How ya'll doin' folks? Ain't ya'll noticed that as soon as Obama started talking 'bout having 'an even-handed policy' in the Middle East, keeping America's TRILLION$$$ at home STOPPING THE THROWING OF 'WELFARE' TO NATIONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, EUROPE, THE FAR EAST, as soon as he started talking about doing what it takes to keep American jobs in the US -- that is when the MEDIA JUDASES BEGAN THEIR ATTACK.

First it was 'Roosh Limbugstein' with his EVIL IN BRODCASTING NETWORK and his continued attack on the AMERICAN GENTILES WITH HIS 'LET THEM EAT CAKE' PROPAGANDA AND HIS 'OPERATION JUDAS CHAOS' where he is telling 'Repubs' to vote for Hillary (BECAUSE RUSH CANNOT STOMACH OBAMA AS PRES -- SO MUCH THAT HE'D RATHER HAVE H'RE, WHO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT ROOSH SHOULD BE CAREFUL WHAT HE ASKS FOR).

Then there is the Shorn LepriCONNITY with his INSANE AND PENGUIN-LIKE VOICE (AS IN BATMAN'S 'PENGUIN' ) CONSTANTLY ATTACKING OBAMA AND 'LIBERALS.'

Take away the word 'Liberal' and put in 'Communitst' or 'Jew' or 'Jehova Witness,' or 'Slav' and YOU HAVE AN EXACT COPY OF THE TYPE OF PROPAGANDA SPEWED BY THE AXIS BEFORE AND DURING WORLD WAR II.

Shorn IS WILLING TO WATCH AMERICA SINK INTO A DEPRESSION THAT IS CAUSED IN PART BY THE LOWERING OF THE AMERICAN
DOLLAR -- the effect of SO-CALLED 'ALLIES' ABANDONING THE AMERICAN DOLLAR -- OR WORSE YET, REFUSING TO LIVE AT PEACE WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS AND HAVING OUR PEOPLE SACRIFICE TO PROTECT THEIR BACKSIDES.

Shorn Connity, Roosh Limbugstein, unKoolterberg, O'really, Savarage Nazion, Scarfaceborough, Squeal 'like a swine' Borktzstein and all these people ARE PAID BY THEIR MASTERS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, EUROPE, AUSTRALIA AND THE FAR EAST. They are told what to say (just as certain ethnic groups in the US WERE TOLD TO VOTE FOR H'RE AND THE MESSAGE WAS PASSED ON THROUGH 'TEXT MESSAGING.'

Regardless of how many 'conservatives' that Roosh and Connity pretend to have rapport with -- THEY ARE ABOUT RATINGS AND THEIR GOD THE DOLLAR$$$$. They don't care one bit about the AMERICAN PEOPLE -- OTHERWISE THE RUSH JUDAS LIMBUSTEIN AND SHORN THE CON-CONNITY WOULD NOT DO ALL THEY CAN DAY IN AND DAY OUT TO SPLIT THE US AND SPREAD HATRED USING THE SAME PUTRID PROPAGANDA THAT THE NAZIS USED DURING AND BEFORE WORLD WAR II.

THE 'JUDAS MEDIA' INTERVIEWS THE 'FEMINIST CANDIDATE'

WARNING: Don't eat or drink while reading this 'skit' because it is a total LAUGH-O-LYMPICS.

    http://blackmalepowermovement.forumsland.com/bl...

ROOSH 'QUISLING' LIMBUSTEIN AND SHORN CONNITY HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL AT DIVIDING THE AMERICAN GENTILES.

NOW THEY ARE ATTEMPTING A POLITICAL 'CRUCIFIXION' OF OBAMA...GEE...IT SEEMS TRUE THAT HISTORY DOES REPEAT -- SADLY, THE SAME PLAYERS ARE AT THEIR EVIL GAME AGAIN.

MORE ON THE TRICKS OF THE JUDAS MEDIA:

    http://www.blackplanet.com/news/my_news.html?p=...

ROOSH LIMBLOW, SHORN CONNITY, BORKZSTEIN, SAVARAGE, HORRORS-WITS, unKOLTERBERG, AND ALL THESE 'GENTILE HATERS' ARE GIVING JEWISH PEOPLE A BAD NAME.

THEY OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR USING THE SAME TYPE OF PROPAGANDA TO DEMONIZE 'PROGRESSIVES' THAT THE NAZIS USED TO DEMONIZE THEIR PARENTS (AND THOSE WHO FLED GERMANY IN THE 1940'S, AND ARE TODAY BEHIND THE RACIST MEDIA THAT COMES OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST, HOLLYWOOD, NEW YORK, AUSTRALIA, EUROPE AND ELSEWHERE.

WHY WHITE MALES FROM THE WEST AND NORTH SUPPORT OBAMA -- THEY ARE FED UP WITH THEIR SONS BEING SENT TO PROTRECT THE BACKSIDES OF ROOSH LIMBLOW'S AND SHORN CONNITY'S MASTERS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, KOREA, EAST ASIA, EUROPE AND ELSEWHERE, COSTING BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

I think it should be added:

Obama's experience as a community organizer was working with displaced workers from shuttered steel mills.

He knows what these people are feeling and how they tick.

Hillary and McCain may have talked to one or two on the campaign trail, but most of their professional experience has been with the wine and brie sect.

It seems to me that both McCain and Hillary spend far too much time dissecting each and every word that is uttered by Obama. NeitherMCain or Hillary have much to say about their own merits (unless you count lying and flip-floping) so attack your opponent is about all that is left for either of them.

These RepubliCONS are nuts if they think their BS about Obama is going to work and Pat Buchanan is stuck back with the "Hit Parade" and Dorthy Collins. His song just isn't heard anymore. WAKE UP PAT, IT'S OLD BS AND NO ONE IS LISTENING TO YOU. WE ARE FED UP AND WE ARE BITTER, NOT WITH EACH OTHER OR OUR COUNTRY, WHICH WE LOVE, BUT WITH CONGRESS AND THIS ADMINISTRATION. WE ARE SICK OF THE LIES, THE GREED, DEATH AND DESTRUCTION. THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY WANT TO BRING LOVE, PEACE AND RESPECT BACK TO AMERICA, NOT WAR, SEXUAL PERVERSION, AND DIVISION BECAUSE OF RACE! Time for the 3 networks to go. This he said, she said belongs back in jr. high and high school and is not for a mature audience. We are sick, sick, sick of it. It's like a broken record that has been going on for too many years! Time to bring in the new and throw out the old.
YOU GO OBAMA, AND DON'T APOLOGIZE TO THESE IDIOTS.
THE TRUTH IS YOUR POWER AND THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE!
    I LOVE YOU AMERICA!

The Clintons are big time frauds. This is why they wanted so much to hide their tax returns. Turns out while Barack and his wife were struggling to raise their young daughters on a middle class income, the Clintons were raking in MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars in questionable financing. Their excess of wealth is disgusting. We can't afford to have someone so out of touch with reality representing us. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,329987,00.html

Apparently the Clintons' and Mr War think the working class should just smile and cheer while their corporate paid politicians ship their jobs overseas. How dare we complain.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
I support him, but I still think Obama makes a major mistake in lumping legal and illegal immigration together. The people whose jobs were exported to China, Mexico, and other countries are now having to compete with illegal workers from other countries, whether they walked over the borders themselves, were trafficked, or whatever, to fill the needs of the cheap labor advocates in this country.

How would any of you like it if your pay was cut not just in half, but was a third of what you used to make? Working for 1980s wages is just not cutting it for millions of Americans. And for those who can't afford higher education, the outlook is even more bleak. Imagine being 50 years old, doing essentially the same work for 30 years and being expected to afford college and retraining for jobs that even younger, more educated people are vying for.

    http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.d...

Yes, there's a LOT of bitterness out there in the US. When you can stop at a McDonald's in Charlotte, NC and not have a single person speaking enough English you can understand, what are you to think? When you've worked in construction all your life and are still driving that 1990 Ford 150 because your pay has been downgraded by illegal labor for years (and who are now driving SUVs and brand new trucks AND sending money back home), what are you to think? And with the rising price of commodities, with your pay stuck at 1980 levels, you'll never be able to get ahead again, you're either just treading water, or falling back. If boomers think they're going to be able to get a part time grocery clerk's job or anything else similar to supplement their income, they're wrong. And their grandchildren won't even be able to get those afterschool and summertime jobs, either (which incidentally taught many teens something about the work ethic and being independent and helped supplement the family income). And if you believe these concerns are just coming from "white racists" then you haven't been paying enough attention to black voters, either.

There is still one hell of a big elephant in the room. And although I support Obama, NONE of the candidates (and NO politician) has the balls to confront it. It's no longer just an individual's problem or a localized problem, it's a national problem that's being swept under the rug. The cheap labor policies of the ruling class have been shoved down our throats for far too long, at the expense of those with the least voice.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Older and wiser, I get your point about illegal immigrants but I think you are missing Obama's point. It's not the illegal immigrants who are to blame for taking low paying jobs, it is the companies that hire them! Immigrants are trying to feed their families, too and are willing to work for pennies on the dollar. They are being exploited by these companies that don't give a rats ass about anything other than squeezing the most profit out of the most desperate worker. Until these companies are stopped, nothing will change. But to harbor ill feelings for people willing to take those slave labor jobs is keeping everyone distracted while the companies continue destroying this country, totally unabated.

Roger Waters Thinks Hillary Clinton Will Invade Iran
    4/11/2008 By Scott A. Gray

Unlike rapper DMX, Roger Waters knows what the fuck a Barack is, and he knows he’d rather see him in the Oval Office than “the ghastly Hillary.” The Pink Floyd dictator, though ineligible to vote, said he’d “buy a whole page in The New York Times and fly Obama’s flag.” The New York dwelling Brit added, “But I would be terribly afraid they’d go, ‘This is that pinko shitbag who’s attacking our President in [a] time of war,’”

Waters expressed fears that Clinton will strive to measure up to her male predecessors with a touch of imperialist ultra-violence.

“Please, God, let’s not have this woman! Hillary will want to make her mark and show that she can be just as good as a male president, and she will fucking invade Iran.”

It seems to me that the 109 million dollar couple and McCain team up alot. And the 'reporter' who broke the story, Mayhill Fowler, is a known Clinton supporter who somehow got into that fundraiser. Anyone who has read her work on Huffpo knows she is very anti Obama. So, question is why she was there last week and suddenly 'broke' this yesterday. Fowler is typical of the over 60 angry woman supporter of Hillary's. Lots of questions as to how come Huffpo would send her to this fundraiser and how, when closed to reporters, she got in.
  • Cindy411 · 1 year ago
vwcat: "Fowler is typical of the over 60 angry woman supporter of Hillary's."

Camille Paglia said it best: "I agree that the male staff who Hillary attracts are slick, geeky weasels or rancid, asexual cream puffs ... All those seething beta males (as you so aptly describe them) are versions of her sad-sack brothers, who got the short end of the Rodham DNA stick."

Hillary sure stepped into a pile of it, this time! I live in California, not the Rust Belt. My husband was layed off right after Sept 11, 2001, and again 2 more times the next two years. He just turned 65. We've gone through so much of our retirement savings, and just the fact that we can now draw Social Security and a full time paycheck, things are finally looking up. Are we bitter and upset? You'd better believe it! In fact, we're mad as hell! We still have our house, and as long as we are healthy and can keep working, we'll have a home! The way the value of our home is dropping by the day, we most likely won't be able to look forward to one of those new "reverse mortgages"! Until George Bush was elected president nearly 8 years ago, life was always good!

    vwcat,

All points I would like answered. LIKE NOW!

They team-up because Hillary, like Joe Lieberman and John McCain are batshit crazy.

Hillary WILL lead us to more WAR and DEATH, which she, for whatever reason just can't seem to get enough of.

"Know them by the company they keep"
McCain. Lieberman. And every other right-wing loon she can fellate behind the scenes.
    --

News: For 15 years, Hillary Clinton has been part of a secretive religious group that seeks to bring Jesus back to Capitol Hill. Is she triangulating—or living her faith?

It was an elegant example of the Clinton style, a rhetorical maneuver subtle, bold, and banal all at once. During a Democratic candidate forum in June, hosted by the liberal evangelical group Sojourners, Hillary Clinton fielded a softball query about Bill's infidelity: How had her faith gotten her through the Lewinsky scandal?

After a glancing shot at Republican "pharisees," Clinton explained that, of course, her "very serious" grounding in faith had helped her weather the affair. But she had also relied on the "extended faith family" that came to her aid, "people whom I knew who were literally praying for me in prayer chains, who were prayer warriors for me."

Such references to spiritual warfare—prayer as battle against Satan, evil, and sin—might seem like heavy evangelical rhetoric for the senator from New York, but they went over well with the Sojourners audience, as did her call to "inject faith into policy." It was language that recalled Clinton's Jesus moment a year earlier, when she'd summoned the Bible to decry a Republican anti-immigrant initiative that she said would "criminalize the good Samaritan...and even Jesus himself." Liberal Christians crowed ("Hillary Clinton Shows the Way Democrats Can Use the Bible," declared a blogger at TPMCafe) while conservative pundits cried foul, accusing Clinton of scoring points with a faith not really her own.

In fact, Clinton's God talk is more complicated—and more deeply rooted—than either fans or foes would have it, a revelation not just of her determination to out-Jesus the gop, but of the powerful religious strand in her own politics. Over the past year, we've interviewed dozens of Clinton's friends, mentors, and pastors about her faith, her politics, and how each shapes the other. And while media reports tend to characterize Clinton's subtle recalibration of tone and style as part of the Democrats' broader move to recapture the terrain of "moral values," those who know her say there's far more to it than that.

Through all of her years in Washington, Clinton has been an active participant in conservative Bible study and prayer circles that are part of a secretive Capitol Hill group known as the Fellowship. Her collaborations with right-wingers such as Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and former Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) grow in part from that connection. "A lot of evangelicals would see that as just cynical exploitation," says the Reverend Rob Schenck, a former leader of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue who now ministers to decision makers in Washington. "I don't....there is a real good that is infected in people when they are around Jesus talk, and open Bibles, and prayer."

Hopefully, Obama won't relive Gary Hart's 1984 New Jersey nightmare in Pennsylvania:

In late May and early June 1984, Hart was locked in a tight New Jersey primary contest he had to win to deny Mondale a first-ballot nomination at the Democratic convention the following month. At a California fundraiser eerily reminiscent of Obama's this week, Hart and his wife Lee spoke with reporters at a Los Angeles event. In one moment of carelessness, Hart, too, struck a nerve with voters in a critical state. As Time recalled:

In a classic campaign boner, he exposed his sarcastic side at a fund raiser in Los Angeles. The "bad news," he told a well-heeled audience standing on the lawn of a Bel Air mansion, is that he has to campaign apart from his wife Lee. "The good news for her is that she campaigns in California while I campaign in New Jersey." When Mrs. Hart interjected, "I got to hold a koala bear," Hart sniggered, "I won't tell you what I got to hold: samples from a toxic-waste dump."

Hart went from closing fast on Mondale in the Garden State to a decisive 15 point blowout a week later. Mondale went on to sew up the Democratic nomination thanks to the delegates he swept in New Jersey. The rest, as they say, is history.

For more on the history and worrisome parallels, see:
"Will Obama Relive Hart's '84 New Jersey Nightmare in Pennsylvania?"

40 NASA Workers On Same Floor Diagnosed With Cancer

The union that represents hundreds of scientists and other workers said nearly half of the 100 employees on the third floor of the building have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer in the past three to four years.

"What we've seen in the way of cancer here has just been astronomical on this third floor alone and we're just a little scared," said Dennis Pehotsky, of the Lewis Engineers and Scientists Association.

In a written statement, the head of safety at NASA Glenn said an employee survey shows cancer rates among workers are within the normal range, saying "Glenn management has no evidence of the number of cases that the union is reporting."

Unexpected rationality from CNN in this clip over this latest absurd tripartite effort to manufacture a gaffe is surprising. The three parties, Team Clinton, Team McCain and Team Corporate Media, undaunted by their previous failed attempts, again try to work their old style magic. C-SPIN asked the "bitter" question in their 1st half hour while MSNBC can't seem to let it go...one almost pities the establishment for the weekend timing and the general population's growing distaste for manipulation.

It's not just rural America that's bitter, most of the country is pissed off by the lack of leadership in this country. Obama retracted his statement but what he said is tru, however, he should express these touchy issues more clearly because the wingnuts and hillbots are at the ready to take everything he says out of context to peel off white voters in PA. It was a desperate Hillary supporter who taped Obama's speech onto her mobile phone in SF and started this gotcha crap, after Obama muted the Wright issue, which Hillary's campaign unsuccessfully tried to revive this week...no surprise there. The last gasps of a dying campaign.

He can tell the American people direct "YOU are not as obtuse and ridiculous as Mc Caine and Clinton would lilke to pretend. Look at them, I said something clearly, that is true, and they want to pretend it meant something NO ONE else got out of it. If they have this much trouble really, understanding a american born and bred, speaking english, HOW in the world will they fare talking to leaders who English is a second language to?"

Let 'em have it Obama. America has had enough of the feigned indignance, the purposerly misunderstood line...
It's the same crap as pretending being against this awful mistake of a war is being "against the troops".

It's time to get back to reality. Time to stop letting any dickhead that wants to, be able to distract us with this kind of bullshit. Hillary is fucking delusional! Everyone these days is so happy with her Iraq war vote, so content with an ever intrusive government under her tenure that spies on Americans without warrants at will while she looks the other way, so satisfied with Americans engaging in torture abroad, so proud that American Ivy league educated government lawyers (Woo should be treated like Mussolini, assuming the buzzards would pick at this fat satisfied smug turd's rotting flesh) writing and actually agruing that the 4th Amendment does not apply on our shores as it relates to the military, happy that the FBI quizzes jurors that deadlocked in the Wecht case, happy with her Bankruptcy vote, happy with her NAFTA support, happy with her affiliation on the Board with Wal-Mart, happy that Mark Penn is still alive, proud of her lying angry unscrupulous redneck husband, happy that taxpayers dollars are flowing to rescue irresponsible and poorly run private comapnies like Bear Strearns, happy that their CEOs make million, if not billions, so very satisfied are we with the current sstate of our country. What a cucking funt.

It is all so nice these days and we are all so happy. Pie in the sky by and pie.

If Clinton is so isolated that she can’t see the “bitterness” and alienation in Americans struggling to pay for housing, clothing, gasoline and food, then it is clearly undeniable that she doesn’t see their “suffering” or the “urgency” of their need for decent and good paying jobs. In essence, she is saying that she can’t relate to what out of work Amerians are going through. I ask you, who is the elitist here? Who is being ethically and morally clueless and dishonest?

I used to think this site was unbiased. Now, just like Keith Olberman, it's a one-sided Obama loving Hillary bashing site. • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Mirth, I like your new look!

Regarding Hillary's comments: Just absurd. She has nothing of substance to attack Obama on, so she's trying to create issues where none exist. All three newscasters saw through it, so will the public. Especially since Obama's point was that there's a lot of anger out there at the Bushies for their economic decisions, which have shifted wealth to the wealthiest, given no-bid multi-million contracts to crooks, helped his campaign supporters with huge tax-payer funded bailouts, etc. While everyone else is left with wages that don't keep up with inflation, rising gas and food prices, homes that are losing value, etc.

  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
No, he doesn't walk on water. But she lost the election 2 months ago and now is simply hurting our nominee in an effort to... an effort to... well, it's not clear why she's doing this, since she can't win any more. She's simply hurting the party, hurting our chances at victory in the fall. So, yeah, she's pretty much become a Republican at this point as her strategy seems to be one of hoping that we lose in the fall so she can run again in 4 years. I can't think of anything more worthy of contempt than that. So you'd better believe we're going to keep reporting on why the candidate who lost two months ago is still trying to hurt our party's chances in the elections. It sucks for Hillary supporters, and I'm sorry, but she lost two months ago. The race is over.

I hope you are right about it backfiring on McCain and Clinton especially. You expect that sort of reaction from McCain but not from a Democrat. What the hell is the matter with her? 81% of the country says we are on the wrong course--sure there's bitterness out there. She sounds like Rush Limbaugh saying how optimistic everyone is, and pardon me, but how are people "rolling up their sleeves"? Nothing scientific here, but what I see is on the threads, and I am really reading these threads, is that Obama supporters are not abandoning him but defending the accuracy of his remarks and that people all over are chiming in and saying, "Yes, I'm bitter". But again, I hope you are right and it is backfiring on Clinton. Obama should not retreat. Use the attention to keep arguing his point, but don't retreat.

Can't you picture the Hillary team pouring over every Obama word, looking for the tiniest slip from him to use for an attack. That is what they have been reduced to, what they reduced themselves to. Goddamn them all.

I wish I had your confidence that the public will see through them and their nasty tactics. Look at how quickly they folded over the words of Obama's pastor. The public does not want truth.

My confidence comes from the numbers: Bush's latest poll numbers show he's even losing among his base, which can't be good for McSame. Obama is already in all but name our presumptive Dem nominee.

Yeah, I can see Hillary pouring over Obama's speeches just as you say. But you know what...she's already lost. Pennsylvania is going to be close and she needed a big win there. I could go on...she doesn't have the numbers in any of the categories: popular vote, states, pledged delegates and she's losing supers.

Most people will have forgotten this by the time we select our nominee and start going after McSame.

You admit that you have removed yourself from the process, so I have no reservations in telling you to stfu with your Hate Hillary crap.

You aren't part of the solution and that makes you a part of the problem.

"...in a just world he would blow McCain out of the water come November."

Obama will blow McSame out of the water! Right now, McCain's running unopposed because the Dem nominees are focused on going after each other. The DNC can't help either until we have a nominee. That will change in a few short weeks. You just wait. Because McSame is running on Bush's platform and he can't raise enough money [legally or illegally].

Plus, Obama has millions, literally millions, of grass-roots activists to help him go up against the Bushies in government, in the MSM, everywhere. There's no way we're going to let McCain win.

So recoup, cheer up and get your fighting spirit on!

Hillary was very upset at what Obama said about poor people. Everyone in her house was upset. Bill was upset. Chelsea was upset. The butler was upset. The cook was upset. The chauffeur was upset. All the maids were upset.

It's sad that you have to rely on the words of Gloria(my nose is bent from sniffing so much replublican ass) Borger to defend Obama when he talks and screws up because no one was around to write his lines. It looks like this guy will be the new Bush with Chaney's hand shoved up his butt so he says the right words.
  • ScootFL · 1 year ago
When Obama screws up because no one was around to write his lines?

Okay, so Obama said Iraq instead of Iran last week when he was speaking, but where was his screw up that Gloria defended?

And are you even paying attention in this election? You're saying that Obama is going to be the new Bush? Geeze, why not go out and learn some things before you make dumb comments like that.

If you're a progressive, then Obama is the only candidate who's going to look out for your views. You're obviously not one though if you're saying that, out of all three canidates, Obama is going to be the one who's the next Bush.
  • Daniel73 · 1 year ago
Have you even read his bitter white people statement.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
When I first heard the comment, I thought what Obama said was 100% true. Then came this "Breaking News" controversy on Keith Olbermann last night concerning almost week-old comments.

It might not be what some people want to hear because some, like Hillary, believe that we all live in peace & harmony and everyone is constantly happy and optimistic. When I heard her comment, I've never heard someone sound more out of touch with people in my life.

People who have been f**ked over because Washington has done nothing for them are not full of optimism. They're pissed off and they don't trust Washington blow-hards who come through to campaign, tell them what they want to hear so they'll vote for them and never see anything done to help them out. It's been happening for decades.

Some of these people cling to (and are encouraged by the Republican Party) issues like guns, abortion, gay marriage and vote for these when they are earning low wages, have no health care, can't file for bankrupsy, can't make their mortgage payments, etc. This is the absolute truth.

Anyone with intelligence and who really knows the people who are in question knows he's spot on.
  • Daniel73 · 1 year ago
I'm an old style Democrat I can look out for my own views that way they stay my views and not somebodies interpretation of my views. I want someone that will look after my country. Your guy is more interested in looking out for his own agenda.

Obama just used the old if I offended anyone routine to explain his bitter white folk statement, I wonder if all the uneducated hicks will be able to understand what he is saying.
  • mario · 1 year ago
As usual, John has put a pro-Obama spin on Obama's inability to connect to the working class by attacking Hillary for being wealthy.

Note to John: it was Obama, Mr. Orator himself, who stuck his foot in his mouth, not Hillary, and Obama himself has acknowledged that he misspoke.

Another note to John: one of Obama's core supporters are those who make more than $50,000 a year.

Can you imagine if *Hillary* had made those statements? John would have ripped right into her! But since it was St. Barack the Good who made the gaffe, John, as usual, gives him a pass.

Sometimes I wonder who is *more* rabidly anti-Hillary: the leftwing bloggers or the rightwing bloggers.

So what if the Clintons are wealthy? Last time I heard, it wasn't against the law to become wealthy by selling books or by charging for speeches.

Don't *we* wish we were wealth?

More to the point, just because someone is wealthy does not mean that she or he is not able to connect to the working class. In fact, one of the greatest presidents the working class ever had was FDR, who came from a world of wealth and privilege.

Obama *does* have a problem connecting to the white working class, who *do* see him as an Ivy League elitist, and that's not Hillary's fault, that's Obama's fault, and all of the lofty platitude-filled speeches in the world that don't address the concerns of the working class aren't going to help him make that connection.

If Obama is the Democratic nominee, he is going to need the support of the white working class to beat McCain, so he had better start working on his inability to connect to the working class right now.

Nice one, Nubianem. bit rantish but still nailed it. Judas media is a cool phrase. Covers it from both angles, ownership AND conduct.
  • ericgoldman · 1 year ago
I first heard about this as breaking news from Keith Olbermann on Friday night, not from either the Clinton or McCain campaigns. And like it or not, this is Obama's "Macaca" monent, when an unscripted comments shows his true self.

Obama goes to church; small town gun-toting folks go to church. The small town gun-toting "others" go because life has left them bitter. Obama goes to church because . . . Couple this with discussions about the church Obama chose to attend, and you've got a Republican smear machine boondoggle.

The issue here is that this mis-statement strikes at a fundamental concern about Obama, unspoken by the media (and many others) for fear of being labeled prejudiced. Obama has an elitist's sense of entitlement that colors how he deals with people and issues. It's the thing about him I find most troubling, because it's a blind spot no one will discuss.

He truly believes he deserves this nomination, despite the fact that having raised more money than Hilary he can't definitively beat her; so he and his supporters demand she withdraw because, can't she see, can't everybody see, he is entitled to this? And he will go into the general election with the same attitude about John McCain, even though the polling shows a dead heat there.

No, this is news because it's true. And no amount of trying to pin this on Hilary, McCain or the MSM is going to change that fundamental fact -- the event Barack Obama can have a flaw.

Obama basically calls white poor and middle-class Pennsylvanians a bunch of redneck gun nuts. It is not his fault.

No, it is the fault of Clinton. You guys are unreal.

    naschkatzehussein,

This country is so far from being ready to tackle our problems, to "roll up our sleeves," to realistically face and then deal with our decline with resolve and fortitude. This may not be the year we begin to act in our best interests. We may need to sink completely into 3rd world status before we can begin to rise.

I'm seriously depressed that speaking truth is seen as something to apologize for.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
    Mirth,

your words are like a mind meld.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
This problem for Obama is what happens when someone tries to speak truth to citizens. The politician's playbook says a candidate must be upbeat and their words must feed a rosy picture, in spite of what is actually true. We all know truth, but it must not be spoken aloud. Like children, we want the rosy picture rather than reality. I wish Obama had not admitted that what he said was wrong. It wasn't wrong. But is it any wonder why he did admit error?

My dislike of Hillary Clinton is morphing into pure hatred.

Thanks. But I may have been premature in my confidence that this nonsense would blow over. Because I just went over to Crooks and Liars. They have a post up about how a guest host for CNN's Lou Dobbs just spent an hour, an entire hour, discussing this. Because, you know, it's so much more important than reporting on how Bush ordered torture out of the White House.

I'm going to go scream at a brick wall for a while...
