Having survived some unladylike poundings from high-school "Heathers" long before the movie gave them a name, take it from me: A gal who will lie about being named Miss Congeniality--she wasn't--in the Miss Alaska pageant of 1984 will lie about anything. An-nee-thing.

The AP story is actually stronger than John suggests. Did AP change the lede? It now reads:
"John McCain and Sarah Palin criticized Democrat Barack Obama over the amount of money he has requested for his home state of Illinois, even though Alaska under Palin's leadership has asked Washington for 10 times more money per citizen for pet projects."

I would love the hear the phone calls between DC and the MO AP office trying to get Sara Kugler to "correct" her story. Believe me, I know from personal experience that the response from the White House to new that doesn't fit its carefully crafted narrative is swift, vicious, and unrelenting.
Remember the time some reporter wrote something about Bush at an event and Karen Hughes hunted him down on the spot and demanded -- shrieking with spittle flying -- that he retract the story. I think he did, if I remember correctly.
I have a feeling Ms. Kugler will pay dearly for this -- for refusing to show deference and bow and scrape before Sister Sarah.

It was damn noble of AP to report the facts instead of repeating lies HOWEVER who is going to care? The people req who went to the speech won't read the AP article and worse yet won't believe it. They went to drink kool-aid and that is all they care about.
As for the rest of the population, some may read the AP article but if the local papers don't run the story then it is NOT out there.
The BIG question is how to get this downright lying to stop! Or failing that, then HOW to let the general public know that this shit from McCain is down right fraud.

they still gave her a pass.... they half-heartedly mention that she was "apparently for" the bridge early on, but that she rejected it... didn't mention that she rejected it AFTER it became politically expedient to reject it... they also failed to mention that while the bridge itself was cancelled Ms. Palin accepted the money anyway.

Why does the headline suggest something is wrong with Obama whenthe article itself goes on to state that he really isnt even close to having a problem with earmarks like Alaska?
This is excatly why calling them liars needs to be so loud and repeated so many times that there is no ignoiring the possibel headline of "McCain falsely paints etc ....."

It's also interesting to note that the population of Alaska is about 650,000 and Illinois' is almost 13 million. A bald-faced lie indeed. When is the media going to start flogging the liar narrative for palin the way they did in 2000 for Al Gore who was not a liar? I don't think I'll hold my breath.
My husband just had a great idea for an ad. Show McCain and Palin talk and as they talk their noses keep growing.

The candidates puffed, but they didn't lie. They said Obama requested almost $1 billion. In Obama's own report regarding his earmarks, he said that he requested $750 million over the last 3 years.
