AMERICAblog: British soldier made $371,000 selling beer in Iraq

The "official" positon of the Pentagon is that no beer contracts were awarded from the US. However, we all know that they don't go after "black market" operations such as this. Wouldn't be surprised if Blackwater wasn't engaged in the same activities--they're exempt from alcohol purchases, from what I understand.

Why do I think "Cindy McCain" as I read this article?

We couldn't have any alcohol in the first gulf war. Compared to how the troops have it there now, we were totally spartan. So that's why I have no consideration for "their plight." They continue to support it because they've got it pretty good. If they had to endure what we did, they would have deserted en masse long before now. They're not US troops any longer. They're Big Oil troops living high on the hog at my taxpayer expense.

It's amazing to me that after 8 years of bush, I'm ashamed of being a southerner, then an american, and now no longer care about the troops and now no longer care about my family. Way to go wingnuts. Heckuva job. You'll get yours one day.

I share your sentiments. And no, they won't "get theirs" at all. See above.

I can place it on them all individually in my ritual garden and that's what I will do when I'm ready. It may kill me from exhaustion but I will do it when I know it's time.

Am a yank that moved south. Don't worry friend. Bush was born and bread on the east coast. He pretends to speak with a ascent. I used to live in TX back in 63 when I think the people were normal. I dont know what happened. They drank the Bush cool aid and it has been down hill since. I don't understand why the idiot is so popular in TX.

Can someone please tell me why I shouldn't feel this way? Because I'm not supposed to or something?

OT, but this is more important, and something another poster touched on yesterday:
This criminal cabal in the WH will get away with everything--everything, and the Dems are complicit in this, so don't expect anything to happen in an Obama administration. I mean, look at who's advising him, even though Obama himself is supposedly a Constitutional expert.
Of course, the masses, however, must be contained, so lock 'em up, build more prisons, separate families--everyone is on their own.

It's funny reading comments on other sites how frank they are about what should be done. It's gone to total seed out there.

Now just look who these young soldiers learn from. They see the higher commanders, who see their generals, who see their congress/senate who see their president cheating, stealing, and lying to the public. Hell no wonder some guys use our Yankee know how. The Brit soldier learned from the best. Dont you think?

Some professor (forgot his name -same one I believe you referenced above) was on Democracy Now yesterday - he is an Obama adviser - he argued, w.r.t. criminal accountabiilty of the Bush administration that sometimes it is necessary to break the law, and since Bush is the head of the executive branch he should be excused "..so long as his intentions were pure" from criminal prosecution, same with his cabinet. W.r.t. Bush giving his fellow conspirators immunity when he leaves office this nutcase said "..Bush would never do that".
I've lost a lot of respect for Obama, and starting to dislike those around him. When you trash the Constituion to "get elected" you're every bit a criminal as those whom you protect. Right now all I can say is that Obama will in all likelyhood be better then McShank - however, do not look for any prosecution of the criminals in the Bush regime - Obama has other things to do - of course, history will eventually paint Obama for the coward he will become if he lets these rat bastards off the hook. This country can't move forward when the crimes and lies of yesterday remain to fester - and they will fester.

This British soldier is the quintessential representation of Milo Minderbinder of Catch 22 fame. As the Wikipedia entry puts it: “. . . the living representation of capitalism, as he has no allegiance to any country, person or principle unless it pays him.” Once again reality catches up to even the most ourtrageous satire.
