So -- with friends/relatives visiting from the US, it's all about what YOU are a fan of!

Sorry, but you really show that the old saw about the French being impossible to be around (at least Parisians) -- snobby, egotistical, etc. -- is true.

Hint: When giving your itinerary of the day, say, " We are going XYZ -- there is also a parade, but we aren't going to that." Why do you always have to show that you are superior to everyone else? (You aren't, of course, and I think most readers see that.)

    shell,

Your post was really rude and completely unnecessary.

    Vive la France!

shell really seems to dislike Chris and everyone else who comments on his posts for some inexplicable reason.

How the hell do you know Chris' friends like parades anyway? I freakin' hate parades, and if I went to visit Chris and Joelle and they wanted to drag me to a parade, I'd go along grudgingly and hope that French parades are more interesting than American ones. (They probably are.) Sheesh, all the guy was doing was relaying his plans for the day. Lighten up.

I don't "in the hell" know whether Chris's friends like parades or not. HE made the point to mention that HE hated them. Not a word about his friends.

You may order ME to "lighten up" all you like, but I notice that very few comment on Chris's articles, and I suspect it is because he is so holier-than-thou.

Now, back to your hero worship.

Hmmm... I noticed Chris also said "we" are doing this, that, and the other, not "I'm making them do this, that, or the other because I hate the stuff they really want to do." He mentioned his friends throughout the post. I guess it's a matter of reading comprehension. I suspect if the few people who comment on his posts are like you, he'd rather be ignored. I've never met Chris actually, so I can hardly "worship" him, nor would I if we ever did meet. He seems like a decent guy to me, based on his writings. Just because people don't comment on them doesn't mean they don't get read. I read almost every post on Americablog but don't always have time to comment.

"I guess it's a matter of reading comprehension."

I don't guess -- I know it is. Read more -- maybe you will get better at comprehension.

"I suspect if the few people who comment on his posts are like you, he'd rather be ignored."

Wow! You "guess" and "suspect" a lot! But I'm sure Chris WOULD like it if those who disagreed with him didn't comment -- and I'm sure most don't comment. W.O.T.

I knew this guy in college who was born on July 14 and his name - seriously - was Bob Steale. So of course he insisted that July 14 was BobSteale Day.
