AMERICAblog: Another excellent message from Rep. Alan Grayson

  • synical · 2 months ago
Now that, my friends, is an excellent example of advocacy! No BS, straight talking, tell-it-like-it-is advocacy. The thing I admire about Grayson is that he speaks for the moment. He doesn't speak for the future, he doesn't worry about how this may or may not affect his political options in the future. That's what America needs.
  • demwoman · 2 months ago
Forget "Republican Faces" - the DNC ought to be running THIS on the TV 24/7!

    All 4:02 of it!
  • osage · 2 months ago
Grayson is making it PERSONAL by eliminating the facade of civility between politicians who look at their "competition" as a game without victims rather than life and death issues that destroy REAL PEOPLE'S lives. Every time President Obama has referred to one of the Republican obstructionists as "my good friend" I've wanted to puke because they are CAUSING or PERPETUATING death and the destruction of peoples lives. WHY would any moral human being find any reason for civility with someone who DELIBERATELY enables death and the destruction of people's lives? Mr. Grayson is calling out Democrats and Republicans for destroying lives with political gamesmanship. Creating and or allowing death and destruction and claiming it's not personal; it's just politics, is what Republicans and Democrats are doing. And Mr. Grayson is telling both Democrats and Republicans is that the POLITICS is IMMORAL!!!

Alan Grayson for President! I LOVE this guy!!!!!
  • ArizonaWill · 2 months ago
I love this man. He is actually saying in the pompous halls of the Capitol what people in the "real world" are saying. Forgive my conspiracy fears, but let's all do what we can to support him. I have this bad feeling that a man like this tends to
    1. Die in an airplane crash going back to Florida or DC
    2. Have an unexplained heart attack
    3. Suddenly "commit suicide", being found in his car in a public Washington DC park
    4. Suddenly announce that he must retire immediately to "spend more time with his family" (translation: threats have taken him down and he is leaving for the SAFETY of his family).
    5. Limbaugh, Beck and Fox News will simply lie 7 by 24 about him, and destroy his chances of re-election in a Bubba-district.
  • FunMe · 2 months ago
Is he our current "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"

I want him as MY representative!
  • UncleBucky · 2 months ago
Well, I would, too, but my Rep is Jan Schakowsky, and she's quite all right! Now, to the North of us we have that shill Mark Kirk to dispose of.

    Ugh.
  • Rufus · 2 months ago
Good cop, bad cop. Boy, Obama and Grayson would make one hell of a team.

So nice to finally hear some truth from the Congress. Now, how can we get him to replace Biden?
  • ephraim11 · 2 months ago
I am a Grayson Democrat for sure.

I really hope this guy runs against Obama in 2012!

    Alan Grayson is terrific.

I contributed to his reelection campaign. Let us all do it!

  • wmforr · 2 months ago
Nothing new to add, but I just had to add a HUZZAH! to this. After so many years wandering in the wilderness and hearing all the Dems meekly ask "May I?" of the GOP, finally someone who represents us and talks directly to the issues.
  • jack · 2 months ago
now this guy has some cajones! Now if you can only get the rest of the dems to expose the republicans like this.

OOo, bitch slap Olympia! Not only do the Republicans need to hear how unamerican and sissified they've become with their shrill feelings, but he also let the obstructionist and namby-pamby Democrats have it as well.

I love how he constantly repeated his points so that they got across--very simple communication (he definitely had to "catapult the (republican) propaganda"). He was, after all, talking to simple-minded orangutans. And, as Alan Grayson noted, since Republicans can't lead on this subject, they should quietly go back to their stink holes.
  • HelenRainier · 2 months ago
I have only one complaint about your comment: likening simple-minded republicons to orangutans. Orangutans are very complex simians and deserve much better than your "diss" of them to slimy sludge like Republicons and Conservatards. I demand an apology on behalf of all the simians -- past, present and future (if we try to save them from extinction).
  • TFD3 · 2 months ago
    I love him, too.
Smart, down to earth, sincere. Has a clue.
  • Butch1 · 2 months ago
He's not worried about offending the party leadership. This is a "people's" representative.
  • Constant Comment · 2 months ago
Grayson should tutor all Dems in Backbone 101.
  • erip · 2 months ago
This is one of the only politicians in the house with any balls.. when will the rest of his party get some of their own?
  • Indigo · 2 months ago
That's my rep! He had my vote, he still does! Mayor Crotty, the local county Bubba-in-Chief, has declined to run against Alan. That pretty well says where it stands in CenFla (central Florida) today.
  • HelenRainier · 2 months ago
Indigo, you're in his district? How long has he been around in national level politics? What is his background?
  • KerrynowCampau · 2 months ago
    Lucky you
  • TrappedinaRedState · 2 months ago
Finally my district is represented by someone unafraid to stand up and speak the truth! Living in such a conservative area I never thought I'd see the day that I could say this but I'm proud to be represented by this man. Now if we could just get a few more like him...
  • HereinDC · 2 months ago
    .
    WOW!
  • Ksue · 2 months ago
Wow. And he said this just hours before Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize:

" ... [the American people] understand that if Barack Obama were to bring about world peace, [the Republicans] would blame him for destroying the defense industry.

    Booyah!

I LOVE Rep. Grayson. You Floridians are lucky to have him.
  • J.P. · 2 months ago
    OMG. I love him too!
  • Butch1 · 2 months ago
What a breath of fresh air. Finally, a democrat, not afraid to stand up to the republicans and to tell it like it should be told. We could stand another hundred or two of this guy. The House democrats are fortunate to have him. Senate, pay attention. Is there at least one of you who could stand up and talk like this fellow? Are there any cojones left in the democratic senate? Step up before it is too late.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 2 months ago
kennedy could have made such a speech. but i can't think of anyone else in the senate. sanders maybe?
  • Butch1 · 2 months ago
I'm not so sure, Kennedy was too seasoned to name names. He would have spoken in the third person. This fellow is not afraid to name names if he has to. ( e.g. Olympia Snowe )
  • Rackster · 2 months ago
You obviosly have never seen Teddy (fat boy) after his 20 shots of Chivas--he was indeed fat enough, drunk enough and stupid enought to make that speech. As a former MA resident, I can vouch for this.
  • Butch1 · 2 months ago
You knew the late Senator Ted Kennedy well enough to vouch, as you say, that he would say something like that? Hmmmm.

I think Ted Kennedy was a scotch drinker not a Chivas. We all have our opinions though, Ted Kennedy may have been many things but, one thing he wasn't was stupid. I understand he stopped the excessive drinking when he met his second wife. You do know that ETOH abuse is a disease and something of which, one with maturity would not make fun. Also, pointing fun at overweight people is puerile, in my opinion. How insecure you must be that you need to tear someone like him down. Even if you looked like an Adonis on the outside, I doubt, by what I've read by you, that you are very deep or attractive at all on the inside. If making fun of people is your form of amusement, especially, when they have passed on, I feel more sorry for you. You may want to reconsider your approach, most of the people on this blog are adults and fail to see the humour in your comments, I know I didn't. This is my opinion, of course.

    Duhh.
  • warrenlawston · 2 months ago
    Grayson is awesome, absolutely awesome!
  • decotodd · 2 months ago
I love this guy! He is also speaking without his face buried in his "script" like so many in Congress who clearly don't write what they are saying.
  • saglaker · 2 months ago
I'm sending him my congratulations. I'm also sending a copy to my Congressman (D Dave Loebsack) and both of my Senators . . . that includes Grassley. Aaargh!
  • memphisj · 2 months ago
Wow, this speech is one for the ages. Absolutely brilliant and with more brave democrats speaking out like this we could have had health reform done, signed, sealed and delivered.
I have to believe this is the future of our party. If not, we have not future.
  • Carmen Lopez · 2 months ago
WOW I agree with everyone here. I live in Florida but I wish I lived in his district. I love him! I'll also be sending this to my congressman and senators. They could take some lessons from him.

Now we need to see if he is able to influence others in the House and Senate.
Damn, I wish he were my rep instead of Radanovich the Insurance companies' Republican lap dog.
  • proudliberal1947 · 2 months ago
Realizing this guy is a junior how can we get him to be the House Speaker, it is impressive to see someone with a pair of BRASS BALLS, calling these CLOWNS out.

You have got to love this guy, he calls out the WACK RIGHT and MURDER INCORPORATED ( Dollars for Lives Insurance Socialist). This guy is Great.
  • ezpz · 2 months ago
    I love this man!

Notice how both the GOP AND the media have backed off. They don't dare try to take him on anymore. In Congress, they tried to get a resolution against him and then backed down.

This is how it's done. I hope Mr Bipartisan President himself is paying attention, but somehow I doubt it.
  • KerrynowCampau · 2 months ago
I hope EVERY Democratic official is taking notes on how to act when called to apologize.

Grayson knows how to take on bullies...

What do I do to thank this Guy? He is really my hero and I mean it when I say this. If only we had a group in this House who can stand up to the Crazies like Rep. Grayson does.

Boy this was Good and I salute him for standing up for little folks like me and my family.

Thank you and thank you Sir.
  • jimfromthefoothills · 2 months ago
This guy deserves a hand job! I am becoming a Grayson Democrat.
  • ephraim11 · 2 months ago
I just call his office and left a message of support and we need to do this to let him know we are happy for taking the GOP and some in the Democratic Party establishment.

This is his office number again:202-225-2176.
  • jimfromthefoothills · 2 months ago
just called and thanked his office.
  • UncleBucky · 2 months ago
Yep. The GOPers need to get out of the way. What also needs to happen is that the "way" needs to be made toward ending the nonsense put forth by the GOP.

I think that starts with what advertisers are doing with respect to Glenn Beck. Find the advertiser, call up their switchboard, find a suit, and start yelling. And then NEVER, EVER buy from them again (OK, until they do what we want).

This is essentially a matter of taking away their money. That is the only message they respond to.

So, GOPers, get out of the way. And that means, Dems and Progressives (especially Progressives), stop muddying the water and make way. Drag the Moderate Dems with you. But stop peeing in the lake, boys! Stop letting the milk sour, girls. Boys and girls, let all the arrows be going in the same direction. Take a clue from the Nobel Prize Commission.

    Ugh.
  • RichardS · 2 months ago
I love this guy! Finally a Democrat with a spine! Far too many democrats kowtow to the republican thugs, both in the house and senate....... Finally, with Rep. Grayson.... it's enough is enough....... it's time to show the country what the republicans and the republican party really stand for...... and it's NOT America! Thank you Mr. Grayson, please keep up your good work.
  • Apphouse50 · 2 months ago
I love this guy, have now donated to him, he's my hero.

But damn! What is it with that suit he's wearing? Can't someone dress him better?
  • jimfromthefoothills · 2 months ago
I was thinking the same thing... he is one of the richest guys in the congress.

Get fitted for a Brioni Alan, you will love it.
  • smallhandff · 2 months ago
While I don't know his positions on ENDA, marriage Civil Rights & DADT, yesterday I donated to his campaign via ActBlue. I sence Grayson is taking a hint from "candidate" Obama & speaking out on issues in a way that resonates w the silent majority of progressive America. I hope he doesn't eventally morph into a duplicitious shite like you-know-who.

Indeed--you have more republican friends than you will ever know and by the way, we don't want you to apologize, that is just a ploy to keep you talking. Please, don't tell the stupid people, they are not on to this.

Please keep this moron in play--give him his own show if you have to--we actually read internal polls and we know what the VOTING PUBLIC--not those drug taking idiots that live in urban alleys in thier own feces and urine--think.
We read the real polls (not those sily lefty--marxist--looney tune polls) THE REAL ONES!

So please keep this retard in circulation; you can't buy this kind of publicity.

I'm glad there is at least one Democrat with a spine and a voice. Good for Alan Grayson. I just donated to his election fund at congressmanwithguts.com

Republicans are fond of attempting to embarrass or shame opposition into silence, as they are doing with Grayson in various media appearances. But he is holding up well. I hope he has a long and successful career.
