AMERICAblog: Blacks think Hillary trying to destroy Obama in 2008 so she can run in 2012

  • dad · 1 year ago
    I'm not black.

    I believe it fact.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
I hope that's not the case. African-American support has been crucial to the Democratic party along with labor and the alternative cultural worlds, especially the gay community. Speaking of the gay community, although the Rainbow Democrats are around, they speak and act much like Hillary. The ones I know do, maybe it's not like that in nicer parts of the country. I don't know.
Regardless, the gay community drift away from the Democrats is happening and the 1992 Clinton backstabbing has much to do with it. HIllary speaks the old line, but Barack Obama actually talks about the importance of gay rights without getting trapped in the "special" rights chatter. I hope Hillary is not driving away the black community but I want to put it on record that she's not exactly supportive of the gay community either.
Since the Democratic Party has been a diversity party all along, Reagan Democrats and blue-collar Catholics (are any Catholics left who vote liberal?) and the wondrous range of Trotskyites and Marxists and Pinko-Commie-Fag-Professors (including myself) and Shavian Socialists and the amazing line up of liberals in limousines are all part of the mix. Where are they now?

I tend to agree with them.

Hillary can't for a minute think of what her miserable life would be like without that prize in front of her.

She needs to dream about the White House in order to live.

She's 10 years younger than McCrazy.

She'll try again if she doesn't make it this time.

She'll have to do it without starting out with a base of SuperD support and a ton of donors, so she'll probably stumble and fall very early, much like Lieberman in 2004.

    But she'll try.

This is the same as I have been screaming about for a long time--the racist tactics of the Clintons. As a southerner, I know all the tricks whitey uses to strike fear into people like me, and to cast their heavily veiled aspersions on people who are "different" (including LGBTs as well).

And this is one white voter who will join those deserting the Democratic Party, whose only interest seems to be propping up their rich corporate supporters, if this happens.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
You can add the MSM to that too.
When the MSM keeps playing those 5 seconds of Rev Wright...It's making regular Americans thinking all black churches are like that.

Isn't MSM run by older white men?

Frankly, I see the super-delegates as the ones who are allowing the destruction of the Democratic Party's unity when they have the power to end it. They see the same numbers we all see. They know that the only thing keeping the Clinton's going is the hope that they, the super-delegates, will overrule the Democratic electorate and delegate voters and support them. So why are the super-delegates "allowing" something so pointlessly destructive and devisive to continue when they can end it now and begin untiing the party in order to defeat John McCain. The Clintons are being true to their personal nature, but why aren't the super-delegates being true to their Democratic Party?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
The "Clintons" have the support of 50% of the party. I'm not sure you're fully appreciating the problem here. The Obamas seem to have a better grip on reality. Thankfully.

If the Super Delegates permit Clinton to steal the nomination, discarding the clearly expresssed will and real votes of the voters in the various states (the people that should matter) in grueling primary after primary, then the Democratic party risks the House the White House black voters and all voters, for this type of limousine liberal attitude is disgusting and will be the bane of the dems for a ver very long time. In future elections dems will lack any moral authority on matter democracy. The repubs will laugh at dems utterly destroy the dems relying on just this fiasco. Black voters leaving the dems will be followed by hoards of others if this occurs.
  • ADLEED · 1 year ago
The basic problem is a double standard or a moving goalpost as some might say. Elements of the MSM current madness with anything Obama suggesting he can't close the deal is all the current rage, but this rage casually overlooks the fact that Clinton has been beat badly and never has lead on anything except the expectation of inevitability. It would be fair to say that Clyburn may have a good position to observe this madness , and black folks have had more than their share of this point of view heaped upon them but as others have noted this ain't about black folks it is about Team Clinton desire for power.

Obama Winning More Edwards Supporters Than Clinton

FEC records show that Obama has raised almost $1 million from previous Edwards donors, compared to only $427,000 for Clinton. Another key statistic: Nine of Edwards' former Congressional backers have now endorsed Obama -- compared to zero for Clinton.

Please, please, please make the Clintons go away. In 40 years of following American politics, I have never seen a pair of politicians so completely and thoroughly destroy their own reputations. They're actually living down to the stereotypes. What the hell do they think they're going to be doing when the crushing mathematic reality finally pushes Hillary from the race? They are going to be despised by Democrats, in general, and by black Democrats in particular.

Ex-President Clinton, please keep your gaping piehole shut. Sen. Clinton, just get your ass out of the race. New York State Democrats, please find a true progressive/liberal candidate to challenge her in the next term.

    Clinton debt larger than reported

Hillary Clinton's campaign debt at the end of March was bigger than it appeared because she didn't list the $5 million she loaned herself, a campaign finance watchdog group reported

"The Clinton campaign itemizes its debts to vendors, totaling $10.3 million by the end of last month, but since January, when Clinton infused her campaign with $5 million, the campaign hasn't been adding in that loan when reporting its overall debt to the Federal Election Commission," the Center for Responsive Politics said.

the African-American community is right, of course...they have seen this behavior b4 on local levels. the Clinton Tag Team should criticize Obama on policy all they want, but to play the race-arousal game with all the bigotry implied in that is beyond the pale. when in recent history has a dem candidate made such a personal prejudice-oriented attack on another dem? GOP folk do this all the time, but they are GOP.... which leaves the question: which is Hillary?
maybe she needs to run on McCain's ticket?

I always thought that when people called Clinton the first black president that it was an insult to black people because it was almost like a slave master relationship. Bill Clinton said that he couldn't be a racist because his office was in Harlem and Harlem voted for Hillary.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
Jimmy Carter is the only president who found peace between Arabs and Israelis. But now, since he's trying to solve the current Mid East crisis, the Israeli UN Ambassador called him a "bigot". I guess this is who psycho Hillary was channelling when she made her "obliterate" comment.

He said it was "a shame" to see Carter, who had done "good things" as a former president, "turn into what I believe to be a bigot."

Some are asking why the super delegates have not stepped forward. Why haven't Gore, Edwards, Reid, Pelosi and don't forget Dean. I heard that Elizabeth Edwards was leaning to Hillary. After all I thought of the Edwards this would be the final blow for me. Why are the Democratic Party heads letting this travesty continue? If it is true that there is no possibility that Hillary can win then close this now! Stop with the dirty politics. Instead Dean says it will be over soon. He has been saying this for some time now. Let's get on with it. The Democratic Party is being ripped to shreds by this fighting. We all know even if Obama is declared the Democratic nominee, Hillary will not quit. She and Bill are doing whatever they can to destroy Obama. That is truth, they want to destroy him.

Well, well, well...in addition to MSNBC pundits laughing (!) about the "fact" that Rev. Wright is hurting Obama in his quest to clear up the whole issue of their relationship on Moyers' show and other remarks he's made, the judge in the Sean Bell trial found the cops not guilty.

What a tragedy, and a trashing the black community is taking today. Are the powers that be trying to provoke civil unrest just to show that blacks can't be trusted and are nothing but troublemakers? I'm feeling less and less proud of this country.

There was an amazing caller to Randi Rhodes's show yesterday. An African-American called from Orange County and was telling her why him and many of his friends would stay home if Clinton was given the nomination over Obama via the superdelegates. Randi tried arguing with him but his emotion was stunning. Basically he said that black people already know that the Republicans aren't their friends, but they THOUGHT the Clintons were. Its always worse when you get the knife in the back from a friend. Also, he was pointing to something that I think is being discussed on the inside...will the Democrats take the black vote for granted once again?

I'm a 24 year old white male, and I'm fairly convinced that Hillary's trying to destroy Obama in 2008 so she can run in 2012, as well.

If the Clintons somehow manage to steal this from Obama, I know a lot of people -- of every background -- who won't be aligning with the Democratic party for quite some time, either.

I should also mention that this is coming from a "yellow dog Democrat" who has never voted for anyone but a Democrat since he registered to vote on his 18th birthday.

  • ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith) · 1 year ago
Those who have been here for a while know I predicted this would happen back in January. The reality is that Obama was right when he said he didn't know if some of his supporters would support Clinton, it wasn't a threat, it was a very real pulse-check on what is happening in the black community.

People can say that Clinton can make it up with the support of blue-collar workers and older women, and they may be right for this election, but if she steals the nomination this will not be forgotten in the black community and will hurt the Democratic party for decades. As it's been pointed out, in the last 50 years or so, black people have been they single most reliable supporters of Democrats at all levels. It's a big problem when the party is about to lose 10% or so of the population voting reliably Democrat.

As a sidenote, I have a lot of friends in Philly who are now starting to say that Mayor Nutters support for Clinton may cause him problems in his re-election efforts. As some may know, the Philly area was the one area where Obama actually won. It will be interesting to see what happens when Nutters job is up for re-election.

"Sleazy Limbaugh Calls for Denver Riots"

Well Nigel - I'm no lawyer but that sounds like a terroristic treat.

Heres what Chapter 27 in Pennsylvania law says ( I presume Colorado is similar).

    2706. Terroristic threats.
    (a) Offense defined. A person commits the crime of terroristic threats if the person communicates, either directly or indirectly, a threat to:

    commit any crime of violence with intent to terrorize another;
cause evacuation of a building, place of assembly, or facility of public transportation; or
otherwise cause serious public inconvenience, or cause terror or serious public inconvenience with reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience.

    Hey Firebrand,

Rush won't get charged. He has an oxycontin defence and he's working for Hillary and the GOP.

On October 3, 2003 the National Enquirer reported that Limbaugh was being investigated for illegally obtaining the prescription drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone. Other news outlets quickly confirmed the investigation.[86] He admitted to listeners on his radio show on October 10 that he was addicted to prescription painkillers and stated that he would enter inpatient treatment for 30 days, immediately after the broadcast.[87] Limbaugh has stated his addiction to painkillers resulted from several years of severe back pain heightened by a botched surgery intended to correct those problems.
    ...
    Operation Chaos
Limbaugh has stated that there is nothing wrong with Republicans voting in the Democrat campaign, as Democrats voted for McCain in Vermont, New Hampshire, Florida, and other states.

Crap like this is why Michael Moore called Clinton the best Republican president we ever had. Once again he does what the Republicans can only dream of doing to people.

People need to take this VERY seriously. Most of the black community won't vote Republican, but they might decide to vote for Cynthia McKinney on the Green Party ticket if they think Obama got screwed, and that's exactly what this looks like. The Democratic leadership should shut Clinton down ASAP or we'll be looking at a President McCain... I feel nauseous...
  • djhwood · 1 year ago
Pelosi, Reid, Dean, et.al, need to orchestrate these Supers now. Why not get enough Supers together now that make it close so that it is the voters of NC or Ind that put Obama over the top, not necessarily after the primaries?

By the way, one thing to note: I am in NY and General Election polling right now has Obama with a bigger lead on McCain here than Hillary...............IN HER OWN STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • sconset · 1 year ago
I am at the point where I actually have come to loathe the Clintons. If she can't have the nomination than nobody else can. I am so sick of their sense of entitlement.

She has surrounded herself with the most pernicious individuals on her staff and they will say anything, do anything at any cost to anyone else to get what they want.

I want them to both go away.
  • Blueflash · 1 year ago
It's not just blacks. I'm white and its the only take on things that makes any sense. Does anyone really think the Clintons are so stupid as to want the nomination this time around when black voters, among many other Democrats, will certainly boycott the election? Of course they're not and they'd turn themselves into national pariahs by losing. At any rate, they know perfectly well the superdelegates aren't going to defy the will of the voters and hand them the nomination. So this is all one long and ugly charade on the part of the cynical Clintons to make Obama ever more unelectable and to make Hillary more appealing to less educated white Democrats who once hated her by creating the image of a "fighter" and "survivor". That goes over big time with the Budweiser and bowling crowd. Obama got in the way of the coronation and the Clintons are resigned to the fact that he must be dispensed with first and they'll have to wait a short four more years after the economy - much to their delight - has come crashing down upon John McCain's head. In 2012 it will be time for all us wayward children to come home to Daddy and Mommy. After all, they warned us that Obama was unelectable.
  • shell · 1 year ago
I have thought this for about 6 weeks -- well, ever since Bill made the South Carolina-Jesse Jackson remark. Contrary to many GOP thoughts, blacks are not stupid. But they ARE patient. It's a shame so many lily-white Americans see blacks as gang-bangers, hoodlums, whatever. They think they are toys -- just throw them a bone and they are forever yours.

Yes, blacks are patient. BUT when they have had enough, it will last a long time.

As for the Clintons, what are they thinking? They know not nearly enough will forget this by 2012. Do they think McCain will mess everything up so badly that blacks AND white Democrats will think, "We should have voted for the savior in 2008? Now we see the light!" Do they know this will never happen, but are so vindictive that they think that if she can't win THIS time, they will take their anger out on everyone?

Who knows? One thing I DO know is that the Clintons are sick puppies. And I think the same way, now, about their brain-dead followers.
  • Blueflash · 1 year ago
I should add that this understanding of what the Clintons are really up to won't often be even hinted at by the punditocracy. It sums everything up and leaves them with nothing to bloviate about for the next four months.

As an African American, I can tell you that to a person, regardless of income, education or class, a good number of people I've talked to will sit out November if HRC is on the ticket, even if Obama if the VP candidate. This is happening for several reasons:

    1. Betrayal. Number one reason. African Americans were so very much solidly behind BC during the Monica scandal and he was LOVED. He was let in as if he were family (but not I because I didn't vote for him in '96 because I saw then what many are seeing right now);
    2. African Americans are becoming increasingly fed up with the DNC and they see the manipulation of the DLC and they DO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE between the two. We are tired of the whimy, cowardly Democratic responses and actions to the Bush Administration;
    3. African Americans are undone by the disrespect. Before the Iowa caucuses, AAs were evenly split between Obama and Clinton. I would say that Clinton had an edge, with yet others supporting Edwards (and the others). Many blacks did not believe that America -- that is white America -- would vote for a black man for POTUS. Iowa made them believe. The Clintons in South Carolina made all of us angry. Many more were hurt by the remarks.

The Clintons are DONE as far as the AA community is concerned.

    BTW. Love Americablog.

Let ne tell you what is really going on in SC. Having been born and raised here I will tell you the truth as I see it and as all residents see it. we watched Mr. Clyburn bust his buitt to get to where he is today but he could not have done it without the white vote. He knows this and so do all of the rest of the black community here. he is truly a great man and has even stood up to jessie jackson and others (NAACP) when he felt that boycotts and such would hurt this great state. he also stands up to sen robert ford at times when he starts trying to act "too black". He loves the clintons always has and always will. the black community here does too. they will be the first to tell you that the clintons are good people but deep inside way deep down they are black and therefore they are anti white to some extent. enter obama. the black folks began gathering at scholls for meetings at night, and in the churches, because they hatched a plan. we all saw it coming (us typical white folk). they are currently involved, throughout the state, in organizing protest marches and the like JUST IN CASE obama does not become the president. mfor them it is not the nomination it is the presidency. they will not settle for anything less. i am ashamed that they have all turned their backs on the clintons but they see this as their ONLY hope for getting a black man in office who will advance their community to the same playing field that the white folks have enjoyed almost forever. they are preparing for the eventual race war. dont believe me? if obama becomes nominee but not president, who will be blames. thats right, whoit efolks. if he does not become the nominee who will be blames. thats right white folks. it is imperative that the black community including mr clyburn reach out as far as they can and make the whites look like they are racist when in fact most are not. they are doing exactly as obama had planned. rather than uniting the country he has succeeded in dividing us like we were back in the sixties but we are not there today but will be in november. i can assure you that the black community in this state would have voted for hillary against all others but they will never turn away from a black man no matter who he associates with or no matter where his loyalties lie. i personally blame obama for starting the eventiual race war and wonder if his plan originated with marxist and islamic teachings learned from indonesia and kenya or was he just born to hate all white people, jews and americans?

Hillary has cut Obama's lead in North Carolina in half in just one week. As one pundit puts it: Obama needs to stop spending money on ads that don't work. IMHO, Obama's the brightest guy running, but he refuses to put any "policy" in his ads:
