AMERICAblog: AP: Obama will win the nomination tonight

  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Now will the media IGNORE Hillary (she is the loser)? No, that can't. They are compulsed by the Clenis to continue to cover her.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
you can't have a loser without a winner. and there is no democratic nominee yet. sorry to burst your bubble.
  • FightForJustice · 1 year ago
Mirth, It's me Jake In Music City under a new name, and I am tossing confetti with you! What a glorious day for our democracy.

    But, you'd never know.
  • jescot · 1 year ago
John - It's over and now is the time to come together ...The only reason people are interested in what Hillary or her people will do tonight is becasue she and her people are like a circus ...which is why they are interesting but also why THEY lost. The ring master is now OBAMA!
  • CoreyL · 1 year ago
"It's over and now is the time to come together "

Tell that to the African-American community who had to endure Hillary's racist attacks, photo-shopping Obama's skin color, and encouraging Rev. Wright to slime Obama. Hillary and her people have gone over the line so many times with regard to bigotry and racism that it will be hard to embrace her values.
  • grasshopper · 1 year ago
Winners can afford to be gracious. Let's take our example from Barack. He's been classy throughout this campaign and we can too.
  • Spunky_Jitters · 1 year ago
I am getting my best suit out and taking a walk down to the Xcel Energy Center (which is 4 miles away) to party and toast our next Democratic Presidential Candidate Barak Obama! Hey, I got nothing against a female president.......just not THAT one.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
    another tweaker for obama....
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
It's not just *her* night; it's a CELEBRATION of her tenacious, inspirational, unprecedented campaign! What does Obama have: just a pitiful little wake for *merely* straggling over the finish line. Who would want to be in Minneapolis tonight, when the REAL party is happening in that "salt of the earth" town Chappaqua?! With all those FUN-LOVIN' people Howard, Lanny, Bill, and Harold?!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
And how could I forget the other guest of honor: Mark Penn! (Just set aside some of the vittles, for the latecomers if Mark comes early).
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Oh--and another memo to the caterers: prep a separate bowl of clam dip of his own for Mark Penn; he's been known to "double dip"!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Note to caterers: if Mr. Ickes or Mr. Davis complains about the food, as they probably will, please refer them to the hostess.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Hey Everybody: the Clinton campaign still has a $5000 line of credit on that airline credit card, so let's go all out with Andre's Cold Duck for everybody, and a bottle of Crown Royal for the hostess! Clam dip, too!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
i wish i could give you some clout points for these! :D
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Ee-ugh! But you're probably right. Maybe they should give him one of those lobster bibs too.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    Mark Penn won!

Just think all the $$$ he made with this.

    Mark Penn won!
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Note to party planners: we think Harriet Christian is going to show, so please lock up all breakable objects in the the downstairs rooms; if she asks for an alcoholic beverage, please ensure she only gets a VERY watered-down request.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Note to Secret Service members (posing as cater-waiters): if you see President Clinton groping any of the kitchen female catering staff this evening, you are authorized to intervene.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Note to Secret Service (posing as cater-waiters): the guest list is fixed! Anyone wearing a "WOMEN COUNT PAC" t-shirt or any of the other t-shirts in Miss Clinton's T-Shirt Contest must NOT be permitted entry into the Great Room. Direct them to the rear patio where the coolers are.

If Hillary doesn't concede tonight then it will be clear that she and her supporters want nothing more than to destroy the Democratic Party. She and her loony supporters should have thrown in the towel months ago, yet she can't give up her sick power trip. There are no politicians more selfish or corrupt as the sleazy Clintons.

As many call for unity, the hardest part will be to convince the African-American community which was the target for much of Billary's racist tactics. After she photo-shopped Obama's nose and skin color and Bill threw out the race card, it will be hard to come together and embrace the Clintons. These people have crossed the line in slandering African-Americans.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Hillary's done in the AA community. That's good though. She'll be trying to kiss ass to get re-elected for her Senate seat. And, she can't do it without the AA vote. Another dem will beat her to the punch this time. You can count on it!

I give OB-man a lot of credit for not going to down the "race-is-an-issue" avenue.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Bet she doesn't even serve out her term in the Senate. Hillary Clinton does not want to be one of one hundred. The Senate was only a stepping stone. She might try for the governorship of New York, and I hope she gets Nixoned.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Good point. She's all about having access to power. She's working on worming her way into the VP slot as we speak. He can do better than Hillary. There are a lot of talented people that could help unite the party. Hillary would be one step closer to the oval office, and that's what she really wants.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
obama is all about chicago-style thuggery and corruption - as he proves every time he gets a chance.

no way hillary would ever accept being on a ticket with that skank. he's a loser -- either in august or november -- so why would she want to be associated with somene as toxic as him?

today's elections just go to show much much democrats outright eject obama as a candidate, sweetie.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
You're an idiot. Apparantly, you're not following today's news. The only thing you
can do for me is to get on your knees......sweetie.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
you mean, by playing the race card every chance he got, don't you?
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago

you're effectively giving her the attention you say she doesn't deserve by even commenting on her. Let her rant on in the corner. Even saying her name at this point is taking the attention away from the nominee: BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. BARACK OBAMA. He has not choice but to claim victory tonight. His coverage has to dwarf hers. The woman is disgusting. I hope the media plays it out that way.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
hmmm... a real problem dealing with reality huh?
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Kneel to the man. Prostrate yourself before him, and leave that crack HO Hillary Clinton behind.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
The other America, white older ladies, won. Don't you know? Oh wait, don't forget Southerners who drink whiskey out of the bottle. And those like me who grew up killing animals, I mean hunting. Did I forget anyone? Oh yeah, the gays who have let bygones be bygones and forget about DOMA and gays in the military.

Yeah I won these folks! I am woman hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore.

Where is that New Yawker? Yes, we won! Those New Yawker women who drink scotch at political meetings and wear sun glasses during the day. YES! Those women won with me.

Hi I'm Hillary, and I approve this message.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
    put. down. the. crack. pipe.

Let's hook up. I'm looking to fill up my stable. I'll treat you good and give you a fair percentage.
  • dommyluc · 1 year ago
Hey, forget about Hillary. I deserve all the attention tonight.
I LOST in the popular vote.
I LOST in the pledged delegate count.
I LOST the majority of primaries by 30+ percentage points.
I LOST the majority of Superdelegates.
Just because I didn't run doesn't mean that I didn't lose. But I shall not ask for the VP slot or a cabinet position in the Obama administration. I shall be magnanimous and humble in my defeat. But in order for me to condede, all that I ask for is that all of you fine voters commenting on americablog pool your financial resources and buy me a 60" Pioneer Elite Kuro Plasma HDTV. My friends, thank you for your support, and I do not choose to run in 2012 (unless I don't get my fucking TV, that is).
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
    you are welcome, mr obama.

    London--what a filthy place...chuckle.
  • SusieQ · 1 year ago
Thank God this is nearly over and I can come back to AmericaBlog, which used to be my first stop in the morning and the last stop in the evening.

There aren't too many fellow gay politics-freaks like me (maybe John and Pam) and AmericaBlog covers politics from the angle I want to read it.

I've even given money to AmericaBlog so Aravosis can go to Paris and Greece.

But I can't bear the screeching from this blog for the last three months and it gets worse every day. Good God, the primary will be over in ONE MORE DAY; can't you just wait and let the two candidates shut it down they way THEY want to? Why does it have to follow John's agenda?

And what if Obama DOES pick Hillary for VP? Will you then shut up and get on board or will you continue to trash her, thereby damaging the ticket just as you accuse Hillary of damaging Obama?

Really, John, just calm down for 48 hours and STFU already.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
    well put
  • FightForJustice · 1 year ago
Thank you John. I came rolling in to this site on a link for how to stand up to Ford when they decided to cave to the Dobsons of the world regarding advertising in gay publications. I came for a few email addresses and I found a blogosphere home. I have never gone away. And what this blog has done for me has shown me how to participate in the political process in a way I have never done in my life. I've given money. I've phonebanked. I've taken part in voter registration. I have been given the knowledge of the issues in a way that allowed me to advocate strongly with facts in support of my beliefs. I have become an active voice in my democracy. And I have learned from you, Joe, Chris, A.J., Jacki, and Cliff....and I have learned from every post on this blog, whether I agreed with the poster or not.

Tonight we celebrate. Tonight we celebrate. The Democratic party...we the voters in the Democratic party...have done what seemed like only an admirable dream. We have defeated the DLC, the entrenched power in this party, and the Clinton dynasty.

Whatever she does tonight....Hillary Clinton has lost the nomination for President as the representative of the Democratic Party....and for the first time in my 51 years, I can actually vote in November for a candidate I truly believe in.

    On to November.

    Yes We Can.

    Beautifully articulated:)
  • interlude · 1 year ago
tonight we will see what kind of class Hillary has or hasn't.
she can choose to drag this out and continue to attack Obama and help McCain
    OR
she can gracefully concede Obama's delegate lead and take the lead in healing a torn and tired democratic faithful, so that there is unity during the summer and the rest of the campaign.
(then Obama can make her a cabinet sec'y until he appoints her to the first open SCOTUS seat)
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
She is not qualified to sit on the Supreme Court. But there are plenty of others, including other women. She is not owed a consolation prize, especially after the kind of campaign she ran.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
i'm looking forward to obama's concesion speech, myself.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
After all this time, and after what Hillary has put Obama, the voters, and the party through, after throwing the kitchen sink, after playing dirty, Hillary is still the loser. Was it worth all that time and money? Hillary could have easily dropped out of the race, when it was obvious, the numbers just could not do it.
She could have saved her supporters some money.
    What a waste.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
    Who is Hillary Roveham Clinton?
  • glaukopis · 1 year ago
I have to agree with you on this nonsense about how we need to give her 'her night' and allow for her to celebrate. Excuse me? Imagine any male who's ever lost in a nomination fight. Did they get their night in the spotlight instead of the actual winner? Please. These is actually the worst kind of sexism. ' I demand unreasonable things because I'm a woman and I'll whine if you don't give them to me. I need my time to recover.' How in the world could she run this country if this is how she behaves under pressure?

FAR BE IT FROM ME TO SUGGEST THAT BARACK OBAMA WON THE NOMINATION AND hillary clinton IS TOAST.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
good, because if you did suggest that you would be wrong.
  • JennieB · 1 year ago
This should be a day for celebration for all Americans, particularly African-Americans who have waited a lifetime for this moment – one they probably did not think they would never see during their lifetime – unfortunately, it’s being tainted and diluted by that selfish and hateful woman.

I have spent the morning sending e-mails to the Chairs and Committee members of the DNC, DSCC and DCCC letting them know that I not pleased with their wimpitude and will not be donating a cent to any Democratic organization (except Obama) until Hillary official concedes. If they can't handle members of their own party, they don't deserve to be in the majority.
  • Hardy_Haberman · 1 year ago
Now if only Hillary will pt her weight behind Obama we can take back this country! I HOPE she will revel in her "celebration" enough tomight to get it out of her systemn and then graciously pass the torch. As an Obama supporter, I still have lots of hope to go around.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
interesting that the "presumptuous nominee" cannot win any primary elections lately.. as a hilary supporter i am glad she is winning them all and will be glad to see her lead the democrats to victory this year.
  • SkippyFlipjack · 1 year ago
Actually John, even if you don't make it to the World Series, you do get all the press attention during Game 7 if your name is Alex Rodriguez.
  • Bobby_Sambang · 1 year ago
I think the most interesting outcome of this political season, an outcome that has not fully been felt and will continue to unfold as time passes, is the extent to which massive numbers of Clinton supporters--from the years gone by--got a chance to see who the Clintons really are, and what they are actually made of.

And man, it ain't pretty. I mean, it's freakin' ugly in there.
  • tw9ff · 1 year ago
Come on John, Cut the snark. It's over and we're all democrats. Even the Paulies and McCainies are democrats; we just haven't convinced them yet. Remember that you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
  • DitDot · 1 year ago
You stole the words right out of my mouth, John. If I hear one more time that Obama needs to bow to the Queen, my head will spin round and round and round and round ... again. What the !#$. No one needs to tell Obama to be conciliatory towards the Queen. Obama will be a gentleman, as always. He won't rub salt in her wound. But damn, he should NOT have to bow to the Queen on the night he wins the nomination. My *cork* is gonna be popping tonight. Yeah baby! Congrats Barack. Congrats Dems. Thanks for all you do, John.
  • empireofno · 1 year ago
gosh, i know this might be an unpopular opinion among obamabots, but i didn't realise that news editorial staff were now the official choosers of the democratic nominee. i thought it was the voters and the convention delegates.

until one of the candidates has a majority of declared delegates, this collusion between a campaign and a news desk smells of nothing more than chcago-style voter suppression.
