AMERICAblog: AP found two people who liked the ABC debate, but doesn't bother telling you they're both conservative pundits

Uh-oh, the Pope said Americans are "bitter"!

AP: Benedict examined American society, saying he detected anger and alienation, increasing violence and a "growing forgetfulness of God."

Why does the Pope hate America?

WHY DOES THIS SHIT SURPRISE ANYONE?

    Good grief.

The APs job is to advance the Neocon-WAR-MACHINE agenda.
    Just like Hillary.

Reports are that Morning Joe stomped off the David Gregory show after a dust up with Rachel Maddow. I watched the exchange between Maddow and Scarbourgh and at the time I thought to myself, Scarborurgh doesn't like Maddow and it shows. His attitude was downright snotty and sarcastic and this isn't the first time he has performed this way with Maddow. I don't know if he only dislikes Maddow or does he dislike like all women who have thinking minds?

    Nigel, GOOD catch

You notice how Stephonopolous NEVER gave a reason or excuse for why he used Sean Hannity as a source for a question? Oh, I love the conservatives justifying this "debate" as relevant questions to be answered. Hell no , they wanted one of the candidates to lose it.

    Busboy

As in unglued. Dan Abrams right now is raking Stephanopoulos over the coals. Will ABC or more importantly will Stephanopoulos ever regain any crediblity? ABC for sure will survive but I think people will begin to see Snuffy (tired of typing that long name) in a much different light for a long time.

Someone needs to tell George Stephanopoulos that an "issue" isn't created simply because his network decides to pick up an unproven right wing talking point that has been circulating for months and turn it into a "controversy." ABC just doesn't GET it - or else they are so smug in thinking people have not connected the dots that they are wallowing in the same willful ignorance that conservatives hiberate in all of the time. When the talking head of a network deliberately uses right wing talking points to bait the opponent of the wife of his former boss, and the network cannot see any conflict of interest, the network loses credibility.
What ABC was trying to do was NOT examing electability at all - they were attempting to give more wind to the sails of their own created "controversies" that were acquired from the right wing. In other words, both moderaters were only interested in trying to get sound bites from the candidates to promote their own manufactured "issues" - they don't give one damn about the American people.

We cannot let this go - this is too blatant and too important. Someone needs to get smart enough in an interview with one of those ABC bozos and explain to them that, just because conservatives apparently run their network, they don't reflect the thoughts of the majority of the American people. Steph's remarks are the perfect evidence of just how elitist and arrogant the news organization is at that network - and how completely out of touch they are with the American people.

They should not be allowed to continue covering the election campaigns.

The good thing is that now even some members of the mainstream media is catching onto the fact that people are upset with the way politics are being covered. I don't think that'll change anything right away, but one can only wish that they'll realize we actually want a discussion of the issues and not a completely manufactured piece of drama.
  • Left of the Hill · 1 year ago
I stand by earlier comment that I think some in the MSM are noticing that we don't like the coverage like we saw last night, but it definitely appears as though Fox is far from being in the category. (Surprise, surprise).

I happened to catch a report on Fox News today (it was already on when I entered the room, I promise) and the analyst was simply mocking Obama as someone who couldn't stand a little pressure. They played a clip of Obama saying how he didn't like playing gotcha politics and the pundits just went crazy about how this showed he couldn't handle the pressures of being President.

Seems to me that I'd rather have a president who wants to talk about the issues instead of playing gotcha politics. But then again, why would I expect Fox News to have any commonsense when it comes to knowing what the people actually want to hear.

How can ABC let a former Clintoon scumbag like George StepOnALLOfUs conduct a debate?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
i bet stephanopoulos is wishing he'd gone directly to K Street when he had the chance...

    he's a goner.
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
The conservative Associated Press, another John McCain endorser, rarely identifies the political leanings of conservatives - their assumption is that conservatism is the norm and needs no attribution.

What is even more telling is how the AP believes that Republican supporters should be interviewed for "balance" about candidates in Democratic primaries - part of Rush's chaos conspiracy, I suppose...:-)

    Where's Charlie Gibson's lapel pin.

    The smirking little traitor.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Would Stephanopoulos and Gibson please explain when flag lapel pins, the word "bitter," and quotes from people not running for president became issues?
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Of course Brooks and Malkin loved the debate: It was a GOP hatchet job! And of course the AP didn't identify them properly. Because then everyone would know why these hacks loved the debate and that would indicate bias. The AP has its image to protect, especially since they supply news to most of the news.

This is another example of why the establishment news continually fails us.

It is quite clear to me. Unless the democrats learn how to control the MSM it will be a long summer for them. It is obvious that many MSM outlets splash the GOP talking points far across America. If the democrats cannot counter this assault they will always be fighting uphill.

There was no way Senator Clinton's support of NAFTA and the war on Iraq was going to be debated on national TV this close to the PA primary (think OHIO)..

She went into the debate sounding like a liar and came out sounding like a warmonger and a liar.

ABC is laughing all the way to the bank. The debate was a huge success in #'s of viewers; especially in the #'s who stayed and watched it to the end. In spite of some stupid questions; almost everyone thinks Obama did well. Hillary's attempt to explain when a "lie" is not a "lie" was so sophomoric as to make the viewers squirm in their seats.
On a really upbeat note; Yahoo biz says there are 7 great things about a recession:

    Busboy,
You're confusing viewer interest with a successful debate. They're not synonymous. Judging by the debate reaction at ABC's website, in the papers, and on many blogs...the debate was an unmitigated disaster. I expect ABC will see a lot of fallout from this, which may hit their wallet.

Regarding Yahoo Biz...right, it's great being unemployed, homeless and on food stamps. Bet they recommend it to everyone.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I agree with you, with the exception that the ABC viewership is probably not so sophisticated to realize that they weren't watching a meaningful debate. The critics are usually the most likely to write in to register their feelings.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
"Lose it", as in losing the debate; or, "lose it" as in coming unglued?

I agree, John. Nigel is a GOOD catch.
Oh. I bet you meant the superb links he brings to these threads.
    Yeah, that too.
    ;-)

    OT of the debate:

McCain Admits His Economic Plan ‘Disagrees With The Experts’

Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) presented an economic plan that offers a $1.7 trillion tax cut for corporations, “more than twice as much as McCain gives families with his child deduction,” as The Wonk Room’s James Kvaal and Robert Gordon noted.
Today on MSNBC, McCain was asked if he is understating the costs of his tax cuts. “Independent experts say your tax cuts would cost at least $100 billion more than you say and that the savings would not materialize,” Andrea Mitchell said. McCain retorted:
"I disagree. I disagree with the experts. I disagree. I disagree. I disagree with the experts. I have experts of my own. I have many experts of my own who say that this will stimulate the economy, will create jobs, and increase revenues over time."
McCain said Ronald Reagan also reduced taxes in 1981. But when Mitchell noted that Reagan did “bust the deficit,” McCain tried to dodge: “Not early on it did — I am a deficit hawk.”

Good video, too. McC was getting pissed at Andrea Mitchell:
