I have been so pissed that the MSM keeps saying Hillary won BOTH Texas and Ohio when Obama has been ahead all along in TOTAL delegates from Texas. Lanny Davis once on MSNBC talked about the Texas and Ohio "landslides" and wasn't corrected. We will finally have our final group of delegates elected on March 29 at our county conventions. Sen. Obama has a good chance of picking up even more "pledged" delegates which Hillary now wants to do away with.

Obama claiming he won Texas will be a little like saying, "I know the people in Texas voted against me but screw them we win".
There will be no mention of a delegate win in Texas by Obama because it would show he isn't interested in the will of the people. This is one win that would best be left in the closet.

CoralGables,
Hillary only beat Obama by 100,000 in the primary. If you add the number of people voting for him in the caucus, there is no question that he won Texas with the will of the people.

1. On March 4, over 1 million people signed in at Precinct Conventions held in every precinct to elect 87,000 delegates to the County / Senate District Conventions.
2. On March 29, those 87,000 delegates will sign in at County / Senate District Conventions held in every County or Senate District to elect 7,296 delegates to the State Convention.
3. Then, on June 5-7, those 7,296 delegates will sign in at the State Convention in Austin to elect 67 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Denver on August 25-28.
It won't be officially over until June.

Ahh, well this makes sense. I had read that the Clinton campaign were using Robo calls throughout Texas asking the delegates to switch to Hillary, but I did not know at the time that the Primary/Caucus race was this close.

But I thought all the delegates, even those only quasilegitimate "caucus delegates" were "independent" and could just as easily leave Obama and come to their senses and owe fealty to the Queen Herself. She needs to tell Bill to calm down...

Caucuses are undemocratic and we shouldn't use them at all. Would it be OK to have the General Election by caucus. We would not consider any country that uses a caucus as democratic. No privacy of voting, no people who have to work or who have children can go, old people can't go. They tend to have a lot less votes than elections with local places to vote in privacy with voting booths. I don't consider any caucus a valid expression of democratic intent in any community. We have to maintain our values as Americans.
Polly_Tics
Maxatar212,
IF you feel Caucuses are undemocratic (and I can understand why many feel that way), then AFTER the election you can go about campaigning the many states in America with your points. It is the states themselves who decide which version of the election process works best for them, so THAT is the time to make your points, not DURING an election.

March 27, 2008 Court Orders Release of Ex-Governor From Prison By ADAM NOSSITER
MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The former governor of Alabama, Don Siegelman, was ordered Thursday to be released from prison on bond by a federal appeals court, pending his broader appeal in a bribery conviction last June.
Mr. Siegelman, a Democrat, had been taken to prison immediately following his sentencing last year, an unusual move by federal authorities in a white-collar case. His lawyers said Thursday that he never should have been imprisoned while he appealed his conviction.
Thursday’s ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Atlanta said Mr. Siegelman’s larger appeal had raised “substantial questions,” and so the former governor should be released from the federal prison where he has already served nine months of a seven-year sentence. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/27/us/27cnd-alab...

Coral Gables, keep your Florida nonsense to yourself. Your state has no business criticizing any other state when it comes to counting votes!
There are 67 at-large delegates at stake in Texas. Initial estimates from the precinct conventions (the caucuses) were that Obama won 37 and Clinton 30. These votes from the caucuses will be verified and made official at the county conventions on March 29th. Hillary won the primary vote by 3 percentage points but even with a slight edge there, she will lose Texas overall when those delegates are combined with the delegates determined by the various caucuses.
Washington state also has BOTH a caucus and a primary but the Democratic Party there determines the pledged delegates based upon the caucus outcome, only. The Republican Party in Washington gives equal weight to both processes.
Hillarybot Maxstar212. If Hillary had been better organized and won a few caucuses I would bet you would not have your attitude about the caucus process. Actually, the OLDEST DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTION in our nation was the old "Town Hall meetings" in our colonies, the first such caucuses.

Polly,
There is no turnabout. This has been known since the night of the election. It's also why you don't hear Obama crowing about it. Claiming a win when you lose the vote is a sure fire way to lose votes down the road..
Polly_Tics

Coral Gables,
Now, now there....
Listen, we all knew it was a close vote in Texas, but "how" close was what was NOT known "at the time". Hillary won the primary by a small number and than when you add IN the Caucus results, well THAT is what DETERMINES the winner. Perhaps you are not familiar with the way the votes are tallied...it is all about votes you know.
OK, that was very sarcastic, but I do so love doing that with you. I do so enjoy your company Coral Gables...

Polly. Even though I was polled several times before the March 4 primary, I haven't received any "robo-calls". I have heard that these are coming from the Clinton campaign to those who will be attending the county conventions this coming Saturday. Here is how the final results will be verified:
The Texas caucus delegates from all the individual districts were selected the same night that the primary election took place. This Saturday we hold the county conventions where all the district delegates in each county will vote to elect the delegates that will represent that county's total at the state convention. Later at the state convention they will elect the party delegates to go to the national convention. Depending on number of delegates that show up for each candidate to cast their votes is what determines the final caucus vote totals for each candidate.
I was voted one of the delegates from my district in Tarrant County and will be at the county convention bright and early Saturday morning to cast my vote for Obama.

Texans have known for some time that Obama WON here. However, since the final delegate split isn't made OFFICIAL until the county and state senate conventions this Saturday, there is a reason why Obama is not proclaiming victory. Many of the caucus tallies were called into newspapers, etc. and not verified.
Somehow, by hook or crook, things might change. Since the Clintons are involved, it could be by "crook!"

The tricky part about the caucus is that, based on the initial votes, a certain number of delegates for each candidate were selected to cast votes at the county conventions (this is where Obama comes out with more putting him slightly ahead in the overall delegate count including the delegates from the primary)
However, even though delegates for each candidate were declared at the district (precinct) caucuses, those delegates can still change their votes at the county convention this weekend and the same for the county delegates that will be going to the state convention.
Also, we were allowed to elect "alternates" in case people were unable to show up. If people don't attend when they said they would then the alternates can be seated to vote no matter who they originally pledged their vote for in the caucus. So I'm sure both the Obama and Clinton campaigns are hoping that this "open" option will work in their favor and push the final delegate count for Texas to their side.
Polly_Tics
Karma,
There have been reports of massive Robo Calling in Texas asking the Delegates to change their allegiances to Clinton. It all made sense when I heard about just how close the delegate count will be in that state...so now the Clinton's will try as they might, to change the tallies.
You know, I used to be solidly a big fan of Bill Clinton, and now I feel silly for my admiration. Never again!

jr. you are so right. I just figured out Bill and Hill. While in office they did what was good for THEM. They had us all fooled then, they never did care about this country or the people, they were self-serving! This DELIBERATE LIE that Hill told was an example of her character; to see her lie on tv with that story, told so sincerely tells us all that we could not trust her in the White House to tell the truth. I don't think a person should vote for her, if she should be the nominee just to support the party. I think we should not vote at all and let the election see what happens when people like her get elected that have proven to be dishonest. A person should only vote for a candidate that has proven to be a decent person, and this lie is unlike most lies, because we saw her tell the story, then saw the truth!! WE should never vote for a candidate that is capable of doing that, it is the principle of it. Yes, I know that might get McCain elected, but still, it is wrong to cast a vote for a person of that low calibur!
Sage24

If this happens, it will be a big boost for Sen. Obama. It will be interesting to see if those republicans show up for Hillary again. Big Bill must be even more desperate now. His third term depends on this.
Sometimes you think the Hillary supporters live in the twilight zone.
Obama has won more states Obama has won more delegates Obama is leading in the popular vote Polls show more people think he can unite the country Polls show he does better against McCain Polls show his positive ratings are much higher than his negatives (unlike Pinnochios) Polls show Pinnochios attacks have made her lose 8 points. Obama is getting more Independent votes, and has even won the white votes in states like Iowa.
Hillary supporters should get realistic, and stop being in denial. They have to accept the fact that she has the highest negatives, and will get the Tonya Harding treatment by the Republicans.
Chances of Obama winning in November are higher than Pinnochios.

HOLLY COW!! Could we be so fortunate?? This win in Texas would be some icing on the cake for Obama supporters!! Did any of you see on tv this morning on MSNBC, the pastor from the church that Bill and Hill attended while in the white house?? HE WAS STICKING UP FOR THE REV.WRIGHT!! He said that this was not unusual for a pastor to be giving a very heated sermon, and that it was ok for Barack to still stay in that church, and many more good things, but no one else had him on tv. They are starting in again on Barack and not mentioning the BIG HILLARY LIE! anymore!! That dammed media!! They are in control, instead of the people, it seems that this election and gov. is by the media for the media and of the media, they are determined to destroy Barack, and I hate that alleged homo Anderson Cooper. He never grilled Hillary the way he did Barack, and he was harping on the Rev. thing AGAIN!! WE should all e-mail CNN, I have several times!! sbhdawn,
here's a good read.
Obama (40%WM, 45%WF) is doing slightly better with white voters than is Clinton (35%WM, 48%WF).
In 1992, Bill Clinton won 39% of white voters. In 1996, he won 43%. In 2000, Gore won 42%. In 2004, Kerry won 41%. So 43% is a pretty good starting point, especially with 7% undecided. (Obama currently trails McCain by 7%, while Gore lost by 12% and Kerry lost by 17%.)
Well...duh. This comment from Obama in his interview tomorrow on The View is a no-brainer. Good for Pastor Wright too. He's the most famous Christian leader outside the Pope. I see a few book, movie and record deals on offer for him. Any publicity is good publicity. ;-)
Senator Obama: "Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws, then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying at the church," Obama said Thursday during a taping of the ABC talk show, "The View." The interview will be broadcast Friday. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080328/ap_on_el_pr...

GrantinHouston, will you e-mail them with your opinion?? I have several times, maybe it doesn't help, but it might. We all need to do it!! I shut off the tv, and I am not going to watch them again. Just think what if we all did that, and they knew that thoussands weren't watching them anymore? They should have asked HATEFUL HILL, why she made up that story. Also ask her this: "Why did you take your daughter there if it was so dangerous?" What did you think about her safety when they told y ou to duck and run from bullets?" Then they need to see if there was ever a time that she really did run from bullets at any landing, because if she didn't then she couldn't use the excuse that she got 2 different events mixed up. They don't want the facts out there, and it probably boils down to the fact that they just don't want a black man for president!!! What a shame!!

McCain is equally, if not more, flexible and pandering in his hypocritical approach to politics as Clinton is. Are you pro-Iraq fiasco and the wasted lives and unparalled fininacial debt it's created and will continue to create? Do want a man who has admitted he knows "nothing" about economics to be president with the same economic advisors that Bush has used? Do you want a man who doesn't know the difference between al-Qaeda, insurgents, Iran and Syria as a commander-in-chief? Are you so disloyal to your party that you'd forsake your political principles because you don't "like" one of the candidates? Anyone who stays home or votes for McCain has no integrity. The Ameicans who faught and died to build our great country stood up and faced every challenge without backing down. They lived their beliefs. They didn't stay home and watch from the sidelines while others made the hard choices for them. Perhaps you need to stop reacting to the rhetoric and start studying the candidate's records and policy statements. And frankly, if you're the kind of person who would sit out this election, what good are you to anyone anyway?

Now that I can't believe what Hillary Clinton has to say, I can not count on her to be sincere and deliver on her promises. She spoke with such sincerety while telling that recent lie, that I now know she is very capable of telling sincere lies in the presidency, if she should get it. That makes me wonder if she is any better than McCain, because if she has lied about her plans, maybe she won't be any better than him in the end. We should not vote for a candidate that has presented herself in all these untrustworthy negative ways, and I could not vote for her now, because as I said before, I don't know for sure if she is better than McCain. This blackmail tactic of her to make the super-delegates to vote for her is a disgrace, and strikes at our freedom of democracy. What have we fought wars for?? For Hillary to buy the election?? If she is not sincere, than there is no telling what she might do, when she gets the power that she wants, and i think she is proving that she is just after the power of the office, and does not have the welfare of the country or it's citizens as her upmost concern. She is willing to do anything just to get her way, regardless of what it is, and that is not the type of person I want to be the leader of this country .. No, we should not vote for a person of this calibur, and should just let the chips fall where they may, because if she is telling lies now, maybe she won't be better than McCAin (which I know would not be good for America), but from her actions she has proven that she would not be a good president. Anyone willing to threaten people to get votes, reminds me of a "dictatorship" in the making!!

Yes, Petey. The Houston Chronicle analyzed the vote in Harris County (Houston and some suburbs) and found that Obama got 50% of the white vote, 85% of the black vote while Hillary got 84% of the Hispanic vote. However, the Clintons spoke almost exclucsively before Hispanic audiences. For once, we didn't see the Clintons clapping and singing in black churches like they used to do back in the 90's when they were pandering for the black vote.
However in Ohio, only 38% of whites went for Obama. So the stereotype of racist Texans isn't true as are many stereotypes of our state. But also Obama did well in Wyoming, Iowa, and many other states where whites are a large majority.

There is no turnabout. This has been known since the night of the election. It's also why you don't hear Obama crowing about it. Claiming a win when you lose the vote is a sure fire way to lose votes down the road..

I was voted one of the delegates from my district in Tarrant County and will be at the county convention bright and early Saturday morning to cast my vote for Obama.
Somehow, by hook or crook, things might change. Since the Clintons are involved, it could be by "crook!"
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/sen.-bill-n...
There was always something off about the Clintons for me. Guess I'm a little slower than some...
Horrors!!!!
Not Eye-talians!!!
Surely now, O'Bama's pastor won't be dissing the Sons of the Olde Sod or the wee leprechauns???
The media's always after O'Bama's lucky charms...
LOLOL!

From Huffpo:
A 22 year old got a $300 million dollar contract to supply Afghanistani police with ammunitions and is supplying them with 40 year old ammo in decomposing packaging. My God will we ever see some kind of oversight and accountability?
I do know that they changed our convention locations just last week (because of the large number of people predicted to show up they had to find larger venues)...so I know they have been calling people to let them know the new locations.

Well I won't say anything, but the sparkle coming off of your logo might tip some folks off.
Actually it works beautifully with your complexion.
; )
No not disenfranchhising, just following the rules as HILLARY SIGNED AND AGREED TO DO, DUH?? Too bad, for her. You can't change the rules before the game after ALL players agree on them, then change them again in the middle of the game just to get your team to win, DUH!! Would you want to do this for Barack?? NOUGH SAID!!
Maybe Al Gore should be given a quick phone call...............
How could the Democrats fuck this up so bad????
Once again you are right on the mark!! Couldn't agree more!
We are in deep shit with this guy!
Sometimes you think the Hillary supporters live in the twilight zone.
Obama has won more states
Obama has won more delegates
Obama is leading in the popular vote
Polls show more people think he can unite the country
Polls show he does better against McCain
Polls show his positive ratings are much higher than his negatives
(unlike Pinnochios)
Polls show Pinnochios attacks have made her lose 8 points.
Obama is getting more Independent votes, and has even won the white
votes in states like Iowa.
Hillary supporters should get realistic, and stop being in denial.
They have to accept the fact that she has the highest negatives, and
will get the Tonya Harding treatment by the Republicans.
Chances of Obama winning in November are higher than Pinnochios.
I shut off the tv tonight, I am not going to watch those cut-throats again!
here's a good read.
(In 2000, Al Gore won 42% of the white vote....and won!)

Senator Obama: "Had the reverend not retired, and had he not acknowledged that what he had said had deeply offended people and were inappropriate and mischaracterized what I believe is the greatness of this country, for all its flaws, then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying at the church," Obama said Thursday during a taping of the ABC talk show, "The View." The interview will be broadcast Friday.

will you e-mail them with your opinion??
I will be honest here about McCain, I can not vote for Hill, will stay home. If McCain gets the presidency, I could watch the inaugaration, but it HATEFUL HILL gets it, I will not watch it at all.
her to be sincere and deliver on her promises. She spoke with such sincerety
while telling that recent lie, that I now know she is very capable of
telling sincere lies in the presidency, if she should get it. That makes me
wonder if she is any better than McCain, because if she has lied about her
plans, maybe she won't be any better than him in the end. We should not
vote for a candidate that has presented herself in all these untrustworthy
negative ways, and I could not vote for her now, because as I said before, I
don't know for sure if she is better than McCain. This blackmail tactic of
her to make the super-delegates to vote for her is a disgrace, and strikes
at our freedom of democracy. What have we fought wars for?? For Hillary to
buy the election??
If she is not sincere, than there is no telling what she might do, when she
gets the power that she wants, and i think she is proving that she is just
after the power of the office, and does not have the welfare of the country
or it's citizens as her upmost concern.
She is willing to do anything just to get her way, regardless of what it
is, and that is not the type of person I want to be the leader of this
country .. No, we should not vote for a person of this calibur, and should
just let the chips fall where they may, because if she is telling lies now,
maybe she won't be better than McCAin (which I know would not be good for
America), but from her actions she has proven that she would not be a good
president. Anyone willing to threaten people to get votes, reminds me of a
"dictatorship" in the making!!
However in Ohio, only 38% of whites went for Obama. So the stereotype of racist Texans isn't true as are many stereotypes of our state. But also Obama did well in Wyoming, Iowa, and many other states where whites are a large majority.
Wy. went for Barack, and I was honored to be a Precinct Captain here for the Wy. Caucus.
