkin with him?
  • Nelson · 1 year ago
I think it says volumes that Democrats are finally running against James Carville

    Thanks for the boost!

We have been trying like mad to drum up support from the blogosphere for Neal. He faces an opponent who, in many opinions, was drafted at the last minutes when the Dixiecrats running the NC party discovered that Neal was "teh gay".

She also LOVES her some FISA immunity for telcoms.

What drew a lot of people to Jim's campaign is that, in a year when Elizabeth Dole should have Bush's failures hung around her neck, no big name politician in North Carolina stood up to run against her. It was infuriating to those of us who want a strong voice for the people. Then Jim stepped up as a regular guy, a smart guy, an honest guy, and many of us said Yes! Like Larry Kissell, another non-politician who nearly won a Congressional seat and is now running strong for the same one - the people want to back someone who will stand up for the people's interests instead of the corporations. Sadly, the other, party -picked Dem for the primary is more experienced in making corporate PACs happy, but even she isn't raising the millions needed to beat Dole. I am just a lowly volunteer, but really want to encourage people to help, with such a short time to get the job done to reach the voters. He is the kind of Democrat we are looking for.
He is a lot of fun to work with, too. He doesn't think anyone owes him this election.

One thing I love about North Carolinians is that we can very quickly parse people into one of two camps: there are Talkers and there are Do'ers. You are either one or the other and we know what you are. From what I've witnessed being around Jim Neal, he's a Do'er.

He was the first Democrat to step up to take on Elizabeth Dole. He is the only candidate pledging to visit every county in the state to take this election to the people (and he's delivering on that promise). He's started his own business and knows what it takes to make payroll. And best of all, he's not a career politician beholden to the powers that be.

I find his straight talk refreshing and think he's the perfect candidate for the Year of Change ..... 2008

Wow. I contributed. Never thought I'd see the day when an openly gay man ran for the Senate. Let alone in the South. Wonderful.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Go Jim! Last week I challenged Abloggers to match my little $20.

Just gave another $20 and again challenge all you folks to match me.

OT: But a big shout out to the protesters scaling the Golden Gate Bridge and unfurling their banners. Non-violent and awesome! Bravo! Hope you all have a safe climb down.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
That is awesome folks! I checked the ActBlue page and it looks to me like almost $1000 was raised on Ablog just today, most of that from just a handful of people at that. I still challenge folks to give even $20. Let's see a few more donors before the day is out.

Disclaimer: I don't know Jim, never met him, never corresponded with him and I am not friends with anybody in his campaign. I have read about him though, and know that he is the kind of Democrat I want to see win the nomination and then slaughter Dole in the general election.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
BTW, I will say that these are the kind of campaigns I'll be supporting this year. Some, like Jim's, are through and through progressives but underdogs in their red states. Others may lean more moderate, like our hottie cowboy Kleeb in Nebraska, Scott is the best man in the race so I'll send a little love again this year.

No money whatsoever will be going to the leadership or any 'safe' races. Some donations will be made directly to the campaigns and some through ActBlue when I feel like a blog effort deserves it.

With that, find yourself some candidates you want to help, budget, and help them out. Volunteer if you can't afford money right now or even if you can.
