2 points:
1. Republicans would rather have a Commander in Chief than a President.
2. The delay of the convention is supposedly to show concern over Gustav, but may well signal a rebellion in the GOP ranks over a non-vetted VP, and an attempt to replace at least on person on the ticket. don't be surprised if Palin withdraws in order to go home and "care" for her daughter.

I've been saying that for a couple of days now. Not sure if they would take that chance but if she does leave, you know if typical Republican fashion to "spend more time with their family", I would be very nervous about who they might get (i.e. a "really" strong female candidate)...

McCain did not vet Palin and knew very little about her. His staff knows less. This was a glitz move and to pacify the base. But, base or not, whether she is qualified or not, the ultimate responsibility falls on McCain. It is the responsibility of the presidential candidate to vet who he picks for veep and he failed. He failed and he showed extremely poor judgment. And that is what a commander in chief test is about. On the other hand Obama did one of the most intensive vettings known in Washington. So, who is really ready to be c in c and can pass that test.

How about all Americans coming together for the following as well:
- 47 million Americans who have no health insurance. - Americans who are seeing their jobs shipped overseas, and they lack the work skills to find new jobs. - Americans who are losing their pensions. - Americans who are working for "minimum wage" which is insufficient to make ends meet. - American middle class who can't afford to send their kids to college. - Corporate tax loopholes that push costs of government down on those who can least afford them. - Stem cell research that offers the potential to cure major diseases.
