AMERICAblog: China refuses to guarantee free press during Olympics

  • Indigo · 1 year ago
"No one every lost money overestimating the ignorance of the American public." I think P.T. Barnum said that, maybe I dreamed it up. Anyhow, the point is Chris's point, "there is no low low enough for the American media . . ." It's wonderful how an ancient country like China can learn from our young country.

Well, the Olympic committee knew China's press was govt controlled, too.

No free press in China during the Olympics? Whatever will FOX News do? Will they be unable to give us their always FAIR AND BALANCED news reporting there??? And will ABC be unable to give us five million hours of coverage of every single American athlete with less than 5 seconds for all other athletes from all other countries? The American media's coverage of the last Olympics was so unspeakably horrible I would be thrilled if China banned all American journalists from China during the Olympics.

Wouldn't it be nice if the American media responded by telling China to fry ice, and to only send one reporter to cover the results for the athlete's families back home.

For everyone who despises American television (and who commenting here doesn't?), a radical idea. Trash your televisions and do without. We did it 30 years ago and believe me, you won't miss it. It's nice to sign petitions against ABC, but think how much bigger an impression it would make if thousands dumped their televisions at ABC headquarters and thousands more dumped theirs at Fox, under appropriate banners.
