AMERICAblog: China creates new Olympic sport: Tibetan manhunt

  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
This is perhaps the best opportunity in a generation to focus world attention of the plight of the Tibetans. I hope something positive will be done.

Good time to watch Seven Years in Tibet, again.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
China out of Tibet or we boycott the Olympics.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Adolph Hitler was not happy with the German people during his last days in the Fuhrerbunker. That was impressive.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
    Boycott The Olympics.
  • kladinvt · 1 year ago
As the Olympic torch winds its' way around the world to China, protesters should greet it everywhere it travels & remind the world of China's support for Sudan & thereby the genocide in Darfur.
    Chinese Olympics = Darfur genocide!
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Again, what was Saddam doing that China doesn't do every single day?

Rodger Dodger. Ten Four. All that stuff.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Of course our corporate media whores will not boycott the Olympics.

There's way too much money at stake. The Olympics will be televised.

The oppression in Tibet will not.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Wow Tom3!

How'd you get negative 15 reputation points?

    (Whatever that means.)
  • Webster · 1 year ago
Probably the lurkers at CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS clicking away. They hate to be reminded that they spend their days with their legs up in the air for Republican politicians to stuff dollar bills up their wazoos.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
What China does NOT need right now is another Tiananmen Square .
  • jr · 1 year ago
Even the Bush junta's double standards have double standards
  • Webster · 1 year ago
As if anyone, anywhere, is going to listen to Bush--even if he were talking to them (which I highly doubt). Some may call China a "regional" power, but it just so happens they hold the world's purse-strings now--busy shipping lead-coated objects all around the world. China will do what it damn well pleases at this point--and they're certainly not going to listen to old incompetent lame-duck Bush.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Well, they might be a regional power if we'd quit turning them into a world power with our trade deals and our chronic debt that they snap up to keep us from getting too "unhappy."

The Bush story is a joke, by the way. Not even his buddies in China take the Chimp seriously anymore.

I certainly hope that any and all who can be in San Francisco on April 9th come out to the running of the Olympic Torch. China is extremely worried about protesters showing up here, as this is the only North American city in which the run is occuring. The mayor of SF is talking about creating "Free speech zones" for protesters, but many of us are reminding him, that unlike China, our entire country is a free speech zone, as specified in the Constitution. Come to San Francisco on April 9 and bring a sign to let China and the world know what you think of the state sponsored death and violence in Tibet.
  • cambridgemac · 1 year ago
Your comment is so 1990's. So pre-911. In NYC during the Republican convention, the protestors were locked up (and beat up) in small "free speech zones." We know about those, because they took photos of them. What we don't know about are the SIX THOUSAND secret trials that have taken place under Bush. Or the names of the 100,000 people on the no-fly list.

We DO know that Bush said of the Constitution, in 2005 "It's just a goddamned piece of paper."

Meanwhile, the Congressional Dems yawn and the corporate controlled conservative press gives handjobs to the Repukes.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
I'm thinking that China is to be declared part of Bush's Axis of Jesus.

Can we get them "Most Favored Nation" Status?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
If we'd quit buying China's plastic, oil prices would have to drop. Takes fuel oil to make plastic.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
didn't America used to boycott Olympics in countries like China? Oh.. thats right.. we arent America anymore.

Also, the government is saying Americans should "be cautious" at the Olympics and that the air quality will be piss poor because of all the pollution there.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
If the air quality is shitty, they'll qualify for major tax cuts.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
I seem to be attracting negative energy.

    Was it something I said?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
relax Tom3... there's probably just some spiteful asshat who realized they can pick on people now, so they're being childish.

    no biggie.

either that or... maybe its your cologne? ;-)

State Department says it was the retarded new guys that looked into McCain, Obama and Clinton's Passport information.

I believe every word of it. Takes a long time to teach students how to tap classified info. Remember when we found that spy in Cheney's office? ....of course the guy was working for Clinton first.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
    O/T
But even Chris Wallace from Fox has had enough of the Obama bashing on Fox (well at least for the time being)
You have to watch Chris take on the 3 fools on the Fox morning show.

Send Larry Craig to China...he'll have a reason to bow in front of the men. Damn Republicans.
  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Chris Walrus kisses Chimpy's butt, so it is interesting to see him bash other FOX Nazis. Isn't that Fox and Fiends the show with Karla Rove?

Last night, I had a positive rating and then someone systematically went through my comments and deleted a point from every single comment I had made. And I noticed it was done to several other people. In an environment like this one, such points are not particularly meaningful. Blog like you always blog and have fun.
  • SINGING_TROLL · 1 year ago
Take it as the badge of honor it is.
Groupthink has never appealed to me.
Actually, one of my goals in life is to stab holes in groupthink every chance I get.
    Love ya lady. Dr. LadyQ
  • Jump to the Left · 1 year ago
Yeah, I do think of it that way, thanks. ;)
And your irreverence for groupthink is one of the reasons I enjoy your commentary so much.

    Heh heh.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
Well, maybe it would help if you'd post your responses to comment under the comment they refer to, rather than making a "statement" and scattering them all over the thread. You may get your comment closer to the top, but no one knows what the hell you're referring to, unless they scroll through the whole thread and try to match them up.

I'm guessing that when you were a kid you held your breath a lot until you got your own way.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Took me 685 tries just to get here. I'm never leaving again. Disqus said I was signed in, commentor wanted further proof and a note from my Mom.

  • Jump to the Left · 1 year ago
I do, too, Dave. I would love to see some positive progress with Tibet. And like Kyoto, Bush is eager to jump off a train headed in the right direction.

I highly recommend reading Cina Road by former NPR Beijing Correspondent Rob Gifford. He travels across Route 312 From Shanghai to China's border with Kazakhstan. He likens it to traveling the US Route 66. I was fascinated and once again reminded of my ignorance of wordly matters. He is intimitely connected to the Chinese people and was very practical in summing up our complicated relationship with China. Plus he is funny!
  • devis1 · 1 year ago
Oops--make that CHINA Road by former NPR....

If ever a boycott was called for, it is China and the olympics.
