    yeah, that was pretty tacky

Major League Asshole....in the words of Bush.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    Petty, petty, petty.

Does Bill even care about his legacy?

    geez!
  • martha · 1 year ago
I talked myself hoarse defending this guy when he had his "problems". Why can't he return the favor to all the people that believed in him and now believe in Obama because we love our country?
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Cheney and Bush won't be at McCains'. right?
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
wow, that link is scary. I hope that those people commenting are the far, far end of the bell curve and miniscule in number...
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
I think PerezHIlton has a lot of young people (maybe even non-voting age).. People who love "Dancing with the Stars" and "American Idol". Their knowledge of the world and politics is off from reality they forget how they vote against their own interests.

    Yup, it's scary.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    what a baby.
but really, it's not going to matter.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Couldn't they have found someone that looks alittle bit more like Katherine Harris than the woman accepting the votes now?
  • TheOriginalLiz · 1 year ago
Can't believe I ever confused that man for someone who had class.
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
maybe she will finally leave the creep
  • brb915 · 1 year ago
Right after she gives him an Arkansas beat down
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
who is the botox queen reading the roll call?
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Has this been reported by a SERIOUS, RELIABLE source? Perez Hilton is hardly a serious or reliable source. How many times has he reported on the death of Fidel Castro?
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Why should any of us be surprised by Bill's actions thus far? He hasn't exhibited much class as yet, so why expect miracles now? It's unfortunate that an ex President (of whom I supported heavily) has shown himself to be such a classLESS individual.

    Oh well...
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
This is what I expect of the man who got blow jobs from Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office. I defended Clinton from the Republican impeachment because no class is not a legal justification for impeachment, but was otherwise revolted how he was more of a Republican, fiscally conservative, morally and socially Republican than a progressive, liberal Democrat.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
    Oh please, stop this already.

He also did not attend Al Gore or John Kerry's acceptance speeches.

Apart from Bush 41 for his son, present or ex-presidents, irrespective of whether they have been at the conventions, have been there.

Making a big deal about this helps one person - John McCain.

    Why do this?
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
phrase should be "few or noe of presidents" have attended.

Reagan wasn;t at either of Bush's. Bush didn't attend Dole's.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
OH please, this time the circumstances are MUCH different. Hillary has called for unity so to suggest that her own husband shouldn't attend is simply ludicrous! The times suggest that for TRUE unity, that both of the Clinton's attend.

This nomination has been historic on so many levels. Please don't try to misconstrue what the actual facts on the ground may be this time around.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
    My point is -
let's accept the precedent as the reason.
If WE make a big deal out of it, the media and the GOP will make an even bigger deal about it.
    Again I ask - why?
Someone please explain how this helps get Barack Obama elected.

Let's move on from the Clintons - OK? We are doing McCain's work for him.

What is so hard to uinderstand about this obvious point?
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
None of this "helps" get Barack elected, but I don't see a problem with complaining about BILL's refusal to join the party (so to speak). I have had it with such idiotic and childish behavior, whether it is our fellow Dem's OR Bill's, I am fed up with it all.

I ask you that if we can complain about our fellow Democrat's behavior when making noise at this time, why can't we do the same about Bill? His behavior has been (and it seems to be continuing to be) positively spank-able. Bill has raised childish pouting to a new level!

You can check with my previous posts and see that I give no room for such behavior whether it is by US or by Bill, however Bill's continuance in this is unacceptable.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
Sorry, of course you have the right to speak your opinion.

But again, please, this HURTS Obama if it looks like a snub.

Accept the precedent, let's not throw fire on the gasoline, and move on.

If you want to explain why continuing this discussion is a good thing, I'd love to hear it.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I've already stated here and elsewhere where I stand on this. I am sorry you aren't willing to see the opposing sides in this issue, but again, if you look at my previous posts (with Clintonhater) just this morning, you may see my point.

    Then again, maybe not.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
    I understand (see) your position.

I am asking you to repress it because it does nothing to help Obama win and could in a small way contribute to his loss.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I am waiting until I hear Bill's speech this evening, but just as I didn't have high hopes last night, I waited. However, last night I was surprised by her speech, let us hope that tonight he is gracious and endorses Obama fully.

However, that will still NOT excuse him from NOT attending Barack's acceptance speech. I'm sure you must agree that behavior is childish, no?
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
Even it is, and I again cite the precedent, what again is the point of pushing this?

Really? I just don't get it.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
The point is that Bill Clinton has continued to act like a spoiled little bratty boy and that is NOT becoming of a President. He has already LOST my respect (after years of positively loving this guy) and I am "hoping" that he will become the person I always hoped him to be.

If he does not, the onus is on him, not us. AND in this election, it is Hillary that we have issues with, not Bill however that does NOT excuse his behavior.

But again, let us hope that he proves us all wrong. If you do not agree, it is certainly your right, but Bill's actions are different and separate from Hillary's on this issue. If her husband doesn't behave, I see nothing wrong with holding him accountable. I don't see how that affects Obama's win.

Look, we must agree to disagree on this one. It will not have been a first, so let us part as friends and see what happens this evening, OK?
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
In snubbing Obama, Bill is also sabotaging his wife who still hopes to one day be the Democratic nominee and then president. By being so bitter and spiteful, he is demonstrating how sound his marriage is and how well he stands with his wife.
  • Rainlion · 1 year ago
    excellent point(s)
  • HelenaMontana · 1 year ago
Loved - past tense - is the operative word. What a petulant, childish jackass he's become.
  • brb915 · 1 year ago
    Give that man a cigar
  • Rainlion · 1 year ago
Hmmmm... okay, I'll have to hear his speech tonight and then see. This spin could be just that - GOP driven spin to induce division. What if Bill's going to be out workin' the weeds that night in some far flung swing state... encouraging folks to get w/ the program and vote Obama?

It's too early to tell, but I'll give him one last "benefit of the doubt" even though I can't see a reason why.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I'm with you here. I want to hear what Bill says tonight before I make a final decision, just as I waited (but with not much hope) for Hillary's speech last night. I was pleasantly surprised by Hillary, let us hope that Bill won't make more of a muck of it all than he already has!
  • Rainlion · 1 year ago
So far, so good - I'd forgotten how good a speech giver he is... very nice. This is what we're talking about. He opened w/ a joke about warming up the crowd for Biden. With the opening Biden's been given... he needs to rock like all get out.

    Obama/Biden all the way
    McCain no way!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
HOPEFULLY, his speech tonight will make this moot.
  • Rainlion · 1 year ago
and that it did... for me
  • Rainlion · 1 year ago
John, that's a pretty harsh - and quick read of things... what about precedent, what about the possibility i raise below? Or have you heard, seen something at the convention that leads credence to the continuing "disunity", "lack of harmony" meme the pundits are pushing?
  • JennieB · 1 year ago
At least Hillary has some class. Bill is a spoiled sport, sore loser. This is not Al Gore's or John Kerry's acceptance speech. This is HISTORIC. For the first time in the history of our country OUR PARTY (the party Bill Clinton used to be the leader of) is nominated an African American man to be President of the United States. It is completely classless and unacceptable of him to be such a fucking sore loser that he can't bother to attend this first-of-it's-kind historic event on the anniverary of MLK's "Dream" speech.

This is the final nail is that Bill Clinton's coffin for me.
  • WDemDem · 1 year ago
Now you're turning this into a racist thing. Get over it. If it had been any other candidate that beat HRC by the same margin and won the nomination, would you be saying the same thing? No, because that nominee wouldn't have been black and therefore we would be back to precedent. And you wouldn't give a shit where Bill was during that acceptance speech. These will be the type of comments that will perpetuate in the small minds of so many people that Barack is black.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
Considering the source this may be just B.S., but it speaks volumes that many who once respected this guy can now accept the possibility that he could be so destructive and petty. I never loved the guy, but I thought he was one of the sharpest politicians in my lifetime but his current actions reveal that he is just blessed with an abnormal am out of chutzpah.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    I never liked Bill.

But I'll withhold judgment until his speech tonight.

I think he'll deliver, for his own sake if not for anything else.

Frankly, I don't think he wants to go down in history as the ex-president who damned one of his possible successors with faint praise.
  • Clancy · 1 year ago
Exactly. Really? Perez Hilton is a good source now? I don't even trust CNN when they report about how things are "going to happen" when it comes to the Clintons or Obama.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
There's no one like Perez Hilton for snark on the hoof: "Don't be a bitter Betty, Bill." I love it! Bitter Betty's batter tastes better with butter, Bill. So go butter up the party real good. Play nice!
  • hardeknox · 1 year ago
His reputation? How about Hound Dog?
  • Yukio · 1 year ago
How about we let the man show up or not before we start ripping him a new one?

This sounds more like convention innuendo than anything else.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
John, stop. Please. Just stop. This constant Clinton bashing is just embarrasing. I thought you were better than that. Let it go and get over it. Adjust. MOVE ON.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Are you serious? Believe it or not the rest of the nation cares about what Bill does, which makes it relevant to post and news worthy. Face it the Clintons are huge douche bags.

  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
uh, yes I'm serious. Your point has been made repeatedly. In fact, it boarders on the same lunatic fringe that insists in continuing to want to nominate Hillary with no real future for their movement. I believe referred to as Hilbots. Your movement can earn the name HilHaterBots because you won't give up your bs either. get over it. it's over.
  • JamesR · 1 year ago
One does not have to be a "hater" to point out that the symbolism and reality of the last Democratic ex-president to be seen wanting to attend the new lion's speech is a valuable thing ONLY a President can give. He may be an 'ex-president' but the mantle of the Presidency never leaves, and it has to be borne well. Like it or lump it, Bill Clinton still has the duties of President, especially now, in this context, to attend to. He may not want to but that's too damn bad.

It seems Bill Clinton has a problem reconciling his desire for freedom from the constraints of duty, and his desire to do the duties he doesn't like... May not be the case, but it seems like it is. He should master the moment and explain why he is not attending and make sure folk hear it. It would be OK, and especially OK if he says it is because he does not want to upstage or distract attention from Obama. Or he could have a health problem he does not want to talk about, so then he should just say the former. If he is not up to being the President as a force for Good in this way, for some reason, then OK. But the FACT is he is in a unique place to ADD to momentum and Victory and he is not taking it.

Either way I am giving him the benefit of the doubt, but cannot help but be reminded of the Gay Rights march held on the most beautiful of Sundays on the Mall in DC, Clinton could have been there. It was an awesome experience. He, somehow, for some reason, chose not to be at the largest (to that date) civil rights march in America. And I thought - Whoa, that's too bad. He really missed something.

That's what I am thinking now about tomorrow.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
so, you choose to ignore that "gay" was removed from the Democratic platform under Obama leadership. where did that issue go?

    Talk about "missing something"!

Yet, I'm still campaigning for Obama.

    Think about that.
  • 1stRepublic14thStar · 1 year ago
Jesus Christ, can any Clinton every say or do anything that meets with your approval? If he doesn't stay and listen to Obama's speech he's disrespectful. I have no doubt that if he DID stay, you'd cite that as proof that he's secretly trying to upstage the nominee. The only certain thing is that if it's Clinton, it's wrong.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Who cares whether Bill stays and listens are not. He did what he had to do tonight! He got everyone excited and told them Obama is READY TO GO ON DAY ONE. That had to be hard for him, but he did it. He played his part. He earned my respect back tonight.
  • tsuki · 1 year ago
I respect Big Dog's decision. He, more than anyone, knows the malevolence of the jackals of corporate journalism.

Can you imagine if he was there. The JCJ of would use his presence to constantly cut away from Obama's speech to "gage" his reaction, setting up a false debate and detracting from Obama's message. You would begin to think that you were watching a tennis match.

Take off your Clinton hating glasses and try to develop some balance.

It is Obama's night, and Big Dog knows that.
  • GrMtGirl · 1 year ago
Unbelievable . . . . someone who actually understands what is really going on instead of categorizing everything in the "Inquirer mode".

It is Obama's night . . . Clinton had his/Obama deserves the same!

I heard this was only a rumor. Perezhilton.com? As a source? Come on.
