AMERICAblog: Anchorage Daily News on Palin: "In plain English, she did something 'unlawful.' She broke the state ethics law."

  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
My husband lived in Anchorage for fifteen years and told me that his pals up there say she stole her election to the Governor's job by lying, and pulling "Ann Richards" shit ala Karl Rove to claw her way there. Anyone with half a brain in Alaska hates her guts.
  • larz · 1 year ago
The most recent poll in Alaska shows Obama 39% and McCain at 55%. What's interesting is that Bush took this state 62% - 35% over Kerry. I thought Palin had a huge favorable rating. Maybe this national spotlight is putting her in a new light and they are turning on her. If 4 out of 10 people won't vote for her in her own traditionally red state, can she get re-elected in 2 years? I'm guessing this campaign is the beginning of the end of her political career.

I have no faith in ANY poll. They are calling landlines. Landlines are for
    people over 60.

    I resemble that remark. ☺

I have been called twice by Rasmussen on my cell phone.

To date there's been no proof she's ever read anything but a teleprompter. Even less proof she retained anything.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
She has got to have some kind of mental disorder........just because she can't read doesn't mean the rest of us can't......maybe someone could read the report's findings to her and let her know the rest of us have read it.
  • michaelt · 1 year ago
read the comments defending her. i get the feeling comprehending what has been read isn't the most successful acitivity in alaska.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Too bad for McCain that he lost control of his campaign and couldn't run with his own choice for VP.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
I hope that report had the courage to support our troops. Their bravery gave legislators the right to make reports and governor wanna bes the right to have state contract bidders erect freebie houses (quid pro domus).

Maybe we will see McCain's temper in action at tomorrow nite's debate:

Speaking on St. Louis radio, the candidate(McCain) says Obama’s recent comments have “probably ensured” the former Weather Underground leader will come up in Wednesday’s debate.

“I was astonished to hear him say that he was surprised I didn’t have the guts” to talk about Ayers last week.

    http://thepage.time.com/2008/10/14/mccain-last-...

So McCoward is gonna show us his guts tomorrow nite?...hah....he must be steaming.

Might be a good time to roll out G. Gordon Liddy, McCain's good buddy.
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
Character assassination by association will be an utter failure for mccain, not that his campaign is already done for.... should be a good show.... maybe this is where he blows a gasket. Obama will let him do it all by himself.

As everyone knows, sex sells. We are deluged with sex on TV, everywhere. I just wasn't expecting to see it on AmericaBlog. I like to think of AmericaBlog as a thoughtful, insightful look into politcal matters, not as a platform for yet more sexual ads.

Am I missing something? When a law is
broken is there not some sort of consequence
for the culprit? Or does that only apply to
    the working class?
America has change so much in the last
    eight year.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
The rich are above all laws now. But take care...November 4th may be Bastille Day.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
She didn't read it unless they fed it to her teleprompter so she could wink and nod and point while she denied doing anything wrong.
  • benb · 1 year ago
Score 1 for the McCain campaign. Had Palin been deposed she would have surely been nailed for perjury.

"Bible Spice, yes this is an intervention. Now, honey, put down your bible. Yes, the shotgun, too. My friends, she needs our help. Repeat after us, Sarah: I broke the law. Say it slowly. Then say it again. You can do it! That's it! Now again. Oh, Spice, we're proud of you. And so must the Lord be. The truth shall set you free. This is truly an epiphany for our devout Christian lady."

(Thank God I live in CT. Getting hitched November 1st, then kicking GOP ass on the 4th. Glory!)
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
I am so proud to have lived in CT for most of my adult life. I am proud of your state. Hopefully this bullshit in CA will be defeated. Given about six to eight states, the US SCOTUS will have to deal with this issue once and for all.
  • CTloathesJoe · 1 year ago
You're in Big D. Wow. I'm a Fort Worth native, born and raised. Met my
husband in '95 in Dallas. Left in 2000 and now live in NYC and NW Hilles of
CT, not 3 miles from the Mass border. And what else is great about getting
a CT license is that NY State will recognize it. How lucky are we?!
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
I am so happy for you guys. I think if Obama is really smart, he will work
carefully in his first term to avoid this overtly. THEN in a second term, he
could pull out all the stops on this issue. I just want us to go carefully
now. Get him elected twice. And then he can put some real minds on the
SCOTUS and shut Tony "Do you sodomize your wife" Scalia the fuck up. As well
as Clarence Uncle Thomas. There is hope out there. But we must be patient a
bit longer. I know my gay brothers and sisters hate that idea. But this
could be the time when our rights could finally come to fruition with a
President who can change the High Court.

I wholeheartedly agree! I appreciate your kind wishes. I know I am damn
lucky up here. My partner's company was the first in its industry (1998) to
give partner benefits. They treat me like a spouse and I've got great
benies, have traveled with him all over the globe, and feel like this should
be the norm for us all. I always thank his top brass for their truly
compassionate and equality-minded corporate mission. (100 on HRC scale).
There's talk here of a mass 'Homo Hitching' on November 1st. My family is
so excited that they cannot stop calling. Yes, my Texas family is true
    blue - all the way.
And this morning, what did I do? I went and worked on the organic farm,
doing chores for our weekly food allotment next summer.
    Yes, I am damn fortunate.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Lucky you... near any kind of farm. When the oil runs out, the North
Dallas/Plano Princesses, who buy their tacky faux Chanel at Niemans, are
going to be fucked because there will be no more supermarkets. The SUV
revival here is sickening...gas dropped under three dollars and the SUVs
started flying outta the dealerships again. I miss the fall foliage!!!!!

Congratulations. My spouse and I were married in CA on Aug. 16 after 36 years together.
  • CTloathesJoe · 1 year ago
Thank you. And congrats to you. I just last week gave $100 to No on 8.
Mormons make me sick! Plus, due to the scheme of CT legislative processes,
it'll likely be Nov. 7th before licenses can be issued here. Which is
fine: kick ass on the 4th, marry on Saturday the 8th. Not a bad week!
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Blessings on you! And if the wingnuts come up with a similar initiative in CT, I will match your handsome gift to CA no on eight.
    Yes, Mormons are nauseous.

This comment from John Cole's site:

"Everyone bitched incessantly (me included) about what a worthless (fill in the slur) Hillary was during the primary, bringing up the sludge and slime. But really, I think this has innoculated Obama from these charges now. IOW, Hillary has helped Obama by already making these Ayers and Wright allegations OLD NEWS. And the media HATES OLD NEWS."

I vote for Orwellian. This woman has no integrity. She will say/do anything to get to the White House. If I were John McCain I'd be looking over my shoulder.

Can we put a moratorium on the use of the phrase "Orwellian"? Craven, naked lying isn't Orwellian, it's what four year olds do when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

I'm glad to see you folks care about court proceedings and how they turn out. I am interested in seeing how the Berg v. Obama/DNC case turns out. May end up on the Supreme Court.
