Fox News has Biden up on Palin, not by much, but up.

only poll I saw was a "who do you think WILL win" poll, not a "who won" poll.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
The Chicago Tribune polling has Biden beating her 3 to 1 (Biden 75%; Palin 25%), and that's a pretty Republican paper and audience usually.

How can the Repubs hope to win after that superb performance y Biden??

I read Joe's book last spring "Promises to Keep' ....he talks about the accident and his life during that time.......he's a good man.

Maybe Sarah could best serve her party by resigning as vp candidate and returning to Alaska to endure her "troopergate" fate.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Biden wasn't wearing lipstick; but, Sara obviously was. You have to commend Joe for not mentioning that little factoid.....

"I live in a beautiful house that's my total investment". JUST the right subtle dig at Alaska, I thought.

On Fox News, Charles Krauthammer praised Palin’s performance, but had to admit: “I wasn’t impressed by the depth of her knowledge or the breadth of her issues.”

After that, she's not even funny anymore. If She and McCain were to win then there could be no doubt left that this is a rigged election and American democracy has died.

And I love too the recent attempts by some on the FOXRight to try and shift the blame for the unfolding economic disaster onto Bill Clinton. Paid partisanship just doesn't come any uglier than today's USA.

That was powerful. I was shocked when he choked up.

It was, I think, 35 years ago. I can't imagine the pain but I wondered if he just didn't talk about it because he'd moved past. It would make sense that he'd put it behind him since it was quite awhile ago.

I think we know a little more of the answer now. I thought it threw him off a little from that moment on, but it was OK - he kept that passion and sincerity rather than being polished. I think people will react to that.

His daughter was like 13 months old, you probably never get over that.

I think that was a very powerful moment in the debate, because you had this contrast of Joe Biden, who was real and connecting with the voters, and then in the next instant you had Sarah Palin spewing another memorized talking point. I think the CNN whatever line didn't rise much for her after that.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Did you notice that Paliln did not have the compassion to acknowedge his pain, or mention anything about it? She went on on a tangent about what a maverick McCain was. Compassionate conservative?
  • iWoman · 1 year ago
Yeah. She had a weird moment of pause before she spoke, too, when I almost thought she was going to say something critical of him or contradict him.

Makes me choke up thinking about that kind of loss. You go Joe...

    How cold! Where's the humanity?

I don't care if it's an opponent, even an enemy, how can ANYONE not offer a kind word of compassion after that clear and sincere expression of pain by Biden?

I cried with Biden and was absolutely stunned that she did not come back with a moment of kindness and understanding for a fellow human being.
    Wow, just WOW!

All the bible thumping they do, yet they are the complete antithesis of WWJD.

I updated the video, the first one had too long an intro that wasn't relevant.

Weirdly inhuman, I thought. Then again, this is the woman who paraded her pregnant teen daughter all over the media and used her difficult situation to create a political narrative about "respecting life." My son thinks she's a sociopath (and not just because she enjoys shooting exhausted, terrified wolves and bears from planes). She has charm, but no empathy and seems to lie with no remorse or even acknowledgement to herself that there is a difference between a lie and the truth. Scary, but a born politician. She's like Bush in that I can't stand to listen to her and I hate the smarmy smirk and passive aggressive "teasing" and jabbing she does.

i said to my husband last night -- it would be great to see her have a melt-down and maybe shed some tears, but then I said, that I truly believe she lacks the human quality necessary to actually break down....

I can recognize sociopathic behavior very well and she and Todd exhibit a 'whole heckuva lot' of those characteristics....

she's definitely got something unhinged there -- she never shows the least bit of 'humanity' in her -- it's quite frightening.

Joe did a stellar job tonight in the debate, and he highlighted his humanity with the brief manly show of emotion when talking about his gravely ill sons.

A moving chance to see the man behind the politician. Hillary Clinton had an unguarded teary moment during her campaign, and it played well in the polls for her--sometimes the unscripted emotions ring true. I certainly appreciated seeing the real man, and could only guess how awful he felt as he recalled those days.

I think when Palin ignored Biden's pain, she became just another politician. Even an opponent should have acknowledged it...
