The commercialization and every two year thing has ruined what used to be a very special event. China is just putting another nail in the coffin.

You would think that both Democrats and Republicans could agree on the idea of telling China to stick it in this case. But I guess the Republicans have to play nice with China since they own all of the debt that Dubya brought upon us.

    1. Cancel the Olympics permanently. This is as good time to do it as any. The money saved can go to many good causes in any of the countries involved.
Certainly boycott the Olympics if held as sheduled. Aslo investigate the site selection committee. What did their members get from China in return for the selection.

    2. Spell it out for China in no uncertain terms. They need to make visable concrete efforts to eliminate civil rights abuses including freedom of the press (internet). The world community is no longer going to turn a blind eye to these matters just so the chinese can save face. The need a good punch in the eye and a few kicks in the pants.

    3. The US needs to ban ALL imports of products and foodstuffs, (human or animal) until they can reliably learn how to manufacture and grow products that adhere to the criteria established. US companies who have farmed out manufacture to China and elsewhere need to be held accountable for ongoing testing and approval of the goods they import. Defective, harmeful, or products NOT meeting our criteria shouyld result in heavy fines in addition to recalls and reimbursements to the consumer.

BushWarCo Inc. will ALWAYS play nice to our Chinese bankers. If I remember correctly ol' Bush 41 was US Ambassador to China either before, during or after his long-time stint with the CIA. BushWarCo Inc. has been in bed with the Chinese for many, many years. 1-20-09 CANNOT come soon enough.

The Beijing government insists it has the right to name bishops who preside over the Catholic Church in China, it also claims authority to name the name next Dalai Lama, it holds the Panchen Lama hostage, and it censors CNN. Those are mild if totalitarian controls compared to the strangle hold they have over the people themselves. This is the country chosen by the Olympic committee to host the Olympic Summer Games. How strong are the Olympian gods, Zeus and Hera, Athena and Apollo, Hermes and Ares? When they smash China's mockery of Olympic Peace, will the Beijing government topple? Or will the gods strike down the Olympic committee and put an end to the charade?
