Interesting to note that Bill Clinton, so far as I've seen, has been the only Democrat at the Convention who has mentioned "sexual orientation" in a speech. Surely in that mass of blather one would think someone would have the courage to mention that gay people are Americans too?
Foolish me. I keep hoping that someday in my lifetime I won't be looking at the undercarriage of a bus.

Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton both made 'gay' references.

♥ I cannot tell you how freaking AWESOME Kyrsten Sinema is. I met her at the Victory Fund International Leadership Conference in Las Vegas last November and I was blown AWAY by her. She is everything that is good with the LGBT movement and she can go Prada toe to Prada toe with any one! Keep a watch on her Arizona website and send her some sugar. She is one of our best and has been for years. She would make Tammy Baldwin a nice compatriot in D.C.
She is SMOKING hot AND politically active and saavy and then you tell me she's a lesbian??!!
I'm downtrodden and heartbroken....

And Obama's record is what, exactly? Oh yes, his most public statement was that he believes marriage should only be one man/one woman, in California, just months before a vote on a hateful ballot initiative that could go either way.
Supporting Obama is starting to feel mc-same for this gay man.
The last time anyone did anything substantially proactive in the gay rights arena was when Bill Clinton tried to integrate the armed forces. We know how that turned out. (The gay marriage issue was basically forced on legislatures by the courts- I don't discount the importance of Mark Leno or Gavin Newsome, but it's not like anyone else woke up one day and said, 'You know what? Everyone should be equal. I'm going to see to it that happens'.)
The best Obama can do is say that we should be content with 2nd-class citizenship. My husband says that's not enough and I'm starting to agree with him.

Obama has stated that gay couples and straight couples should have the EXACT SAME FEDERAL BENEFITS, i.e. Social Security Survivor Benefits, etc., and that he will work toward that goal.
Now, which candidate do YOU want picking the next Supreme Court justices, Obama or McCain?

Obviously any Dem is better than the addled McCain. I HOPE Obama will be in a position to pick those judges, but why am I in the position of HOPING for someone like Obama to do the right thing?

Of course he will do the right thing. You don't have to hope. Obama has absolutely no intention of putting originalist judges on the court. He will put judges on the court who see the constitution as able to evolve with the changing values of the people it represents. Democrats won't (especially nowadays) put conservative judges on the court. McCain WILL.

Today in America it's a politicial suicide to support same-sex marriage on federal level. I am spanish and here in Spain the same-sex marriage has been approved because all the polls showed that majority of people support it , if it wasn't like that politicians who want to be elected by majority would'nt support it. Sorry for my bad English.

Gay rights is the perfect issue to bring out the white trash Republican voter every four years. Karl Rove knew this well in 2000 and again in 2004. These ballot measures have nothing to do with us. It is all about getting them fired up to go to the polls on election day and pull GOP levers. The day after the election, they go back to hiring us to do their thinking, designing, managing, etc. And in the meantime we cannot have equal rights.
The only solution will be something from the Supremes, as on abortion rights, and civil rights. Legislatures will never allow us full citizenship. They need re-election.
Therefore...if Obama is silent or waffly...I don't give a shit. I know that he will appoint more liberal judges to the high court. And it is THERE that progress will come.

She's good. The nasal presentation needs work, but she's good. She's got the numbers. That's even better. It helps that she's pretty.
