AMERICAblog: Begala: Time for the media to call McCain/Palin on their lies

  • iamevolved · 1 year ago
Yeah, but she's a hockey mom. A reformer. A pit bull. And, especially, a woman. We can't question her or we are sexist! But it's OK to have a McCain support call Hillary a bitch. Flipping Republicans. I hate them.

"Don't shoot the monkey when you can shoot for the organ grinder."

So did Begala call Sarah (Plain) Palin a Monkey? LOVE IT!!

Can't wait to watch the right-wing crazies soil their panties over that one!

What about an unchallenged Meagan McCain declaring that only the McCain knows about war.

One more try for the link:

What about an unchallenged Meagan McCain declaring that only the McCain family knows about war.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMxp5UkeGCc This is toleranence and undersatnding and surely lend itself in the least to any charge of arrogance.

    YAY PAUL!

    palies
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Thank you Paul Begala.

Everything out of Palin's mouth is a lie.
I didn't think it was possible to be a bigger liar than Bush....but she even beats him at lies.

Why is the media so scared to say the word 'LIAR'

    As Josh Marshall said yesterday:
Think about that. On the stump, not a single word that comes out of her mouth -- or not a single word that the McCain folks put in her mouth -- is anything but a lie. I know that sounds like hyperbole. But just go down the list. None of them bear out.

    Politics is a contact sport.

If Palin is NOT READY for unscripted interviews on world affairs and domestic issues, she is NOT ready for the role of VP or, heaven for bid, President.

Palin needs more executive experience than the short year-and-a-half or so as Governor.

Governor of a state with a population about the size of two cities Bakersfield California.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Liar and Scam Artist:

As for that chef, the one she supposedly fired to save the state $45,000? Well, she didn't.

Remember the long-time executive chef who lost her job at the Mansion when Sarah decided to live mostly in Wasilla instead of Juneau? Stefani Marnon was first reassigned as a "constituent relations assistant" in the governor's office and later to the state museum.

Earwigs report she's finally landed where they really appreciate a good chef: the Legislative Lounge.

So apparently, the chef was also a luxury she thought Alaskans should pay for.

I've gotta admit. As a scam artist, she's pretty good.

Afraid Begala is preaching to the choir. We all know this about the lies but the 'faithful' Palin worshipers will never believe it. But if this can reach some of the undecideds it might make an impact.

The problem is the repugs know they are lying, we know they are lying, but the Obama campaign has to tread lightly and not come right out and say 'lying.'

Can you imagine the uproar the msm and the McCain campaign would have if Obama went on TV and said Palin and McCain are liars!!!!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
That is exactly what Obama or Biden need to do.

Look what is at stake......why be afraid to call a Liar a Liar??
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
It would get the media attention away from McStupid and co.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Damn well would !!!!
  • curlytoes79 · 1 year ago
Are you sure Begala isn't just a disgruntled Americablog reader? hehe
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Sorry, but so what? So, Paul Begala called out the media - again. While I like and respect him, it's just no big deal. Ya think Fox and NBC will just lay down and die because Paul Begala said so? He and so many others did this in prior months and previous elections. Hey, guess what happened? Nothing changed.

The accusations have to come either from the candidates or their surrogates, not the media. The media can investigate the accusation, but the charges have to come from the candidates. Hell, they are the people running for office, they should have the fortitude to defend their platforms, policies, visions and find faults with their opponents.

A football team doesn't have the fans run on the field and face the opposing team. They get out there and fight to win.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    A pathological liar at that.

    mcsame/palie

    vote stupid
  • truebluecoondog · 1 year ago
Personally, I would like to see more of Sara's church on TV. I saw some clips last night and I found that more frightening than any bridges or pork barrels. She is a fundamentalist COO-COO. How can you elect a VP who is focused on the End Times and not the Times We Are Living IN??????

Also, I would like to know what book(s) she was trying to have removed from the Wasilla library.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Interesting too that she was baptized Roman Catholic....but now is Assembly of God (Pentecost)

Hope all the catholics know she believes they are all going to hell....along with all the non-Christians.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
I hear a video exists of a bee-hived hairdo strychnine guzzlin' baby oiled lathered Palin in a trance dance with rattlesnakes wearing only a bullet belt all while babbling in tongues.

Kinda' like a Jesus loving Barbarella on acid. I am working on a sketch.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
If they don't want to use the word LIAR......which every American would understand....
    How about a synonym:

cheat, deceiver, falsifier, exaggerator, fabricator, fibber, perjurer, prevaricator, pseudologue
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Deceiver would be a good one. It is used as one of the names for the Devil. If they want to play religion, we should start using words they understand.
  • truebluecoondog · 1 year ago
ALSO, don't let it go forgotten that we STILL have not seen the McCain's tax records. I'm sorry, but Cindy and John are MARRIED. If Bill Clinton's finances came into play, so should Cindy's.

Is it true that the McCains spend over $125,000 per year on household staff?
  • grandma · 1 year ago
$273,000 for household employees last year 2007.
The McCains increased their budget for household employees from $184,000 in 2006 to $273,000 in 2007, according to John McCain's tax returns.

I saw this. It was GREAT. I emailed Crook and Liars to have them show us that someone out there DOES have the balls to speak up.
It was very uplifting to me to see SOMEONE ...anyone...speak up.
The way Paul wouldn't let the host John Roberts end the segment....Paul didn't let the segment end with the conversation being unclear. the conversation WAS clear and he didn't let the "get away" with that spin.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Here is the Republican response: if it reflects poorly on Palin then it's a smear.

That's their only defense. Over and over they dismiss ANYTHING negative as a smear. It's like they're saying "tell it to the hand" or in other words; "shut up."

Why can't Republicans discuss issues like adults?
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
I think the media owes it to the American people, to disprove lies, and call the culprits on it. They were instrumental in helping Bush get elected, by pouncing on and ridiculing Gore, neglecting to investigate the stories about Bush, the man who was AWOL. Same with Kerry, they helped the swiftboaters attack a war hero, making Bush, who had already messed up the Iraq war, look like the greatest war president. They were disgusting as media. Here we have McCain and Palin lying through their teeth, and trying to win the elections, just like Bush, through lies and attacks, but there is no outrage or anyone in the media calling them out on it.

The McCain camp is once again, lying, and treating the American people as if they are stupid.

The following link might explain why the Democrats are always unable to get their message out. They are either drowned or blocked
    by the republican owned media.

Speaking of lies...the banned-books story about Palin has been clarified by Snopes.com. Acoording to contemporary newspaper accounts and city council minutes, while she did ask the Wasilla librarian how someone would go about removing a book from the library, both before and during her tenure as mayor, she never placed in the official record an actual list of titles. The books are a generic list of books that the religious right would like to burn.

Obama's answers to Olbermann's questions last night were very lackluster. He refused to bite when Olbermann gave him repeated opportunities to lash out harshly at the republicans. It was very disappointing. Keith and Rachel later surmised that he may be holding back until the debates, that he and Biden will squash McCain and Palin then. I hope they're right.

Obama also mentioned quickly that the media needs to do their job and report the truth. It was difficult to hear that on the day that Keith had been banished from debate or election coverage.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
This all mystifies me. When did Begala, who fully supported Hillary and Bill, and still does, become a hero to Obama supporters? I thought unity was a dead body buried alongside Clintonism.
  • dbeden · 1 year ago
" She carried so much pork home she got trichinosis."
    Brilliant!
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
I think we all know where this is headed: The media narrative that accusations about the truthiness of the McCain campaign are totally partisan arguments made by liberal wags.

Were the hell is Biden? He should be after the PitBull with lipstick and muzzle her with the truth. Is anyone running this Democratic campaign anymore? Come on you guys, get busy or we are surely going to lose this election and it will be your own damned fault, again.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
Good point. Wasn't Biden supposed to be the "attack dog"?
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Yes and this is looking more and more like 2004 but with another person inserted into running for the presidency and there is Obama staying above it all on a pedestal ignoring the fight hoping the people will listen to his mini lectures instead of using some strong, short and pointed sound bites. We need to bloody their noses with their own rhetoric and it isn't happening. (again) Obama had better start listening to the people and not his "stay above it campaign strategy."

The House just pulled the very same thing by helping out the Republicans since they would vote against the child health care bill only to have it vetoed by the "Supreme Ruler" What are they thinking? Stick it to the republicans and make them vote against a popular bill just before the election. You know they would do it to the democrats. But no, we are so used to being the "nice guys" we would rather lose and take the high road. I am so sick of this spineless bunch that are all talk and no action when it is really needed, yet they continue to ask for money to run their campaign. I hate to say it, but I am expecting the worst out come from this election. We are using the same game plan we did the previous two election cycles and the republicans are using their same game plan. One would have thought we had learned our lesson. We're expecting a different result. ( 2 out of 3 anyone? ) They love losing.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I totally agree with you. I just don't get the strategy unless they are totally confused. Hillary must be doing a "Told you so". Whatever is in place on October 15 is what will be the outcome on election day (due to early voting). So we will pretty much know by then. If it's a loss, I'm totally done with Democrats. I'll vote Green or Socialist or write in or something. No more money or volunteering from me.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
I'm with you on that. Perhaps, it's time a new party was started that actually listened to the progressives and forgot about what the fence sitters think. It we really want a change, this may be the only way to achieve it. I will give the Democrats this one last chance and if they screw it up again, they're history with me. I quit giving money to them a year ago when Pelosi and Reid did their reaching across the isles and giving away the store. I quote Obama: "Enough!!"
  • downindixie · 1 year ago
Please,Oh Please Obama stand up to these lies, call them that! Stand up for us and yourself! I'm hoping you and Biden will out perform in the debates, but don't count on the moderators help, look for them to assist the repukes.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
way to go Paul Begala...and that stooge Alex Castellanos was trying to say 'let's be gentle now, all politicians try to do something for their state...

That is bullshit when the whole Maverick Reformer thing is about changing the political machine, don't you think?
    bullshit bullshit bullshit
  • jeanieous · 1 year ago
This is good. Maybe every time a Dem gets in front of a camera, it would be good to point out that we have a corporate-owned conservative media and whine about the unfair coverage. Then in 5, 10, maybe 100 years, that meme will have replaced "liberal media."
  • SuzanneNYC · 1 year ago
For the past 10 dyas the news has been about Palin Palin Palin. Even the blogs are focused on Palin. Obama is nowhere to be found. And when he does make an appearance it's still about Palin. Obama has lost traction completely. Biden is invisible. This is not a good thing. The Democrats must fight to reclaim the media megaphone. We who care must fight to reclaim the focus on issues -- although I fear this fight is already lost.
