Why am I confused here. I thought Bush has been at that level for sometime. I have been waiting for a 10 or 15 rating and in 8 years is hasn't happened.

I think the 28 percent still shows that there are dense, blindly loyal, Bush supporters in the country. Either they live under a rock, or still think the world is flat.

If we win the White House and the Senate I can only imagine that it will take all of 20 seconds for the GOP to start laying the economic collapse of the U.S. on the Dems door. We need to as a party hammer every day that they have destroyed the past, present and future of this country.

Three new surveys released today document the steep descent of President Bush, and with him, the American economy. While Bush's approval rating reached a new low of 28% in the AP poll, three quarters of economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal believe that the United States is in a recession that has yet to hit bottom. So it comes as no surprise that American consumer confidence spiraled down to its lowest level in 26 years.
Confusion think...Republicans have way to steal at least 20% of votes in-a 08. I pretty sure they will try and media will cover for them at every turn. I not-a kiddin'.

Nixon's approval rating never went below 24%. Likely because about that same percentage of people has an "authoritarian personality." Very important concept. See John Dean's book "Conservatives without Conscience", also Wikipedia RWA (Right Wing Authoritarianism.)

I'm reading a book right now on Franklin Pierce our 14th prez. The country today has many similarities to the 1850's as it does today. Discrimination against immigrants (Irish and Germans); political pressure from southern senators ( Kansas/Nebraska Act); a president that delegates too much authourity ( Douglas gets his way for popular soverginty),and not very interested in affairs of state ( Annexing and purchasing Cuba from Spain when given the opportunity). My point is the more things change the more they stay the same. 28% ,25%,18% what dfference does it make? This country will constantly elect presidents against their better interests. This falls in line with Hoover, Bucahnnon, Fillmore, etc. Great presidents come from bad turds the way life cycles through compost. It took a Lincoln to clean the apathy of Pierceand Bucahnnon; it took FDR to grow out of the manure of Hoover; it will take Obama's two terms and his V.P's two terms to grow out of the pile of stench left by Mr. 28% . Also reading the book of Romans, very interesting. The more things change... J.

25%-30% of our population choose authoritarian ignorance. Education won't change that, kindness and helpfulness won't either. That's the bottom, those are the ones who are Bush's "base." Some are wealthy, some not, but they are his base. They won't change their minds, they can't. Whether they suffer from ignorance, social learning disability, or malice, that's where they are. The Bush Base. What to do about the Bush Base? They're sidelined. It's going to be alright.

"As recently as August 2007 only 8% said the economy was the most important problem... now 37% in early April."
What? They have to lose their homes or their jobs before they figure this out? I guess some people are just slow.
But the 28.3% who *still* don't get it? They're stupid.
