    Despicable

Ai-yi-yi. Bill has been such a drag on Hillary's campaign, you almost have to wonder if it's deliberate. She would have done better to keep him at home with duct tape on his mouth for the entire process.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
    Unreal.
  • jr · 1 year ago
Nice to see Bill using the talking points of the right wing radio hosts whose careers he helped by signing the Telecommunications Act of 1996
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Absolutely. There was no mystery why Murdoch would hold a fund-raiser for Hillary. He owes Bill big time.
  • Rab · 1 year ago
Nice to see Bill is the new Zell Miller.
  • scooter in brooklyn · 1 year ago
confusing. i though joementum was the new zell miller.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
It's a rotating position. Joe was the new Zell Miller last month. Try to keep up.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Ya know, we were warned about the Clinton's and I for one, ignored it.

I want my two votes back, Bill.
  • scooter in brooklyn · 1 year ago
he sure has gone from beloved former president to major embarrassment in nothing flat.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
    It's the black guy's fault!
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Makes you wonder why Hillary doesn't repudiate him. Hell, that would earn her a lot more respect than letting him go on with these slurs. He's making her look very bad. Maybe they want her to be on McCain ticket as there is no way she will head the Democratic ticket or even take the second spot.
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
Okay, it's official. I now really really despise Bill Clinton.
  • scooter in brooklyn · 1 year ago
    disturbing picture there, dave.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I think so too, especially knowing Rupert Murdoch's global ambitions.
  • Justice_Manning · 1 year ago
Hillary loves her country so much, that she's willing to fight to the death to hand McCain the presidency so that we can have 4 more years of Bush policies.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
Yep, I think that pretty much sums it up. Too bad the damn little people got in the way! :)

David Zachary Scruggs, the son of the well-known and recently disgraced trial lawyer Richard F. Scruggs, reached a plea agreement on Friday with federal prosecutors who had charged him with a role in a conspiracy to bribe a state court judge. Zachary Scruggs, as he is known, has agreed to plead guilty to knowing of and concealing a felony — the bribery conspiracy — and prosecutors are recommending that he receive a sentence of probation, according to court documents. Mr. Scruggs’s father pleaded guilty to a role in the conspiracy last week and faces up to five years in prison.

Have we mentioned that these guys are Trent Lott's brother-in-law and nephew?? Isn't that relevant?

An unsettling problem I have with all this Clinton shi*, is my ardent support of him to family and friends. They always knew I had a screw loose, thank g-d they love me anyway.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
I have the same problem. Now, every time I try to make an argument on the topic of the moment, I get the rolling of eyes and "yeah, but, remember how much you looooved the Clintons?"
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
Do you think that we should all chip in and give Hillary a bracelet reading...DO NOT RESUSCITATE
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
    LOL!
  • dula · 1 year ago
Well was he talking about the Primary or the General? Maybe we are jumping to conclusions here.
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
Nora O'Donnell said he was talking of McCain and Hillary as the two who love this country--I jumped the gun in quoting her but is there really any doubt?
  • dula · 1 year ago
John should put that in its proper context
  • EdNSted · 1 year ago
"It'd be a great thing if we had an election where you had two people who love this country, who were devoted to the interest of the country and people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues instead of all this other stuff which always seems to intrude on our politics."

And who said the art of innuendo was dead? It reminds me of my cat who sits in a pile of disembodied feathers and stares at me with his most serious "What bird?" look.
  • Jump to the Left · 1 year ago
For the love of the county, I wish candidates would STOP attacks based on claims that their opponents don't love the country.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Please!! Would someone get Bubba a dozen Big Macs? He needs to get off whatever diet he's on.

Seriously, though, Bill & Hill have become the most Toxic Couple around.
  • ndtovent · 1 year ago
As the bashing accelerates from the clinton camp., i'm really hating (i know - such a strong word, but it applies) the potential casting of my vote for her in the general - but I'll still do it if she gets the nod (don't think it will happen now, but ANYbody is better than another mccainbush, even diabolical hillary)
  • cswartout · 1 year ago
Not sure this is as bad as folks are saying. I think the quote is not so clear as I read it. I'd like to read it in a fuller context to assess its meaning.

Full disclosure: I am a full throated Obama supporter.
  • ndtovent · 1 year ago
O/T - ok... I'm very new to the blog comments format. Not sure how it refreshes other than typing cntrl R or clicking on the 'number comments' link after 'discuss this post here.' I see the yellow stripe flash highlighting my own comment, but that's it...
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
Bill just can't keep his foot out of his mouth, and I don't want to hear it was a slip of the tong ... EVERYthing they say has a meaning.
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
Just heard the context of what bill said. He is definitely implying Obama doesn't love his country. FUCK YOU BILL CLINTON!
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
I'm really starting to think that the Clintons are making it so Obama loses in Nov., so Shrill will get another crack at it.

Can't wait to see Hillary campaigning for Obama, ya right.
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
We'd be better off if both Clintons take a long vacation in Mongolia up until the general election. She should give an endorsement to Obama at the convention and then GO AWAY!
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
We won't give them another crack at it whether Obama wins or loses (but I know he will win). And I don't want either of the Clintons involved in the general election because you know they would try to sabotage his chances so that in their minds, they would have another crack at it.
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
Hillary is the most untrustworthy politician out there. She will lie, cheat and smile in your face. She has lost this race but she won't concede until she feels she's done enough damage to hurt Sen. Obama.

I wish the MSM would get some balls and start pointing this out.
  • markwatl · 1 year ago
Gee, I though it was he who was getting a BL in our oval office.

Where is the link to this other than Atrios with no context, no source, no place, time etc. or who it was said to or why?
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
A film clip was just shown on Hardball. Heard Bill say it.
  • HolySmokesBaby · 1 year ago
"Bill Clinton: Hillary, McCain and Obama - one of 'em doesn't love our country. Guess who?"

I don't agree with your take on his actual statement.
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
Care to explain it then? I'd love to hear how (after hearing the whole statement) anyone can defend Bill and what he said today.
  • HolySmokesBaby · 1 year ago
I think the point of his statement has to do with the media discussing things that have nothing to do with the important issues facing this country (e.g. healthcare, Iraq, Iran, economy, immigration...).
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
HUH? I'll paraphrase what I heard (because I don't have a vid link but I'm sure one is coming soon).

Bill began by talking about how honorable McCain is (I won't argue that point) He talked about how he and Hillary are good friends. He then went on to say how both she and McCain love their country. He then said wouldn't it be nice if we had to candidates who love their country. CLEARLY, he was implying that if Obama is the nominee, there would only be one candidate who loves the USA. Watch the vid of his statement as soon as you can find a link to it.
  • HolySmokesBaby · 1 year ago
I'm going by the statement from the link John provided:

"It'd be a great thing if we had an election where you had two people who love this country, who were devoted to the interest of the country and people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues instead of all this other stuff which always seems to intrude on our politics."
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
The link provided to Atrios isn't a complete quote. I saw what he said leading up to that quote earlier on Hardball. If you can find a video for it or watch the repeat of the broadcast in 30 minutes, I'd advise you to do so. It shows up pretty early in the show and Tweety along with his panel agreed as to what he was implying.
  • HolySmokesBaby · 1 year ago
I'll tell you what, if/when I see something that puts the statement in a different context, I may change my opinion. As for Matthews, I don't care much what he or any of the other talking heads agree or don't agree to.
  • HolySmokesBaby · 1 year ago

Just heard Bill with my own ears say Hillary and McCain love their country, implying that Obama does not. I can't believe I stood up for this jerk, Bill, for all those years. He and Hillary are two big losers and I hope the Democratic Party gets some guts soon and tell them to STFU. They are doing more damage to the party than the Republicans ever did. Where are our party leaders; why don't they step in and tell Hillary it is all over? She and Bill won't leave without screaming and kicking and completely destroying the party.

I lost all respect for Hillary after the debate where she gushed all over Obama, saying she was "honored" to be seated with him. Then the next day she was back bad-mouthing and telling lies about Obama. She is a two-faced liar.
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
You nailed it right there! What Bill said today is as vile as when hillary implied that only she and McCain are ready to be CiC. I can no longer stand either one of them and realise now that they have deserved all along the attacks they were getting.
  • Rustyzipper · 1 year ago
    Just saw this....

According to federal campaign records, Stanley's Chairman and CEO, Philip Nolan, has made political contributions to prominent Republican candidates and also gave $1,000 to Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign on Feb. 20, 2008. John Brennan, the CEO of the Analysis Corp, gave $2,300 to Sen. Obama on Jan. 28, 2008, the records show.

Stanley is the firm that hired the snoopers that looked into Obamas files.

I think this post is irresponsible. Here is what Atrios quotes Clinton as saying (without a link to a primary source):

"It'd be a great thing if we had an election where you had two people who love this country, who were devoted to the interest of the country and people could actually ask themselves who is right on these issues instead of all this other stuff which always seems to intrude on our politics."

Now this is in two (or more) blogs without a link to a primary source. From this snippet, John is jumping to conclusions. You can't tell whether the two people are HRC and McCain or HRC and BO.

Please link to a source that provides the context for this remark.

For a candidate who has an "insurmountable" lead, his supporters are awful touchy...
  • DaveinMpls · 1 year ago
Finally saw a video. He is talking about a potential McCain and HRC GE, but that does not imply that BO does not love his country. You'd have to be extremely paranoid to think that.

What a disgusting comment from bill. Is there any doubt left in anybody's mind that the clinton's are out to destroy the democratic party nominee and help mccain win?
  • General Zod · 1 year ago
Why the Hillary hatred Johnny? I know you got that anti-woman thing, but it seems to go a bit farther with you. Could it be the old GOOPER in you slipping out?

Don't you have a cocktasil party to go to tonight? To hobnob with the other GOP hacks? You are a phony and a worthless shill for the GOP. Stop pretending, dude. Once a Republican, always a republican.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
We know GOP Troll Central is low on funds but it appears they have eliminated their training budget. Is this the best you can do? LOL
