AMERICAblog: Bush to leave next President record high budget deficit

  • paulbot5 · 1 year ago
I doubt obama will fix the budget either, the gov has no incentive to lower spending
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
It'll be hard to do within one or even two terms without throttling the economy.

You really have to take it down slowly.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
saving $2 billion a week on eye-rack fixes quite a lot. there's a similar savings available from rolling back the bush tax cuts for the rich.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Yeah, but the Eye-Rack savings won't count, because Bush is running that war off the books anyway.

Those costs are on top of Bush's record deficit.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
You can doubt Obama won't fix the budget, but you BETTER BELIEVE McCLOWN won't because HE WON'T PERIOD - no DOUBT about it!

The top 5% of the wage earners in the country already pay 80% of the taxes. Why not just raise that to a 100% and let the rest of us ride free?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Your buddy Rush Limbaugh says the top 20 percent of wage earners pay 80 percent.

    Which is it?

New data was out today. On the news; but no link yet...
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
That'd be a hell of a jump: From 20 percent to 5 percent.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I'm skeptical now.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
If the top 5% would run their companies the way they should be run then the average worker would benefit from a stronger dollar. The top 5% can only spend so much of the bazillions of dollars they are holding back from the economy. They can only wall themselves off so much, and let the rest of America "eat cake." That top five percent needs to just thank God they have so much money in the first place and give back to the system that protects them from ever losing their money, by giving them average tax payer bailouts whenever they screw up and lose their money on risky ventures. I'm real tired of people taking up for those "martyr bazillionaires." Plenty of them are George Bu$h trust fund kids who scream about the death tax all the time. TAX THE HELL out of 'em!
  • CitizenX · 1 year ago
If they are estimating 482 billion, you can bet it will be 550 billion.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Um....Chris.

It's actually about $100 billion worse than you say.

The administration actually underestimates the deficit, however, since it leaves out about $80 billion in war costs. In a break from tradition — and in violation of new mandates from Congress — the White House did not include its full estimate of war costs.

McCain pulls a daddy Bush and flip/flops on "no new taxes" The man is truly a weasel....

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Not only that, but he did it wrong.

The dummy's supposed to flip-flop on taxes AFTER the election, not before.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
    No kidding; what a dumbass...
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
And you are genetically predisposed to recognise the scent of weasels?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Then why are you going to vote for him?
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
It is obvious what George W Bush's dumb ass legacy will truly be.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
At least Americans won't be personally dealing with the effects of depleted uranium.

Come on, DJ, you can't blame it on the "twins"...
  • therepguy · 1 year ago
Those numbers don't even include the cost of bush's oil war!

Who would have guessed... everyone expect maybe those right wing republican and their christian fascist enablers!

Yet another gift to America from the fascist leaning bush family!

So just what has bushism given America over the last 8 years...

    1. He's gotten us into a oil war... in order to "clean up his Dad's mess in the middle east"....at least in his shallow mind it was a mess and all good texas boys are going to clean there dad's messes!

    2. Offer up pay outs and tax break to his so called big business buds... all of whom are anything but buds and who are more than willing to take the money while laughting all the way to the bank... again a shallow mind at work.

    3. Castrated the bureaucracy while leaving the bureaucrats helpless and frighten for their jobs!

    4. Burred the economy in debt, drove the dollar into the gutter and collected the stock market... all in the name of a oil war.

    5. Turned the right wing republican party in to a curse word while turning the republican party into American first and hopefully only fascist party... remember that fascism in the bush family runs deep!

    6. Now this... when will the people rise up and demand that bush the fascist be impeached, yes impeachment before he turned out of office!

There is one good thing that is rising from the ashes of bushism... that fact that no right thinking American, Man, woman and yes child will never again vote for a fascist republican for anything more than "DOG CATCHER" if that!

Since Barack's kind of an enlightened "metrosexual" type of guy; I wonder if Michelle will have his oysters in visegrips during his entire presidency?
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
It will be a relief to have a president who doesn't let his testosterone do the the talking. And despite Jesse Jackson's threats, I doubt anyone is going to emasculate Obama.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
True, but if you want to be really safe, McCain hasn't had any testosterone in his body for years.
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
No, those numbers don't even come close. Just ask Bill gross of PIMCO the countries largest buyer of US Treasury bonds. The mess that was created by the greed of Wall Street while our government looked to other way is beyond reprehensible. The idiot in the White House hasn't got a clue and niether does the old man hoping to take his place in November.
Factually, not poetically, we witness the financier’s grossly inflated, quadrillion dollar credit empire crumble to the dust that it is worth, on a largely parabolic course (meaning at an increasingly faster pace). The latest HUGE stumble is of the mega-trillion, bubble-blowing, inflation engines of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. As a consequence, this event necessitates Congress to aggressively partner with the Fed to create our upcoming bubble finale in which the financiers also destroy themselves. The world will not nearly resemble this day. Now you know why we have read the headlines that appeared this weekend. prices are going up and up and the pain will be felt.
Not a day before they have to, will financiers and governments willingly acknowledge or allow final bankruptcy of their system as we currently well see in sorry Zimbabwe. Powerful financiers and governments will not lift a finger to stop what they themselves are similarly, but not so crudely, guilty. This will all continue until the overwhelming crush of debt is liquidated and unredeemable fiat paper is near useless. And it will continue beyond, until these financial and political parasites have sucked dead any and all remaining productive capacity that they can leach into -- until or unless we can gain enough organization and strength to stop them. Be able to say you helped. but without all of us acting in concert saying enough is enough, then you too will be steamrolled into financial oblivion.

Hey, I bought some PIMCO Opportunity fund. Looks like your buddy Bill skimmed off the best mortgages and put them into a Wall Street trading vehicle. Symbol is PKO, pays over 9%. Somebody has to profit from misery, right?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Come to think of it, PIMCO sounds like one of my 401k funds.

    Looks like it's barking too:

Unbelievable. The vicious cycle. Republican's ruin the economy, Democrats have to raise taxes to fix it. Republicans blame Democrats for raising taxes to win election, then ruin economy once they take office, Democrats have to raise taxes to fix it... shampoo, rinse, repeat. Clinton left with $128 billion surplus... Dick Boy has posted a deficit in EACH of his 7 years as Appointed-by-the-Supreme-Court-Leader. Fuck him. Impeach this asshole.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
    Impeach this asshole.

Agreed, this country needs a 'proctotomy'
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
Hahaha... well played, sir... well played.
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
Uhhhh... why does this site have a Northrop-Grumman ad-banner??? That's a little shameless to have an add from part of the military-industrial-complex on a site for people that are mostly against that whole industry.
  • bronco214 · 1 year ago
Hmm, almost half a TRILLION dollars and they don't even include the war-80 to 120 BILLION. 'course the rethugs borrow and spend so, if it's on a credit card, it doesn't count.
  • ShochuJohn · 1 year ago
Hang on, I'm confused. A little after this post (rightfully) complaining about the deficit, we have another post chewing out congress for failing to pass the Tom Coburn No Letz Us Has BACON! deficit spending bill. I think we might all be more credible on the whole fiscal responsibility thing if we can agree to cut everyone's pet spending projects.
  • cab02149 · 1 year ago
Yes but one must FIND those records to learn how bad off we are. Who really expects anything other than empty offices should McCain loose?

Who really expects nothing less than an administrative nightmare in Washington which will take years to reconstruct?
  • jr · 1 year ago
the media still pretends Arthur Laffer's "tax cuts increase tax revenues" lie is the gospel
  • tofubo · 1 year ago
the number given is 482 billion, the amount of total debt added will be over 800 when soc.sec. and other accountings are added

the proposed budget is UU.'s, but congress is who will pass the legislation, be ready to put the blame where it belongs
  • DanInHouston · 1 year ago
And surely the deficit has nothing to do with the war either.
We do not need Bush III - we would become a third world country...
  • cwzilla · 1 year ago
And bush will leave office with that stupid smirk on his face sayin "what!!me worry??"
  • bunnyjump · 1 year ago
It's a Repug tactic. Trash everything and then leave (and blame) the Dems to clean up.
