It will probably turn out that 14% of the people polled are on the receiving end of the combined great swindle and robbery that is draining the treasury of this country under the label of the war on terror.

If you like poll numbers, try this page. The American Research Group, Inc. has scads of numbers, none too good for Bush. Some really interesting numbers here.

I agree with FunMe why is McSame getting such high poll ratings in light of this one? Do people really want 8 more years of McSame? That makes me shudder to think what our country would look like then...

You do realize that the wrong track crowd also includes those that think marriage and the family need to be protected from homosexuals, and that 'all theories' need to be taught in biology. These movements have lost strength recently.
  • OneManComotion · 1 year ago
Interesting over at kos. An article makes a point that if we should all of a sudden find Osama Bin Landen before Nov elections that it might benifit Bush's "third term" ha.
Should it be stated and reafirmed now that it is Obama that has invigorated the direction of our tempers towards finding Bin Landen in Afganistan and not McCain to lesson the impact this would have for McCain? This could end up being the "Swan Song" in staged events that we have endured for the past 8 years.
I can not take another 4 years of these people.

tlstinx.....guess what McCain only had 20 HOURS in COMBAT,not 20 days

    my bad

"McCain had roughly 20 hours in combat," explains Bill Bell, a veteran of Vietnam and former chief of the U.S. Office for POW/MIA Affairs -- the first official U.S. representative in Vietnam since the 1973 fall of Saigon. "Since McCain got 28 medals," Bell continues, "that equals out to about a medal-and-a-half for each hour he spent in combat. There were infantry guys -- grunts on the ground -- who had more than 7,000 hours in combat and I can tell you that there were times and situations where I'm sure a prison cell would have looked pretty good to them by comparison. The question really is how many guys got that number of medals for not being shot down."

so all this 'great warrior' business amounts to 20 hours total. hmmm.

Let me guess half of those 14% who think the economy is on the right track are CEO's and the other half are dumbass, brainwashed republicans who think Bush is a f--king economic genius and his policies shouldn't be blamed for the collapse of our economy.

Remember Bush said he would be the "CEO" president and run the government like a business. He never told us that he would be using Enron as his business model.
  • Patriot · 1 year ago
Poll numbers like this are long past due. You would think that the 14% who view things as rosy would be the wealthy elite that are untouched by by any of the accumulating mess created by the Bush administration. Many probably are. However, walk into a bar in a conservative state, make a bad comment about George Bush and you might be blown away by the average working middle class that will fervently lecture you about what a great president bush is and how none of this is his fault. More war until we get the job done usually follows closely behind. Furthermore, these are people who are barely making ends meet and have seen a dramatic drop in their businesses. The mentality in some of these places is still bewildering.

The lady across the street from me is indignant because "the media only report bad things that happen. Don't they realize how lucky we are to live in the richest and happiest country in the world? Everyone wants to come to America and get a job. Can you blame them? This is the best place in the world. We are so lucky, why is the media so negative?" And on and on and on . . .
  • Sarrellec · 1 year ago
Wasn't there a report a month or so ago that the happiest country was Holland...or was it Denmark. It certainly wasn't the USA.

Also, isn't the richest country these days Dubai? The one that is building artificial islands and attracting the world's multi-millionaires because there are no real laws to keep them from doing anything they want?

Or perhaps the richest country is Bermuda, as that is where the corporate funds raided from the revenue of fleecing employees and consumers in the US is kept to avoid taxes?

Or, wouldn't the richest country be China, as it holds the most paper on the USA?

And, no, Lady-across-the-street, not everyone wants to come to the USA to get a job. The only people who want to come to America to get a job are from third world countries where pebbles and roaches are considered currency OR the country they live in doesn't allow them to raid revenue and become a multimillionaire at the expense of those that can least afford to support them. After all, our healthcare system is better than Slovenia's! The USA is NUMBER ONE>>>>among third world non-industrialized nations in the world.

What is the percentage for "Off the track, upside down in the weeds"?
  • ARP · 1 year ago
Remember sizeable chunk of those who think we're on the wrong track are those who think we haven't done enough with issues like because abortion, gay marriage, sex ed., school prayer, etc. Faux News continues to convince them they are on the defensive against the liberal attacks. So, the numbers are skewed.
  • Eric · 1 year ago
I thought the same thing when I saw these numbers. I am afraid you are right. If we only had a king, a outright empire and theocracy for good measure, then many of the people who said "wrong track" would be happy. I call this group the "Jean-Marie LePenn" segment of the U.S. electorate. In France, he usually got 15 to 18% of the vote. I think that in the U.S. they are probably 25% to 30% of the electorate. Thus, America has been derailed -- because another 25% to 30% of the electorate (REPUBLICANS) have allowed these people to rule the GOP and thus the country. We can never win over the "Jean-Marie LePenn" crowd. But, Good Lord, when will that other half of the Republican Party finally come to its senses?

  • tech9803 · 1 year ago
I agree with FunMe why is McSame getting such high poll ratings in light of this one?

Because his BBQ-sauce fanboys in the media spend their time regurgitating his spin and amplifying his manufactured 'image' and calling it news, while harping on Obama's terrible bowling scores and Hillary's pantsuits which are vital because...just because. Their bosses like it.
  • Sarrellec · 1 year ago
Since 80% of the wealth is in the hands of only 20% of the population, then this poll suggests that even 6% of the hell-bound multi-millionaire bastards who are willingly sacrificing the lives, limbs, faces and futures of American children and any American who needs healthcare/healthcare coverage to get even more millions don't like it either.

    Imagine that.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Presidential candidate Barack Obama's support among Democrats has softened over the last month, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Thursday.

Obama's favorability rating among Democratic primary voters dropped 7 percentage points to 62 percent since the last survey in late February, the Times said. The decline has been mostly among men and upper-income voters.

Since the last survey, the Illinois senator has been fighting off attacks from rival New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Obama also gave a speech on race last month in response to reports that his former pastor had made racially charged and anti-American statements at his Chicago church.

Obama's big lead among men over Clinton disappeared during that period, the Times said.

In February, 67 percent of men wanted the Democrats to nominate Obama compared with 28 percent for Clinton. Now, 47 percent of men back Obama compared with 42 percent for Clinton, the poll found.

Here is how Historians view this period of United States history:

    http://hnn.us/articles/48916.html

“George Bush has combined mediocrity with malevolent policies and has thus seriously damaged the welfare and standing of the United States,” wrote one of the historians, echoing the assessments of many of his professional colleagues. “Bush does only two things well,” said one of the most distinguished historians. “He knows how to make the very rich very much richer, and he has an amazing talent for f**king up everything else he even approaches. His administration has been the most reckless, dangerous, irresponsible, mendacious, arrogant, self-righteous, incompetent, and deeply corrupt one in all of American history.”

    http://hnn.us/articles/48916.html

And if you vote McCain expect more of the same. Corruption!

What a time to have 2 of the weakest democratic candidates in history (except for Dukakis and McGovern).
They are barely tied with McCain, who has to be the worst repub candidate since Bob Dole.
