    I'm guessing McCain wishes there were more 70-somethings in uniform and serving in our embassies in Iraq. But I guess expecting senior citizens to scream and holler might be considered elder abuse. The only enthusiastic crowds McCain attracted in Iraq thought he modeling and selling body armor.

    I don't think the GOP leadership is too upset.
    They've known from the beginning that the majority of the country rejects their policies and the mess their idgit in chief has created. That's why they're going with McCain and saving their better candidates for another day.
    And after the election - which will be an Obama landslide - they and their flunkies in the press will try to block all of President Obama's efforts, hoping to hobble him, make him liable for the catastrophes of Bush's terrible reign, and in that way win back the WH in 4 years...and then they will run a viable candidate.
    They know it's over this go 'round. Hence, Grampa.

    Yeah you are probably right. McSame is the Bob Dole candidate. The GOP now
    sees how Bush fucked them but good and they really cannot put too much hope
    into this one. This must be why there were no really great GOP primary
    candidates. They sat it out and let the Mormon Magic Underwear and the
    Jeebus Jenny Craig go for it. The decent ones sat it out. Just watch the far
    right give Obama zero chance.

    mirth has just made a great case for that landslide to include an obstruction ( by the Republicans ) proof congress. We must have a large congressional mandate to evade the Republican obstructions which are sure to come. Only a presidential win is insufficient if progress is to be made.

    I caution mirth that he/she may be impressed by those media outlets he views and hears. Why are the polls so close? It would seem that a minimum 10% lead should be in effect if the commentaries are reflective of the reality. mirth, beware of slanted optimism.

    Karen just watched Tweety actually, in all seriousness, ask Mrs. Greenspan (as if she would know), if all those black soldiers were representative of Obama's support in the military--and, by implication, if white soldiers would turn out to support him. Mrs. Greenspan carried on with her vile meme that all the footage was "fake" since it was supplied by military Public Affairs, rather than her.

    Being cautious by nature, I hope and pray that Obama continues to WOW people, and that he stays in the race untainted by smears and attacks. This is really incredible. He is loved all over the world, and if only people would open their minds, and vote him as President, we would be able to regain some of the respect and love, we used to have, from around the world, until two disgusting, war criminals, took over this country.
