The Onion!!! Thanks for that-I'm home sick today, and that story made me feel better!

Sorry you're sick, hope you get better! But what a hoot the Onion is, hey? It's going to be interesting to see if SNL can skewer Palin when she's on the show Sat. night...she won't know what hit her because she truly doesn't understand nuance.

They forgot to mention the most important: 'no more silly oversight or regulation' , 'massive deficits', 'voter suppression', 'incompetent government leading to it's destruction'

This Onion piece is a classic. You've seen it before haven't you?

My other favorite Onion story is the 'Why Do All These Homosexuals Keep Sucking My Cock?' piece.

I read it when it came out. I didn't know, however, how prophetic it would be. That's the fascinating part.

It was hilarious when it came out and you're right, very creepily prophetic today.

Oh, and for those that haven't read it, a link to the homosexuals story I mentioned above:

For YEARS I have been trying to find an SNL skit from 2000 - from the Oval Offices of Gore, Nader and Bush, respectively as an "into the future" look at what might happen in their presidencies. George Bush was hiding under the desk until they forced him out to talk about how the nation was broke, on fire and flooded (and more, I'm sure). Simply prophetic. Anyone think they might know where to find it??

Totally going to bum people out but does anyone remember the SNL Skit that Gore did in 2006 "from the Oval Office" where he went over all the accomplishments of his first term thus far?

    Effing creepy.

Our 7-year 9-month national nightmare is nearly over. But the credit card bill has not yet been received.

The next several presidents will be sweeping up the damage from this catastrophe for decades!

This was funny and scary back in 2001...now it's just funny and sad.

    Agreed.

Off topic: McCain gives up on Wisonsin and pulls out of the state! C-ya. I guess his campaign strategy of saying he hates Milwaukee, and that he 'would never live there' was probably not a good angle to take........I'm just sayin'.....

    Update: And Maine

I'd never seen this before..but it certainly was in line with my point of view at the time. I really couldn't understand why anyone would vote for Bush after he turned Texas into a Third World Country in only two active years as Governor. We've later found out, pretty much at least, that he wasn't voted in--merely annointed. Still this is wonderful in it's foresight...only now we're crying instead of laughing.

Yup . . . I remember seeing that at the time. A few years ago, when I realized it wasn't so funny anymore, I put a blown-up copy of it in my office door . . .

Around the same time, The Onion also had a great photo of everyone from the 1980s who would be coming back for the new Bush administration . . . including ALF:
