More about the Yule Goat
DOJ still has a lot of Bushies as political appointees, in fact that's probably the case here.
In fact, that should be gov't wide policy by now -- gays are to be treated at EVERY LEVEL of gov't as full and equal citizens. If you don't get it, then resign from your position.
It's really not that hard to set policy like this. Cheney held everyone's feet to promote his interests for eight years, and I don't think he wasted any time at all once he got in office.
Or was that only when Bush did it?
There's little to be gained by blind faith, passivity and wagging our tails every time Obama tosses a bone.
So there are plenty of battle ahead. Save your money for where it counts, and make sure that you let the Dems know why you are spending your money there and not with them
Why don't you get out those Monica Lewinsky stamps that you used during the campaigns! You made your bed. Thank yourself for this.
I guess that's all you need to be 'honored' by the gay establishment nowadays. "He likes us, he really likes us!" That he doesn't do crap to repeal DADT or DOMA doesn't mean a damn thing to these so-called leaders. They ought to be shamed.
If they had any balls, they would withdraw the invitation to Biden and tell him that when he or Obama make a major push or at least a major speech (the bully pulpit Obama promised us), only then does he get reinvited.
Consider it a learning experience - it might do him some good.
Maybe Obama could shift Clinton to Justice from State. We need an AG with some balls.
THAT'S the calculus....! And the moral to be learned from this story is: Do not trust anything Obama says about gay issues. They've already completely backtracked on DADT.
What made you think it was EVER a value of ANY kind in this administration? Did you bother to check out this guy's sordid history and crazy beliefs before voting for him? How about those critically acclaimed "autobiographies" he didn't write (but shamelessly takes credit for), all those dubious stories and anecdotes, all those "because blah blah . . . therefore, here I am blah blah" speeches in which the first parts and the last parts never connect by any logic whatsoever? His ability to weave tales and hypnotize the gullible puts every president before him to shame, while the public's willingness to be tricked puts the entire species to shame. When a presidential candidate has an official LOGO for christsake (which he's STILL using) and a FAKE presidential seal, it's a fair bet you're dealing with a maniac and windbag of the first order. And what about ALL those photos with "accidental" halos around or behind his head, the Obama votive candles, the cruciform and transfiguration artworks?
As a gay person, I learned to recognize charlatans pretty early on, but it seems that millions of gay people have been royally hoodwinked, supporting a candidate who secretly looks down on them (except for his wife's makeup artists and stylists), and who would say anything for a vote or a positive magazine cover. Now all that needs to happen to close the traditional gaybasher's circuit is for him to turn out to be gay himself.
Next time, vote for the humble candidate, not the one seeking adoration, and forget selfish interests, because you only get what you pay for.
Again, Obama seems to states have the right to ban blacks from marrying whites:
[T]he public policy doctrine, which has long recognized the sovereign authority of the States to decline to give effect to the laws of a sister State at variance with their own legitimate public policy. Section 2 of DOMA merely confirms the specific applicability of that longstanding principle in the context of laws regarding same-sex marriage.
Well the answer is NO. You think freedom is anarchy, for bit of sex or money. Equality you say? Same rights? And why do you always assume that everybody is entitled to what they want, like a bunch of kids demanding anything they want now now now. No one gets their ways entirely. What kind of a society would a gay society be? Do you even think about it? No, you don't. You want what you want and that's that. Some people have no freedom at all, not even that of expressing themselves or going out. Some people love each other completely without ever being able to be together. Enough with gay rights. Time to play it low. We don't need our kids to be influenced by you, like fashion, like smoking, just to try, you know...A gay world = the end of the human race. I haven't met any gay person who didn't suffer from psychological trauma in childhood. In my 20s, I used to support gays because I didn't think of the consequences, I didn't understand the difference between freedom and anarchy, nor was the difference between love and sex so clear. 20 years later and after having heard several gay people telling me their stories, my opinion has changed a lot. Live your lives as you can, but society needs you to keep a low profile. Don't expect to be granted the same rights as a heterosexual couple, why should you be? What good contribution to society do you have to offer through being gay, what future for our kids?
It is inevitable that people who want the whole world to be just like them, who want the whole world to look and act and believe just as they do, would expect the rest of the world to want the same, and see the world through conflicted-tainted glasses. Gay people do NOT want the whole world to be just like them, they want everyone to be exactly who they are, and to be honored for that. It is inconceivable to Emma and her ilk that the world can be full of many different beliefs and ways of life that can live together and learn from each other without person A always trying to convince person B of person B's errant, even sinful ways, and of person A's cultural, religious and maybe even racial superiority.
Well I'm sorry Emma, you are on the losing side of pretty much everything, and wrong about most all of it. I could care less if you are morally wrong, which I believe you to be, but you are definitely empirically wrong about the basic facts of existence concerning genetics, sexuality, child-raising, etc. When people are killed, either at their own hands or at the hands of others because of what you and your kind are saying; when lives are ruined beginning at childhood; when people cry themselves to sleep for an infinite amount of reasons because of the beliefs you are spouting, then I hope grace pours upon you, because if it doesn't, the ravages of time, karma and whatever truly merciful god there might be will hold you accountable, and find you entirely at fault.
The following eight guiding principles underlie our call to action.
In order to achieve full civil rights now, we avow:
1.Full civil rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals must be enacted now. Delay and excuses are no longer acceptable.
2.We will not leave any part of our community behind.
3.Separate is never equal.
4.Religious beliefs are not a basis upon which to affirm or deny civil rights.
5.The establishment and guardianship of full civil rights is a non-partisan issue.
6.Individual involvement and grassroots action are paramount to success and must be encouraged.
7.Success is measured by the civil rights we all achieve, not by words, access or money raised.
8.Those who seek our support are expected to commit to these principles.

In reality, LGBT people need to tell the Democratic machine to F*(# off for now. When the party has actually ACHIEVED something on LGBT rights, then we'll talk.
Support the state Dems in places like HN, Maine, and your home state if they are actually taking corageuous stands. tell the national Democratic party to suck a lemon until they get Obama back on track for our rights.
John Marty in Minnesota is a Democrat I can be proud of - and he's running for Governor after lead-authoring a bill this year that would pave the way to marriage equality. That's a man that understands the fierce urgency of our fight.

Dear Mr. Bond and Mr Petrillo,
The following is a letter to Barney Frank and Tammy Baldwin. It will be snail mailed to them. You and they need to know that it is being sent to our mailing list and I am encouraging those on the list to forward it to every one they know.
The Obama administration has declared war on our community. We obviously have zero influence on this administration. We need to stop financing our own oppressors.
To Representatives:
Barney Frank
Tammy Baldwin
2446 Rayburn Building
Washington DC, 20515
June 16th.
Today is our Anniversary. We have been together 39 years. We are discriminated against at every turn by the federal government. The administration has declared war on our community. We need to stop financing our own oppressors.
We are consistent if small donors to your political career. It is time for action not just platitudes.
Why would we want to give you another cent if you attend the dinner for Joe Biden, after the administration’s insulting and vicious attack on us? We will encourage every person we know, LGBT and our allies, to stop supporting those who give approval to our oppressors.
It is time for our leaders and community to show some backbone. We will be watching your actions.
Furiously,
Ronald M and Richard D
