"This is not an energy policy. This is money laundering: we borrow money from China and ship it to Saudi Arabia and take a little cut for ourselves as it goes through our gas tanks. What a way to build our country.
When the summer is over, we will have increased our debt to China, increased our transfer of wealth to Saudi Arabia and increased our contribution to global warming for our kids to inherit."
Don't you think it would have been more credible for her to just arrive at a station and talk to real people instead of a guy driving a truck specifically for a photo op? It reminds me of Bush's plastic turkey.
Feeling better?
Thanks for noticing. A little, I'm afraid I have some sort of bug. I've had it for about a week now and can't seem to shake it.
Sickening....

Wouldn't it be more effective if the politician actually cared and did something believable to stop the war in Iraq which is responsible in keeping these costs so high?
What a joke, had any of the supporters actually cared about any of these issues they would have cast far different votes while in Congress.
DID I SAY A SLOW CLINTON NEWS DAY??? DAMN, I AM NOW SMACKING MY FINGERS FOR TYPING THAT.
Check out Huff Post, they have some advance transcript of the O'Rielly and Clinton interview

The only thing more dispicable than Thomas Friedman is the fact that he continues to suck in air.

Whereas I agree with you on the subject of Tom Friedman, I do happen to agree with him on the economic issues he discussed in the article that "dontmakeme" cited.

Ethanol Production Forging Costly Link Between Food And Oil.
Ethanol was once touted (and still is by some) as an effective way to slow global climate change, but that effectiveness is increasingly being questioned as the link between ethanol production and rising food and oil prices becomes clearer.
While food scientists around the world have said that halting the use of food-based biofuels, such as ethanol, would help combat the global food crisis, Bush has called for increasing the use of ethanol.
As if all politicians don't give speeches that are staged in settings appropriate for the topic they're speaking about. Come on!
And Obama has gone so far as to stage being suddenly appalled at the behavior of his longtime preacher in order to further his political career. Where's the outrage there?
(Apparently, he couldn't not conceive of disowning his "nutty uncle..." That is, until the nutty uncle had the audacity to start a full-out press tour right before the North Carolina and Indiana primaries. THEN Obama tosses Uncle Wright under the bus! And I notice that Americablog is suddently offended by Wright's opinions now, too--whereas you guys were defending him left and right before. What changed there--other than Obama's stance?)
And go ahead...vote down this post so as to lower my supposed "clout" rating... Big whoop. We've already learned that anyone who dares say anything that's not quite pro-Obama immediately drops to something like a negative 279 in supposed "clout." What a joke.
("Obama was wearing the wrong color of tie this morning." Negative five. "I have questions about Obama's policy on dealing with Iran." Negative nine. "I have not yet wallpapered my entire house with pictures of Barack Obama." Negative twelve.)
We see it as a badge of honor, really--to be disidentified with a group that is so caught up in the Obama fervor that no other point of view will be tolerated. How lame...and how divisive!
Otherwise they might have to focus on the pathological LIAR.....Hitlery Clinton!
*Ahem!*
I didn't say I was worried about it, firebrand. Just making an observation about how Americablog has turned this into a very obvious "us" against "them" sort of community. People who have nothing worthwhile to add to the conversation can satisfy their intolerant selves by giving any "offending" (read: anti-Obama) posts a bad rating. Whoopee. Maybe you're new to this blog and don't realize that it used to be a very united community. I still like the writing here--just not the unobscured bias.
Funny how the focus was on my sarcastic comment about clout--and not on the main topic--Obama's sudden flip-flopping. Did Wright change? Did his views suddenly become too extreme for Obama to handle? Why disassociate himself from Wright now? I thought Wright was as near and dear to Obama's heart as his "white grandmother?" How is this any kind of devotion?
I've been coming here for over three years. BTW....I'm a die hard Obama supporter. Have a nice day. :-)
If a friend stabbed me in the back like that, and then made a spectacle of himself to get a better book deal, I would disassociate myself from that person.
Home purchase at a discount, compliments of a Mr. Rezko, anyone? Another example of that great judgement at work.
We're at war, our economy and environment are going down the tubes, gas prices are skyrocketing... Even if we go with the way you guys are painting Hilary, I'd rather have a cold, calculating bitch in charge of our government than a naive idealist who talks a good talk...and only that.
