AMERICAblog: Bush Housing Secretary to resign today

Meanwhile....the media morphs into a parody of a parody of itself, breathlessly (and endlessly) announcing "Chelsea Clinton says mom would make a better prez than dad!"...
is this NEWS? A daughter, asked a stupid, pointless, question opts to help the one now attempting to take over as president, and...this is news ?

BBC: The long-awaited "open skies" agreement between the US and European Union is coming into effect, aiming to open up trans-Atlantic air travel.

"Open skies" for low cost carriers could be a good thing. Then again, it might bring even more CockneyTourists to Florida. We have enough, thank you. They make tourists from Iowa look sophisticated.
Even worse? They don't bring enough £s with them to make it worth while to be nice to them.
Oh! Did I say that out loud?

Reuters, WSJ, all...this again, media bull. THIS is not a NEWS story. The only information, he is resigning, and lawmakers said he "behaved improperly in awarding federal contracts"
Does this mean he picked his nose, farted while he was awarding these contracts?
Probably not. Probably means kickbacks in some form, and looky what is missing. WHO GOT those contracts? If he behaved improperly, can he just resign (presumably with his kickbacks?) or will there be prosecution?

10 to 1 this is all we hear of it, someone else gets in, and all we know...legistlators say he behaved improperly.

Gee...I'm so impressed with the news agencies. Even if the story is still breaking, what would it take, a phone call? A glance at the "legislators" (or "lawmakers"...but WHO???) records (senate, house? comittee? who?) or something?

What a useless media we have.

This is ho-hum news about BushCo. But this isn't:

    http://cbs5.com/business/economy.Bush.Federal.2...

The Bush "plan" would allow the foxes to completely take over the henhouse. The corporate takeover of the US will be complete if this happens. If Congress were doing its job, and if Congress does it job (which its past doesn't indicate), then we wouldn't have the "central bank" comprised entirely of banking types, take over the entire US economy. The Fed is a quasi-govt agency, not a "govt agency" as NPR tried to describe it this am.

I am appalled at the ignorance of the media in all this, and the implications for not only US currency, but the who will control the US in the future--The People, or The Corporations. It's happening, people--and it's called fascism. Is anyone listening?

Meanwhile, Asian & European stocks dropped overnight, but don't expect the market to do too badly today as it sorts out Paulson's speech, giving them everything.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/index_asia.html

Of course, we--The People--will expect to see more inflation, the falling dollar, and depression-style living.
  • Reason0Politics1 · 1 year ago
Olderandwiser nails it. the completion of of the Fascist agenda is almost complete. THAT news trumps all atm. The only thing lacking are bands of brown shirts patrolling US cities and neighborhoods, terrorizing the population. And the news they pump? Chelsea's bs comments.

Callers on CSPAN are nailing it, too, Reason. People aren't stupid, just this govt.

On a brighter note, it seems the Saudis, post traitor Cheney's visit, are gearing up for dealing with nuclear fallout. now that Fallon is out of the way, expect the Iran front to open up soon. April 7th is discussed as a possible date, as the New Moon arrives, and it's extra stealth of moonless evening skies. They need to start another shock and awe to divert the sheeple from all the wretched economic news. Break out those yellow ribbons boyz! ( and your devo like radiation suits =/ )

I recommend we offer an "early retirement" package to the entire disgraced Bush administration just to get them out to where they can do no more harm. Back to Idaho for the whole lot of them.

ya Older... I mean more and more people ( even normally sheeple types ) are beginning to chat around the water cooler about about the utter stupidity of the "Economic Stimulus Pkg ", the bailing out of billionaires on Wall Street, while the people whither into depression. There really just aren't any more bubbles to be created to divert the complete crash. Look for fantasy and illusion to maybe get us to the fall, leading fools to think the worst is past, then complete and utter collapse of the house of cards. We are at the precipice kids. No where but abyss to go. All those nuts with their discussions of Cheney getting a Martial Law to happen and prevent actual elections are beginning to look not so kooky.
Just like Bear's "bail out" was really about the nearly $20 TRILLION in derivatives contracts they handle, the nearly $600 TRILLION in derivatives notationally globally represents more money than there is in the world, and the unwinding of that is unstoppable.

Dear Leader will have to govern from his Paraguay ranch when people start to actually go hungry and violence ramps up in the streets.

Fascism crept into Germany, too...it didn't happen overnight.

And the possibility of a pre-emptive nuclear attack on Iran by the US (and a follow up by its actor in the ME, Israel--"defensive measures") is far too much of a possibility to be ignored. You simply cannot escape the ravages of a nuclear confrontation with Iran (which has NO nuclear weapons)--SA is in for a big surprise. Plus, it's cutting off its own hands to satisfy the ravishing hunger of BushCo for annihilation of many, many people in the ME. This cannot be allowed to happen. Wake up!

"we don't care about corruption, Bush tells jokes at dinner parties"-cable news

It is just like the Reagan administration that had Pat Saiki as the head of the Small Business Administration. Neil Bush marched into her office and requested a 2 million dollar loan for his new "business" Acme Oil Co. in Wyoming. Pat made sure Neil got his 2 mil, and then low and behold, Neil's "business" promptly went belly up and he "could not "pay back the 2 mil....being a "corporation" he was not responsible for the debt...........this is the way Republicans do business and it has been that way for 25 years....Neil had a good belly laugh about it.

I'm sure this is so old a thread no one will read this, but it is a lot like a quote I heard from a "financier" that went "if you borrow a few hundred thousand, the bank owns you, borrow a few million, you own the bank!"
