AMERICAblog: Bush wipes out decades of US Forestry policy

  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Well you know Bush has got to have that library built. Just like Clinton I want to know where the money comes from. These guys would sell their country for an almight dollar. I wish we could stop them from building libraries all together.
  • rja4429 · 1 year ago
Righto. All the stuff in those "libraries" actually belongs to the American people as a whole. But the prespols steal it and seal it away in their presidential vaults where we can't read it. Chances are Bushie will have the biggest secret vault of all.

    only 199 plundering days left!
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
Ohhh, and the pace will pick up, You can expect public lands to start slipping down the ever more greedy vortex that is this Administration.
  • rja4429 · 1 year ago
199 days, my ass! Count the days until the October surprise, then we'll see how much longer George W. Mugabe will be plundering in the White House.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Yes sir, after he leaves it will take Obama first term to fix the shit the idiot-in-chief screwed up. Maybe than this country will look good in the eyes of the world.

My continuing question is where are the Democrats? What oversight are they providing? Rove just told Waxman to pound salt. None of this happens if our politicians do their fucking job for once. They are more concerned about their vacations, their bribes, kick backs, young boy parties, hookers, diapers, toe tapping. How about turning in a full years work? No, that would mean they wouldn't have time for some nice across the aisle reach arounds, some nice bi-partisan tonguing. I am tired of seeing Bush's minions do what they want, but is no one working in Washington. Is no one keeping the records straight, is no one minding the store, is no one watching where our $Trillions are being pissed away?
We all know the answer, not a single son of a bitch in Washington gives a good god damn, if they did every time this shit happens they would be screaming from the steps of the Congress. Pelosi and Reid and every other one of those swinging dicks are all on the take, all accepting kick backs and bribes and I defy them to prove they are actually in charge or on top of anything except their own well being.

I am waiting for Conyors to go have Rove handcuffed and arrested and brought to the house committee. That will be a day we can all celebrate. Yep lets all pray. That will be justice for all

If only we Dems had the same intestinal fortitude the Republicans exhibit. I don't mean in a nasty way but to stand up and declare a position. We liberals unfortunately are represented by politicians who are not committed to the beliefs of Liberals. They embrace everything but I am afraid believe nothing. They must soon realize we will not be lied to much longer. We have been on the sidelines after the 2006 election and they have completely failed to follow through on their promises. We changed the course of the Congress for a reason and yet even now with a slim majority the Republicans take us to the wood shed every week. We control what bills get to the floor of Congress simply stop putting up spending bills. When someone defies a Committee he must be arrested so all understand that the will of the American people is above the lying, cheating and manipulating of this Administration. I will wait and watch.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
I see what you mean. But as liberals we must be patient. Obama has to move a little to the center. If he wants to get Independents and moderate republicans to switch. I am old enough to know now that even if we can get half a loaf its better than nothing. Everyday I get up and worry about our country. What is going to happen to my child and my grandchildren. Their lives may not be as good as mine was growing up. I just want a comfortable life. I want everyone to make a living wage. I don't think I ask for yo much. Everyone should have that. Also national healthcare so people won't lose everything if the get sick. It should be a right for everyone.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
NO! Obama does NOT need to move to the center. You may want him there, but the majority of the country does not.

Patience? The time for patience is GONE!

No environmental assessment but Bush is such a green president he has stopped any solar energy projects on public lands until they get an environmental assessment the wait is expected to be 2 years.

If any states with mountains in it doesn't have a ridge law yet, they should pass one. Doing so stopped condo development in the mountains in NC; however, it didn't stop the rich from building McMansions. I suspect before long, every single inch of available natural preserve will be owned by the wealthy. Even now, at Lake Norman here in NC, there are no public accesses except for boating. If you want to camp, picnic, swim or just sit around the lake, you must do so at "Duke Power State Park" at the top of the lake which leaves a lot to be desired. None of that is permitted in any other area, since lake property now goes for about $250,000 an acre.

The last bastion of the grizzly bear in the Lower Forty Eight is now gone. Folks who after losing their homes find themselves living under the bridge will now be sharing their space with the twelve hundred pound grizzly without a room.

The plundering will not stop until the evening of January 20, 2009. After that, the dirty deeds will have been done, the records will have been expunged, the new president will not prosecute plunder or treason, and the face of the nation will have been permanently disfigured. I do not plan ever to forgive anyone who ever voted for the Bush trash nor to help them if they ever cry out in pain or need in the future.

Malice? No. Revenge? No. Justice? Obviously.

"In the tradition of Presidents Jefferson, Adams and Monroe -- who also passed on July 4th -- it is fitting that such a patriot who fought for free markets and free people would die on Independence Day. As we celebrate the birth of our nation, I thank God for the blessings we enjoy, which Senator Helms worked so hard to preserve."

Why can't Congress step in and say "fuck no"?
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
Because they cut out their own tongues, painted them in patriotic colors, hung them around their necks and wear them as neckties.
  • rja4429 · 1 year ago
Because, beyond the fact they have no program of their own, the "Democratic Congress" is made up of gutless bitches and bastards who are deathly afraid of being called "unpatriotic." At all cost, they give Bushy what he wants so they won't be awarded that godawful nametag. Sadly, they don't see that this particular behavior IS unpatriotic!
  • mirth · 1 year ago
There is minuscule evidence that Congress, either side, has much of a problem with the direction of the country.
  • gwpriester · 1 year ago
What amazes me is this has been SOP from day one of the Bush administration. It has been one outrage after another with Bush's friends making billions and the Americana public getting hosed.

SO why is the democratic party not repeating these outrages over and over and over again to remind the public who their friends are and what party has been screwing them?

Or are the democrats just as much to blame. Or do the democrats really not want to win back the government?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Holy crap! Is there nothing the Congress won't do to feather their own nests.? I bet this is happening because of greedy principals on either side of the aisle. If everything was left to the governing body of this nation we, the citizens, would be freezing our asses off due to high energy costs, breathing severely polluted air due to manufacturing, watching our environment wither and die, WHILE these asses live on private unpolluted islands.

I can't believe that anyone thinks there is a significant difference between the political parties.

The plundering of this nation started with Nixon taking the country off the gold standard to print fiat money to pay for Viet Nam. It continued with Reagan and his blatant policies favoring corporations. And yes, it continued through H.W. Bush and St. Clinton, who signed into law THE disastrous trade agreement that paved the way for all the Wally Mart stuff to be made in China.

Obama has no convictions except to get (s)elected like G.W. I won't even comment on Sen. InSane.

It's interesting that these hedge fund criminals have so much money that they can afford to rape some really wonderful territory, so they can show off and brag about this stuff while they're in France. That is sick beyond comprehension.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Of course there are idealogical differences between the two parties. Yet we have, at this golden moment in our history, supposed progressives agreeing that Obama should move to the center, thus mushing liberal beliefs and conservative beliefs into one common bowl of tasteless pablum.

I wonder if our doom will seem as devastating if we have asked for it.
  • joshuasgrandma · 1 year ago
This may be the last pine needle that turns a red state blue - we can only hope that the progressive concerns that caused Montana to elect a Democratic governor will finally catch fire in November. Remember Ralph Nader said that it would take two terms of Republican control and the environmental damage they would cause for the American people to wake up to reality. He was so right!
