AMERICAblog: Chicago Sun-Times: McCain's negative ads could make him look "angry" and "petulant"

  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Ever been around a group of twelve year olds? Ever heard their conversation? It's all about put downs and ranking out other kids and being very nasty...and don't tell me "well not my kid"...your kid is doing it to.

Since we are nothing more now than a nation of junior high kids, maturity and knowledge wise, then attack ads work.

McSame is an incredibly easy target. Karl Rove knows that this style of campaign works and works every time.

Gentlemen with class like Kerry wind up on the ash heap. The very fact that Bush could get two terms and McCain is even near the top in any poll should tell you what you need to do Barack. Go preach to the twelve year olds.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
at age 12, boys are transitioning from cub scouts to boy scouts. a good scout leader can make sure they don't get stuck in a Webelos mindset. so leading is better than preaching. (based on the polls, i'm not worried about the "girls".)
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
and the kind of kids who join scouts are highly unusual
today....leading may work but not in elections
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Bostonian: John Kerry didn't wind up on the " ash heap", WE DID! I must say, however that the voters will get what they deserve and so this election will tell just how many times the same folks can be fooled with the same old Republican slime tactics.
  • Captain_America · 1 year ago
I agree -- voters will get what they deserve if they vote McInsane. Maybe one day people will start caring more about the real issues that affect them... but sometimes you gotta hit rock bottom before you can climb out.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Captain: Thanks for your response on when they will start feeling enough
pain to recognize their own political needs. It does seem, however, that there
are virulent themes of hate which infect too many people and it is these
characteristics which lead them astray. Yes, you are quite correct in saying
there may not have been enough pain for enough people to be reflected in
today's opinion polls. However, I believe that time remaining in this campaign
will be an asset as events here and abroad will get through to more and more
people. I'm expecting a victory but the margin is still to be assessed.

Have you heard about the new ad released today? As reported by Salon:

    http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/

    This is ridiculous!!!

    CVA
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
that 'Messiah' business is straight out of rush limpball's foul mouth....

and you know what, all this does is preach to the choir that would never vote for Obama anyway....so how does that help McLoser?

I say keep those stupid ads coming. Anyone with a brain knows they're shit.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
"anyone with a brain"...unfortunately, alot of my coworkers think they are hilarious and accurate...that's the percentage I'm afraid of, those without a brain, voting for the 'funny guy'! :-)
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
houstonray: Ask some of those coworkers of yours if they know what the " funny guy " did while on the USS Forrestal which cost many their lives and about the punishment that the admirals' son/grandson received. Ask them if they know how many training planes he crashed and why he was allowed to fly again until the NVA put an end to his hillarity.
  • LunaStick · 1 year ago
That ad would be great if it were the Obama campaign releasing it. I mean all those inspiring images and adoring cheering crowds? Who wouldn't want those images being associated with their candidacy? ;-)

I'm beginning to wonder if RoveCo. is really out to sabotage the McCain campaign if they are advising him to release this drivel.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Rove only has one way to go to get McCain elected. McCain has to stay on the attack. The reason is that if Obama ever goes negative, then McCain has had it. McCain really DOESEN"T understand economics; he really IS a typewriter guy in a laptop world; He really DOESN'T know where the nearest grocery store to his house is; he really is CONFUSED about who is fighting who and where in the middle east. All of these things don't have to be made up; they're all true (possibly excepting the grocery store) , and they're all on video tape already to be inserted in Obama's ads. To me, it's not an attack ad if it's true. So Rove's strategy may be to fling enough mud at Obama to keep him off balance defending himself so that McCain can coast on thru. Obama's no favorite of mine either because he wants to put me out of business; but, that's another subject.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
...interesting. The Sun times is fairly right wing. Me thinks McSAME will implode if he keeps this up. We have real problems in the this country.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
They are right. McCain sounds grumpy, and envious of Obama.

I bet he'd do anything to get thousands of people turn up, just to hear him speak.
I bet he'd give anything to be able to speak so articulately, like Obama.
I bet he secretly wishes he had that charisma, and the ability to look presidential, just like Obama.

So what does he have to offer this country? Same failed policies, and the possibilities of a third Bush term. Add to it, he has hired the same vicious attack team, that Bush used, to turn out vicious ads against his opponent.
So what's different about this rethuglican?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
That new ad at Salon really is over the top. However there is some Rovian genius to it because it's an add that can't really be responded to; a response might open up whole new cans of worms.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Re: the latest McBush ad making it look like Obama thinks he's Moses/Jesus/God

don't the wingers love Charleton Heston? Doesn't the NRA believe Heston walked on water?

why in the name of Ben Hur would they link Obama with Moses, portrayed by their hero of all time.

these cutesie ads are really not working. good. keep it up.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
I think the debates might sink McSame. Watch them find a way not to debate.

Now a NEW ad has surfaced onto the internet from the Macain camp featuring Obama as the calling from God himself as the "One".

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

What more ridiculous ads will pop up on to the 'internets' and TV before the Macain base start to freak out?
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    The One = The AntiChrist.

The 21%ers will love it, but they are way ahead of McStupid in getting that meme out.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
PATHETIC! The McCain campaign has degenerated and is below the dignity of the office he seeks. This is, however, the attitude and approach McBush has always taken in school, the Navy, the Senate and now the campaign. His record is consistent as are the results which have often been tragic. Just wait until the mask is taken off this merry-making candidate. We have serious problems unfit for a fool.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
    here's an earlier one:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPARec32KMI

apparently McCain is the one who introduced the image of Obama's face on a bank note. that's right, mccain played the race card first. just in case you care.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Steve-in-CNJ: What is the source of this statement?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
i was referring to the mccain video which i linked you to. all irony aside, i don't think it was a race card. neither was obama's little chuckle that provoked mccain to say HE played the race card.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Steve_in_CNJ: thanks for the response. Plese do see my posting and the one which responded on the McCain "humor" on the USS Forrestal which resulted in tragic consquences..This man is as dangerous as he is incompetent.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
McCain's jokes have been costly-very costly. His prank on the USS Forrestal cost many their lives and the punishment was a transfer to another carrier. This man's record has not yet been revealed but I think the time is close for a revelation. His humor has often been deadly. Just ask his first wife how, why, and when he ditched her for a rich gal with much baggage and much $. A disgrace as a candidate whose own state is now ready to dump him.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Was that when McCain wanted to shoot flames out of his fighter jet on takeoff, to look like a hotshot, and wound up shooting flames right into another jet on the deck of the aircraft carrier, blowing it up and killing about 100 of his comrades?
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Bush-Bites gets the prize. When is THIS history going to be shown from coast to coast and over and over again? McCain is a dangerous man as his Republican colleagues have said on many occasions. Those who know him best fear him, and so it is time all Americans knew about the " happy warrior".
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
You got it right. This man is dangerous. It is, however, pathetic that
legacy connections exist whereby total lazy incompetents can do so much damage
to so many. Bush and McCain are two legacy gifts from Hell!

Yeah, "The One" ad is really going to help McFucknuts, with 51,000 new jobless claims, the home mortgage disaster getting worse, the banking system going under, GM almost ready to declare bankruptcy, the oil barons raking in ghastly amounts of blood money as people worry about how they can afford to go back and forth to work with wages that are barely higher than the cost of gasoline, the Iraq disaster still a quagmire that eats money like GWB used to snort coke, and on and on and on. Is this it? Is this all they have? Funny thing is, ever since McLame started this shit, Obama has received over 100,000 campaign contributions, including 33,000 new contributors. So keep it up, Gramps. Put a few more of these ads out so the Obama campaign can jack up their monthly total to about $75,000,000. And BTW, since when is it a bad thing to be compared to Moses? And did McLame and his idiot advisors ever think that the TRULY religious may be offended by this lamest of lame campaign ads? “So let it be written, so let it be done” (spoken hammily, like Charlton Heston in “The Ten Commandments”).
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
The recent slime ads introduced as McCain humor are a sad commentary on what his presidential campaign has become. Shame on McBush for his desperation tactics. The nation needs to answer the key question:

WANT MORE PAIN????? VOTE Mc CAIN!!!!!!!!!
  • bacalove · 1 year ago
In regards to Barack's statement that he did not look like those on the other dollar bills, I believe Barack was respondong to an ad The McCain Camp ran with Obama's face on the dollar bill; his face on the statue of liberty; and on all four faces of Mt. Rushmore!

It was depicted when the Ben Franklin and George Washington faces fade to show Obama's on the currency; Miss Liberty' face fades to Obama's and the four faces on Mt. Rushmore fade to Obama's! How come the Media is not reporting the WHOLE story?
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
as noted in one of the sage comments just below.

It's time that McCain stop baIting the press with his daily doze of HATE MONGERING!

BUT MORE IMPORTABLY,... IT'S THE THE PRESS STOPS TAKING THE BAIT AND SATOP TAKING THE EASY ROAD AND START DOING SOME REAL WORK!

As long as the press keep feeding at McCain's trough of hate... the more he's going to feed the bait to you guys, i.e the press!

IT'S TIME TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES NOT THE BULL SHIT!

The American people want and needs to know and under stand the differences between McCain and Obama, as well as the differences between the democrats and the republicans!

For starters the press might want to look into the fascist leanings that today's right wing, republican party and their christian enablers are endorsing of late!

may I just say that kathleen parker is one pathetic excuse for a syndicated columnist....

i'm all for women getting their stuff published in the newspaper, but please, not her tripe.
