AMERICAblog: AP cites Rush Limbaugh as expert on "fairness"

  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
John, we need to start calling them what they are --- PROPAGANDISTS -- they are not journalists by any definition of the word. They are not experts by any definition of the word either. They are PROPAGANDISTS pure and simple. Their latest mission by the PTB is to sell the American public another load of crap (St. McCain) so they can maintain the status quo.

I'll bet if you check their personal wealth indexes over the last 8 years they have all gotten quite the income boost (like they needed it) for all of the insanity they've been happily pushing. (Hell, some of them may even be on the list of super rich who have been dodging their taxes via Licthenstein)

    Very well said!
  • CitizenX · 1 year ago
    Too true!

Right wing nut radio has turned into one long commercial selling mcsame and denigrating Obama.

I don't listen to much but what I do listen to, the subject is always Obama the Messiah, etc. or how mcsame is not being given his due.
  • Bubbles · 1 year ago
You are far too generous. Limbaugh is a hard core political pornographer. Normally the A.P. does soft pol-porn, but, pornography nonetheless.

They are not serious about journalism, but they are serious about pol-porn.

AP has lost all credibility by transforming themselves from an unbiased, fact based news disseminator into a far-right-wing, unapologetically biased, anti-fact propaganda source.

    How sad.

    I agree
  • evan_la · 1 year ago
OMG. Since when has ANYTHING issued from that gasbag Rush passed the veracity test?

These GPN (Government Propaganda News) losers will soon find out what's fair when this is back on:

    FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.

  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Asshole of the Universe is concerned about fairness?

    Well, isn't that special.
  • politigal · 1 year ago
Couldn't agree with you more about the ludicrousness of using Rush Limbaugh as a source on media bias, John.

But could you please explain this recent obsession of yours of constantly referring to Andrea Mitchell as Mrs. Greenspan? I'm pretty sure you don't believe a woman is defined by who her husband is.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
IMO, a reporter is supposed to be neutral. Alan Greespan is not. He is a pro-corporate, neo-liberal big time. She is also not neutral. She carries forth the same propaganda as her husband, disguised as 'journalism'. I suppose she could call herself Andrea Greenspan, but maybe then the cat would be out of the bag. Better to stay Mitchell. But let's remind everyone by calling her Mrs. Greenspan. that my take on it anyway...
  • CitizenX · 1 year ago
    Mush....

Anybody notice all the whining on the wingnut stations about how Obama is treated vs mcsame?

They are all whining from the same whining play book. You would think they were all reading from the same sheet of talking points.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
If you spend ANY time listening to right-wing media, you will note they CONTINUALLY harp on the media being pro-left. It's absolutely vital to keeping the sheep drinking the kool-aid. Without that, they are in really bad shape.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
What do you expect from AP. Maybe they can bring McCain donuts with extra sprinkles on them to cheer him up for all that bias coverage.
  • shell · 1 year ago
Did you see Mrs. Greenspan today on Tweety's show? It was hysterical. She is following Barack to the Middle East, but is VERY MAD that he won't give her the respect she DESERVES, apparantly. The funny part is that both Tweety and his other guest were raving about Obama's appearances, and Mrs. Greenspan was REALLY PISSED. Never smiled. And said as many rude things about him (while still appearing neutral) as possible. I was laughing at her pain.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
God, I'm tired of Andrea Mitchell and her skewed, but supposedly "neutral" take, on world affairs and politics. Her reporting is worse than Pravda in Russia's Soviet days. She needs to have an asterisk next to her name with footnote, "WARNING: Andrea is married to Alan Greenspan!"

Is it sprinkles or b-b-q that makes "reporters" lose all but two functioning brain cells?

this is the Brent Bozellification of the media

McCain has gotten a free-pass via the MSM on the whole. He really says some silly, senior-momenty stuff and they let so much of it slide.

I really believe that they know deep-down that if they covered this thing properly, Obama will land-slide McCain in the election. That, of course, would not benefit their business operations.

Look at how 'close' they kept saying the Clinton/Obama race was all the way through June even though it was over by the beginning of March. Obviously, making the primary sound closer than it actually was was good for business. Look at how good the ratings were. They want that all the way through November.
  • shell · 1 year ago
The funny part of the Obama-Clinton "close" race was the MSM's (and even Republicans') praise for Clinton! Jeez! You'd think she was a Republican. (Well, that is still up for grabs, but at this point, she has a "D" behind her name.) Is it any wonder so many not-very-smart females are threatening not to vote, rather than vote for Obama?
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
What is particularly interesting about this nonsense piece is how easily the AP writer ignores how willing the media is to jump on any propaganda point manufactured by Republicans without checking a single fact. If a con-artist conservative says "Obama is a muslim" then the media play the story as a "growing controversy" for at least a week. No wonder it seems like the candidate is getting too much coverage.

Meanwhile, the media is mute when McCain violates campaign finance laws, misidentifies belligerent parties in Iraq, can't find the countries of the Middle East on a map, or hires an economic adviser who talks the candidate's campaign into a corner. So, when the media decides not to report on McSame's McSameable moments, he doesn't get much coverage.

What we have here is a media organization so desperately entrenched in manufactured spin that they no longer have any idea how to gather information, exercise ethical standards, or provide reliable information for the American people. Their quote of some wingnut congressman and Rush Limbaugh - himself completely unqualified academically and professionally to understand anything about the nuances of media bias - merely make the Associated Press seem more like the Republican shills they are.

Oh, come, come. Rush Limbaugh is indeed an expert on "fairness."

And I am Marie of Roumania.
  • Eyeball_Kid · 1 year ago
It's all called "perception management". The AP is an active participant. And it's disgusting.
  • Bubbles · 1 year ago
Limbaugh speciallizes in hard core political pornography. Does the AP do pol-porn too? Looks like it to me.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
keep your eye on limbaugh. he really hates John McCain and vice versa, apparently.

McCain has never been neocon enough for limbaugh and now he's having to fall in line like the rest of the GOPers...then again, McMaverick has been pandering his ass off lately to this crowd...should be interesting.
