JImmy Carter messed up his administration with his insightful "malaise" talk. He was insightful and correct to say that there was a malaise in the American life that was causing people's discontent. He was not a shrewd politican to say so outloud though. Hillary, slugging down her whiskey and talking guns and church and all is acting out the role of a shrewd politican. If she can keep that charade going long enough, she's going to snag the nomination even yet. Insightful commentary and upright behavior are not characteristics of the White House. Obama, Carter, moralists like Wilson and Jefferson . . . these are not the stuff of the presidency. For every Lincoln, there's been half a dozen Nixons. The presidency most often goes to schemers like Nixon and the Bushes and, yes, the Clintons. I don't like to say so but I think the nation's history supports my conclusions here.

Not a chance. Do you actually know a single person who would vote for her? She has the highest negatives of any candidate in history. Plus every Obama supporter I know would no more vote for her than vote for Hitler. Billary would lose to McCain by a huge margin. After her dirty campaigning hijinks, the African-American community totally despise her and Slick Willie.

Obama's point was correct but very poorly phrased, as he himself has admitted. In modern campaigns where everything is recorded and the media is waiting for the next "gotcha" moment, such slips can be devastating to a campaign. ESPECIALLY when Obama's biggest asset is seen to be his speaking ability. And when the media will continue to be tough on the Democrat (whoever it ends up being) and will give McCain a free ride.

Obama is going to need to *continuously* be twice as good as McCain to even have a shot at keeping this race close enough to make it impossible for Diebold to steal another election for the GOP. Too many more of these moments and he's toast. It's unfair, but it's the truth.

Since Bill Clinton brought up the middle class and taxes I think it is appropriate to link to this article concerning corporations and taxes. I was in shock as I read in the Sunday paper that middle Americans are paying through the teeth on taxes and corporations pay virtually NO TAXES. It is a short article and worth the read.

Watched Obama make a great speech in Pittsburgh just now. He really gave a few great shots at Hillary. Awesome. I am glad he is fighting back so well, and that he is not tolerating these nasty attacks from either opponent. He is quite humorous too. I think he has going all out and speaking out now, very strongly, against Hillary's mean tactics, and exposing her for what she really is.
    Good going, Sen. Obama.

Can someone please let Hillary know that John McCain is looking for a experienced woman for a VP. She seems to forget that it was not that Gore was an elitist, it was that the voters that were disillusioned with the Clintons that cost him the election (if in fact you believe that he lost, which she apparently does)
  • alexa · 1 year ago
She'd deserve it if Gore came out today and endorced Obama.

You can tell if Bill and HIllary Clinton are lying by seeing if their mouths are open. The Politico and Ben Smith are one of the few sites to keep up with their serial lying. http://www.politico.com/

The Clinton legacy of failure will be remembered for one thing: "I did not have sex with that woman", lol.

All morning the talking heads have been saying that his "bitter" comment and his lousy bowling will play poorly with the poor and middle class in Pa. If we are now electing a President based on his bowling ability we might as well just give the country to the Chinese. I think Obama bowled like most of us--terribly. They take great delight in showing up the supposed weaknesses in Obama and gives McCain a complete pass.

Al Gore's biggest problem was the Clintons. The Gores and Clintons did NOT get along privately. Given what we see today of these Clintons, that's not hard to understand. They think politics were created just for them to manipulate any which way that serves them. And the media continues to hang on their every word. I regret having voted for him, because it gave rise to her. Hillary is a disgrace to this country.

Gore had a chance to endorse Obama, but failed to do so when it was needed. I've heard that he is licking his lips at the prospect of Obama slipping up and then Gore sees himself waltzing in at the last minute as some kind of white knight. Ever since he meekly conceded in 2000, I don't trust him. He has a lot of ties to the Clintons and that is bad enough to make him suspect. I'll never understand why Gore chose his own selfish agenda instead of supporting Obama. http://www.politico.com/playbook/0308/playbook2...

Remember all you lower middle class beer and liquer imbibers, to make a Virgin Hillary substitute chutzpa and bathwater for the vodka while adding horseradish and hot pepper sauce to the tomato juice and celery…Oh, and in England, a Virgin Hillary is still called a Bloody Shame.

The last time I looked - and I could be wrong - Bill Clinton wasn't running for the nomination.

Wow, this is so filled with inaccuracies the mind boggles.

    1. Barack Obama spoke about small town Americans. He said they are bitter and that's why they turn to guns and God. Not only is this not true, this was not an attack on the middle class; this was an attack on small town America, faith and the Constitution.
    2. Bill Clinton was not talking about small-town American -- he was talking about the middle class, many of whom do not live in small town America. And he never suggested that the faith of middle class Americans was not genuine.
    3. Hilary Clinton said that Al Gore and John Kerry were viewed as elitist and out of touch. And they were. And they LOST.

Seriously, I'm beginning to think that Karl Rove has taken an advisory position at Americablog. This posting is nothing but a factually flawed smear aimed at diverting attention from the flaws of Barack Obama -- he views small town America as an "other" that he can objectify and discuss with detachment as having nothing to do with him.

No one is saying Barack Obama is not a good man. He is a very good man. But he has a problem here. Like it or not, "Bubba" can relate to small town America. Hilary has done an exceptional job building support in small towns in rural New York. And McCain is a war hero.

Barack and his supporters need to deal with this now.

Her TV ad that tries to portray her childhood self as a rural gun-totin bumpkin is ridiculous. In it she notes the vacation home on the lake had no indoor shower! Poor child! A lot of regular houses in the 50's had tubs, no showers. And how un-elite of her to have access to a second home on the water.

The GOP has always been hoping that Billary would win the nomination. That's why ever since last year they've flip-flopped and been publishing mostly glowing stuff about her (ie FreeRepublic, Drudge, Instapundit, National Review's Corner). While at the same time they were attacking Obama with every nasty rumor 24/7. It's been obvious to anyone for a long time that the Republcans are afraid of Obama and want more than anything to face Shillary in the general election. And for the braindead Hillbots, a big clue might have been that Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter literally endorsed Hillary over McCain!

    STFU and DROP OUT.

    Thanks

I just knew that when this story broke, that it was going to come back to haunt Hillary. Of course, the MSM will probably ignore the reality, they love their little controversies and the chance to pontificate all over the place that they don't want the story to die yet. It is our job as progressives to make the Clinton said it too angle s†ick.
