AMERICAblog: Candace Gingrich pens an open letter to her big brother Newt

  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
    Good letter, but what "foolish actions" does she mean? Whatever those actions were, they pale in comparison to the hatred, bigotry and divisiveness fomented by the sanctimonious rightwing of whatever religious persuasion.

    Good Lord. That's poetry.

    Yes, Newt the Twice Divorced (or is it Thrice) and Thrice Married, defender of traditional marriage. Shouldn't hypocrites like him be BANNED from marrying again? Isn't he the true threat to traditional marriage?
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
    he should be castrated so he can't reproduce

    Newt is very much a part of the past. That Reagan Revolution crap...how'd that work out for ya? How's your investment portfolio, Newt? Newt is one of those evil assholes who followed the Lee Atwater and Karl Rove playbook. Bring out the ignorant white trash on election day so I can rape and pillage the American people. god, guns, gays.

    I think we just saw the American people have had enough of you, Newt. I think it's time to put on Judy Holliday singing from the B'way musical "Bells Are Ringing"

    THE PARTY'S OVER, IT'S TIME TO CALL IT A DAY
  • Webster · 1 year ago
    Aside from his many documented adulteries (which include Newt pressing his first wife to sign divorce papers while she was still in the hospital recovering from cancer surgery)--he goes on Faux News to attack his sister by acclaiming her as part of the "gay fascist movement" seeking to overturn traditional American values.

    This, children, is Republican "Family Values." Avoid them at all costs.

    'I fail to see how any of these patterns coincide with the values of "historic Christianity"'...

    C'mon - their acts are a continuation of christianity as hit has been practiced over the years....
    - Witch? Burn them;
    - Jew? Burn/beat/gas them;
    - Not our "flavor" of christianity? Burn/beat/excommunicate/chase away/etc;
    - Insist science actually be taught in school instead of our peculiar unscientific myth of creation? You must be restricting education;
    - Not a christian? Heathen, subject to going to hell when you die, but why wait - let's make your life on earth hell.

    I really, really respect folks and their right to believe what they believe. But if they want to repress what I believe, they've got a fight on their hands.

    Newt, Newt, Newt... If you don't drop this obsession with homosexuality, people are going to start getting ideas about you! Think about it, sweetie. Think about all those gay-bashing GOP closet flamers we've seen getting caught in men's rooms lately? Before they got caught, who did they all sound like? Hmmm? Anyone come to mind? YOU, perhaps? If you don't want to end up like those others, let Ritorna give you a few tips:

    1) Keep eating just like you are. Don't allow yourself to look the least bit attractive.

    2) Keep dressing like that. Avoid fashion at all costs.

    3) No more divorces. Try to look like you enjoy living with women. But just one at a time, ok? More looks like you're trying to make a point.

    4) Try to think about something besides gay sex!!!

    Bravo!

    Why, thank you, Shirley! And what a lovely self-portrait of you and your little girl! She's darling! I sent my photo to one of those paint-by-the-numbers self-portrait places that mails back the canvass and all the paint so all you have to do is match the numbers and fill in the colors. But I don't think they mixed the paint right. I came out looking like a Picasso with rosacea. It was heartbreaking.

    Newt Gingrich: a man out of time.

    useless and irrelevant, why does anybody
    even pay attention to him?

    Interesting article in the Salt Lake Tribune today about the proposition 8 "P.R. fiasco" for the Mormon church:

    I just learned the Episcopal church (my church) was in the process of adapting the liturgy for gay marriage (and good for them). Now, if there's a section in my prayer book that I am forbidden by law from using, how is that constitutional? It would be one thing to force Mormons to marry gays, but how is it constitutional to prevent my church from doing it? That's the most fundamental restriction of religion isn't it?

    if there's a section in my prayer book that I am forbidden by law from using, how is that constitutional?

    The Unitarians and United Church of Christ have been asking that question for decades now....
  • PaulG · 1 year ago
    It's a bit weird. I've always been in favor of gay marriage, but finding out (some of) the churchs back it too just makes the whole anti-gay marriage controversy more offensive. Maybe it shouldn't make a difference, but it does. These are the people I knew growing up and I always assumed they would feel as I do, but to see the church taking a stand in favor of gay marriage still feels empowering.

    And prop 8 is just too scary, as if we are bring back the old religious wars, auto-da-fe and the rest.

    Why can't I edit my posts? Why am I being forced to log in for every comment I post? Sure, I'm ranting like a retard, but I've never had this much trouble trying to post a comment to AmericaBlog.

    It was MUCH MUCH BETTER before DISQUS came along.
