AMERICAblog: AP calls "Joe the Plumber" a "myth"

  • sherifffruitfly · 1 year ago
And the fair&balanced part of the article is just crap.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
AP finally realizes Joe is a plant? Investigative journalism at its finest.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I don't have time to read the article but just wanted to say "Joe the Plumber" is not a typical American, if he were the polls would heavily favoring McCain, they aren't. What Joe the Plumber represents is the lower educated part of the Republican party that is bigoted, racist and arrogant.
  • gregwire · 1 year ago
But then how would Joe ever get laid by SNL cast members under Obama's tax plan?

"Every American who has been duped for years into voting Republican against their own self-interests."
    ==========
John McCain said it best himself when he shouted out, "My fellow prisoners..."

I will never cease from laughing at this clip.

    Grampa confused again:

McCain slips, almost credits ‘Joe the Bomber’ for rise in polls.»

Q: [W]ith Virginia a reliably red state dating all the way back to 1964, how come you’re not doing better in the polls in Virginia?

MCCAIN: We’re doing much better actually, there’s a poll out today that shows we’re within about three so we’re moving up and moving up fast. And look, Joe the Bomb — uh — Joe the Plumber turned the whole thing around.

Reminds me of that book: "Just How Stupid Are We?" by Rick Shenkman. He posits that Americans know so little about our government - many don't even know there are three branches of government - that they would believe almost anything that community "leaders" tell them. Americans are politically ignorant.

And don't forget there are a lot of people who want/need an authoritarian leader; one who will make decisions for them. When Shenkman meets such people he advises that if they aren't willing to learn about their own government and U.S. politics, perhaps they should move to Russia where the government is only too happy to make decisions for its citizens.

Remember George Bush's tax refund of 2001?

All the Joe the Plumbers of the nation got duped into believing the Repugs work for them.

    They still haven't waken up.

But, but, John McCain called him "an American hero" in a speech just a few days ago.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Obama did not knock on the door of his house. ( Sean Hannity has been spewing that lie since day one)

Joe was in a crowd of people.
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
He's sort of the exact way that Republican strategists and the media view the "working class American". That's he's, in reality, a bizarre funhouse mirror distortion of the working class more shows the sort of disdainful ignorance the Reps and media have for those types of Americans. What was the monologue from Kill Bill: Clark Kent is Superman's commentary on the human race? Well Plumbfucius is the Republican's commentary on the working class.

Wait, Sam the unlicensed plumber, who owes back taxes and is a domestic abuser, the guy who says he doesn't like all the media scrutiny yet wants to be a country western star and has hired a pr agent who goes by the name of Joe isn't like the rest of us?

But he sounds so Jimmy Jeff Gannon Guckertish to me?
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
This may sound naive, but I can't believe the MSM won't even call this man by his actual name; Sam. They buy into the meme entirely.

    :::shaking head:::
  • eclecticbrotha · 1 year ago
Instead of Joe the Plumber we should be calling him Sam the Butcher, since he was brought in specifically to do a hack's job on Obama.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
"Joe the Plumber" is merely one more of McCain's Fables; it might be an interesting read, but the plot line is skewed and scary yet finishes with the moral "Country & True American Values First: Vote Obama".
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Who wrote that tripe? Obama gave a straightforward answer to an ignorant, racist "everyman" and the Rethugs picked up on this guy's politics and ran with him. Obama is no myth, and he has made no myths--unlike the Rethugs who opportunistically exploit the worst fears of working people in this country, people who are losing jobs, losing income, losing buying power, losing everything in some cases.

I'd bet you $100 the RNC is picking up every expense for "Joe's" expensive publicity team, too. How many $15/hr workers could possibly take time off from work to exploit what is basically no talent or skill in politics otherwise? Who is really paying "Joe's" mortgage and living expenses like they paid his overdue taxes?
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Joe is the Republicans wet dream. A fictional piece of dog turd that you can call average, that you can say is just like all of us. Problem is Americans never get past the pat on the head crap. McCain and the rest, you know, Bush Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell, Boehner, Delay they don't live like us, they need us to pay taxes and suck their weiners and be good little followers. Joe was a plant, I hope someone exposes that after the election, Obama answered honestly and they exploited the takes taxes from the rich and turned it into we pay more for the 40% who don't pay anything, smack the welfare meme. Hannity has been hammering that pail of horseshit non stop. But, the right are kept in power by the people who think the Big Head in the Sky is sending his son back to be killed a second time, Republicans running Rome got him the first time. They all embrace the Rapture just like the Muslim sects that believe there are 40 virgins waiting for them. You can convince Republicans of anything if they think they will somehow win the lottery or become millionaires.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
So, let me get this straight, the AP now is talking about "Joe the Plumber" being a myth after building him up all this time? Does the AP - "Asinine Propaganda" fear an Obama Presidency and realize they have to start telling the truth again?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Watching John McCain live repeat his damned talking points for the thousandth time and Cindy McCain just doesn't look happy. She looks like she knows its over and trying really hard to fake it. Its not working...
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
If John McCain FOUGHT as hard as he cheerleads for other Americans to FIGHT, FIGHT FIGHT maybe he wouldn't have dumped his first wife and family, or maybe he wouldn't have finished at the bottom of his class at Annapolis?
  • gwpriester · 1 year ago
That's bottom 5 of his class. There were actually 4 who were dumber. :-)

And speaking of dumb. Nobody ever suggested that Joe Bogus the not a plumber was the sharpest tool in his toolbox either.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm sure all FIVE of them had some kind of "connections" to keep them from getting kicked out. McCain would have had his sorry ass kicked out if his dad and grandpa hadn't been Admirals.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    From the article:

"For his part, McCain has blithely carried on with a variety of discredited claims, abetted by a running mate whose exuberance is not at all dimmed by contrary evidence."

That could have been written MONTHS ago. Why now, AP - Asinine Propaganda? Me thinks a little Republican BIAS kept those words from being written when it would have mattered more.
  • redjb · 1 year ago
this has perplexed me for days...

they keep touting this fraud....do they not know that we can read...

    just bizarre..
  • eclecticbrotha · 1 year ago
    John,

if its an AP story you know there has to be some fake equivalence going on. They try to equate Obama's claims about McCain's plans to fabrications about Joe the Plumber and Caribou Barbie. Obama got the details wrong on McCain's policies. McCain's been parading two impostors before the people for the past two months. No comparison.
  • Nylund · 1 year ago
The best part about "Joe the Plumber" is that the GOP tried to ban him from voting during one of their voter purges. (On his registration form the U in his last name was read and recorded as an O). Because of this "discrepancy" the GOP added him to the list of people suspected of voter fraud. It is only because Democrats won that legal battle that "Joe the Plumber" will even be able to vote!
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Why is it that the lying sacks of shit in our country are always Republicans?
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
Truth and Facts are for liberals!!
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
Here's an old saying: "There are two types of Republicans. Millionaires and Suckers."

You guess which one Joe is. :)
  • chelseabites · 1 year ago
I'm amazed by the incredible amount of public interest in both Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin. Good or bad, they've become somewhat of a pop icon. With Palin, people are dressing like her to be and/or mock her all at the same time.

For instance, I found this video on dressing like Palin:
