Even that could be more complicated than it appears. The Mahdi Militia has several rogue elements within it. Iran may very well be supporting rogue elements in order to undermine Sadr's authority. This is certainly a case where the details are critical. Of course, such details would be unreliable if they were achieved through torture, which is probably the case.

You see the name "Michael Gordon," you should immediately think "Judith Miller."
It really is that simple. Check the by-lines on many of Judith's articles and the co-author of some of her books. It's not as confusing as it might seem. They are the same person.
