  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Ok, gave a quick 10 bucks.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
But we already knew he was guilty!
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
    Perfect timing for this verdict
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Perfect timing indeed! I can't wait to hear Palin and McCain talk about this....oh wait, never mind.... :-)
  • MotorCityBadBoy · 1 year ago
    What an October Surprise!!!

Guess the GOP never knew the suprise would be on them!

    Living it and loving it.

Well, there goes any wingnut conspiracies about Obama being blown off the TB and the Internet Tubes for about 3 more days while the Rethugs try to distance themselves from Teddy the Tuber and his Magic Rented Furniture From Hell. But why do I get this feeling that we'll be seeing all the lovely wingnuts crying about how this great man was railroaded - RAILROADED, I TELLS YA! - to cover up the fact that Obama is an Indonesian Muslim wealth-distributing Marxist who carves backward "B's into the faces of our virgin white womanhood. Why, I think ahm cummin' down with a case a tha vapahs!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
You know the Righties are going to say it was the "negros" in Washington DC that's against the old white man.
    Mark my words.
  • lucky hussein · 1 year ago
guess alaska is no longer 'leaning right' for senate.. color it blue!
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
So when is Bush going to make his "he's a fine man and it's a sad day in Amurrkuh's judicial system..." BS
  • MotorCityBadBoy · 1 year ago
ATF just broke up a skinhead plot in Tennessee and Arkansas to assassinate Barack Obama... This is why words matter and McCain and Palin should be held accountable for their name-calling and borderline hate-speech.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
McCain is actually losing ground in Alaska as well. Would it be too greedy to ask Alaska, AND Arizona be put in the Obama column? HMMM......dare to dream. :-)

It's a SAD day when your opponent is convicted of a felony on 7 accounts, and still the election be this close. A sad day indeed.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
Lipstick Sarah's pal Teddy Stevens guilty on all counts of corruption?

Say it ain't so, Joe not the Plumber (real name Sam)!
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
    ......In what respect Charlie?
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Wanna bet Bush will pardon him?
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
Can he serve in the Senate as a convicted criminal?
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
BREAKING NEWS: From MSNBC.com, ATF says it has disrupted a plot to kill Obama...very scary times...
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Fox News just reported the breakup of an assassination plot - be interesting to see the details - Fox mentioned briefly and in passing that those involved might be black - all sounds too weird..
  • MotorCityBadBoy · 1 year ago
No, Fox news should have said that the people the skinheads wanted to "involve" were black. I'm quite sure the blacks would have chosen not to be "involved" in this at all.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Supposedly they wanted to kill Obama and a large number of blacks at a predominately African American High School...

I hope they were just crazy talkers and not organized in any way.

God we are all going to need to keep President Obama in our thoughts every day...There are some wackos out there...
  • 1970cs · 1 year ago
The timing of this is similar to the 'terrorist plot' the FBI uncovered in Florida, that really wasn't . But it did serve the 'thugs' agenda at the time.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
This is huge. A perfect example of what the entire republican leadership should be labled:

    Convicted Felon.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
John, just wondering, why the four columns now? The comment column is squeezed so much it is getting difficult to see. Is the blog becoming more about advertising and donating than commenting? Interesting.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Wow. Between Stevens and Palin, Alaska politics may be in for a huge change...I have hope that people in AK are not as dumb and/or corrupt as their politicians.

Palin is going to be sorry she pissed off so many up there, too, not to mention all the crap that's come out about her since McBush picked her. Alaskans should be saying, What? Me afraid of someone who doesn't know as much as I do? Cheeeez.
  • PatogTX · 1 year ago
How can you be a convicted felon and serve in congress? What example does that set? Really. That astounds me.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Astounding isn't it? If any one of us was ever convicted of a felony, we would be hard pressed to find ANY job...
  • munjoyfan · 1 year ago
someone please explain the Zogby polls. McCain gained a point in the last 24, Obama half a point. They are now 5 points apart.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Somebody told me they are very Republican slanted and use 'old data'. Not sure how polling works, so I am somewhat confused as well..
  • Bluestocking · 1 year ago
This much is certain -- "Caribou Barbie" isn't going to like this at all, especially since her image may end up receiving a further patina of tarnish as a result of her close association with him.

Wonder how the good citizens of Alaska can possibly justify returning a *convicted criminal* to the Senate...! Sounds like we may be seeing another seat change from red to blue, hmmmm?
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I guess she'll have to put Stevens on her 'enemies list'....
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
Palin appears to be ethically challenged, too.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Stewart's Folly has much to account for, mostly folly.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
I know this is going to sound weird, but if Stevens wins, and gets expelled by the Senate, I wouldn't be surprise if Palin runs for his seat. (I think after Murkowski appointed his daughter, Alaskans have to have a special elections to elect the Senator)
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Oh good lord, I never even thought about that....
  • 1970cs · 1 year ago
She could probably be more 'mavericky' being the leader of Alaska than a back bencher in the minority party in the Senate. She would control the agenda and be less likely to have a Washington record of voting for things that are tacked on to other bills.

Her husband on the other hand...
  • Slim Cognito · 1 year ago
    What a terrifying thought!
  • gallery · 1 year ago
Don't worry.... she wants to be the PRESIDENT of the senate.... not a member.

I think the good people of Alaska don't want to become the laughing stock of the country. Guilty on ALL counts is a pretty persuasive argument for voting for the other guy.

    She'll be voted out next.

  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
If Sen. Stevens doesn't have the good graces to eliminate himself from the election, then the people of Alaska should do it for him. If he isn't defeated overwhelmingly, then Alaskans' judgment should be seriously questioned. I've seen Sen. Stevens throw one of his on the floor tantrums when he doesn't think he'll get his way. At 84 years old, if he hasn't matured beyond this, he never will.
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
Criminal or not, an 84 year old should not be running for re election in the Senate.
  • truebluecoondog · 1 year ago
    REALLY! WTF?
  • okojo · 1 year ago
"Uncle Ted" is sort of in the same position as Strom Thurmond, he is a legend in Alaska. The seat is his, except when he takes bribes.. It is going to be difficult to land at "Ted Steven International Airport" and drive on roads brought to you by "Uncle Ted"..

Hopefully Stevens will be voted out by Alaskans, but if he isn't, he will be expelled by the US Senate with the new 59 Democratic Majority and a couple Republican Stragglers up for re-election, like Senator McCain.
  • littleponygirl · 1 year ago
this is GREAT NEWZ!!! but it should be 'rein' as in whoa nelly not 'reign' as in Queen Liz. Too bad the Prez will pardon him.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
That report on the 2 skinheads plotting to kill 88/14 (symbolic numbers for skinheads) and then go after Obama was very scary. This is one the ATF FOUND (notice it wasn't the FBI). Imagine how many other hate group plots are out there that don't involve 18 and 20 yr olds?

And Sen. Palin? Please don't tell me Alaskans are that stupid after everything that's been revealed about her in the last 2 months, including her own behavior here. Or do they like their Fascist Queen that much? Well, they have put up with Stevens and Don Young all these years...
  • dougg · 1 year ago
As a convicted felon, can he vote for various candidates?
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don't stand in the doorway
    Don't block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    There's a battle outside
    And it is ragin'.
    It'll soon shake your windows
    And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come mothers and fathers
    Throughout the land
    And don't criticize
    What you can't understand
    Your sons and your daughters
    Are beyond your command
    Your old road is
    Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Maybe things are changin.
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
Let's all hope that the times, they are a changing . . . for the better

    STEVENS GUILTY!

Typical idiot skinheads, btw! Retards. Glad they got BUSTED for threatening Obama.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Does anybody know how that "conviction" plays down here in the "lower" 48?

I know the court was a federal court in DC, but does that mean that old corrupt bastard might actually go to jail? Will the United States Senate maybe censor him or something?

    I'm waiting.......
  • tigergrrldc · 1 year ago
If you are a convicted felon, you can't vote and usually can't get a decent job, but you can serve in Congress?
  • gallery · 1 year ago
In some states you can vote. Can't leave the country..... but you can vote.
  • michaelt · 1 year ago
i'd kinda like to see what a sitting senator in jail looks like.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Speaking of the skinheads, are they sure they weren't College Republicans?
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
College Republicans are just skin heads with hair, no tattoos, and a better wardrobe
  • rja4429 · 1 year ago
If there were a law banning felons from serving in the Congress, we would have no Congress.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
All righty then. Congress will just have to pass a goddamn law to prevent these assholes from keeping their seats, both senators and reps. As soon after 1/20/09 as they can get it written. I'm sure Pres. Obama will sign it. Or if it takes a constitutional amendment, well, get one written and passed. It's about time we had REAL reform of Congress.

Depending on state law, many convicted felons still can't even vote after serving their time.
  • Slim Cognito · 1 year ago
How quickly can Bush pardon him? Before the elections?
  • gallery · 1 year ago
nope. This is going to be a back door pardon..... while bushie sneaks out of the white house.
The list is going to be stunningly long.
  • uess · 1 year ago
and i point out once again: i will not be at all surprised if one of the names on the list is george w. bush.
  • gallery · 1 year ago
    well, yes.
He's stupid enough to try. ( the crayon, and the misspelling of his own name will be the big give away )

His justice department has already shredded everything needed to hold him accountable anyway.

    Hello Paraguay.......

Jeebus John, you worked for Stevens for five years, and not a word of personal, insightful, commentary?
