    Obama Supports Telecom Amnesty Bill
By Ryan Singel June 20, 2008 | 7:28:07 PMCategories: NSA, Politics

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama supports the spy bill compromise passed by the House Friday, despite having opposed retroactive amnesty to telecoms that helped with the President's secret, warrantless wiretapping.

Hey Joe, you caught the smackdown of Broder that Ken Silverstein from Harper's initiated?

Obama has said that as president he would very actively monitor this capitul...I mean compromise legislation.

I think the problem also is that if Obama doesn't filibuster and loses the election, we are truly screwed. I feel, like you, it's better to fight this bill tooth and nail now than to take our chances that it will be corrected in the long term.

The Bill of Rights and the Amendments contained within are non-negotiable. Tampering with the two documents that are the glue binding our nation together should never, ever be a matter of "compromise." IMHO.

It didn't say if parents filed assault charges which it was. That in itself should get the guy fired, even if it was the 'X' he claimed. Incredible.

Yeah, I'd have filed assault charges. I saw the guy claim on the TV that he'd been trained by another teacher how to use the thingy that made the mark on the kid's arm, like that was supposed to make it all ok.

If I did something like that, I would never, ever work in my field again, and neither should he.

Why didn't Biden bring up McCain's legal problems with the FEC on MTP this morning? And Howie Kurtz's indignation with Obama's "flip flop" not getting the press coverage it deserved? Ugh. O/T but Brian Williams made me miss Russert. He was pathetic and made it clear the only thing they were memorializing was stupid flashback gotcha moments with no followup. Gotchas for gotchas sake.

I'm not the least surprised that even some so-called fellow Democrats are now attacking Obama with racist overtones. These people were in Hillary's camp all along and just waited for some kind of artificial controversy. Barack has very good reasons to endorse the Bush FISA compromise. He values the security of this nation and our susceptibility to hidden Al Qaeda cells. Extremists like Glenn Greenwald have no business attacking Barack when he needs our support the most: http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/

I am not sure when political pundits like Broder, Hume, O'Reilly, and the other usual suspects became the news and news worthy but journalism is in crisis, in my humble opinion and as said by others more qualified than I.

I grew up Irish Catholic in NY and my older brother turned me onto Carlin while in Catholic grammar school in the early 70's. My father found the record and broke it in half!!!

This is a youtube with his picture only but the sound to "I used to be Irish Catholic".

May Carlin be in Heaven for at least a week before the Devil knows he's dead. Slainte & Slán Leat!

As to Broder and those other tired old white a-holes, why is anybody still listening to them? The less time spent on TV, and the more spent working to take over the Democratic Party and obliterate the Republican Party, the better. Off the couches and into the clubhouses! Carlin would've wanted it that way. Or not.

    CARLIN QUOTATIONS:

"Death is caused by swallowing small amounts of saliva over a long period of time."

"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"In America, anyone can become president. That's the problem."

David Broder is a worn out pundit. How many voters even know him? As for McCain, I think he is simply nuts. I watched in amazement as he kissed Bush's political ass and cow towwed to the extreme right in 2005. The man stands for nothing, He exclusively talks "Pork Barrel" spending. What else has he got? Nothing. He should be president. The US of A is cooked anyway.
