"The more aggressive they are the more the governments shows everyone just how fragile their system really is. Is this what they really want to show the world?"

Reminds me of Bush's "Presidential Manual for Silencing Critics" at home, and his Bully them into Submission Policy abroad.

It will be interesting when the Bushies are the last holdouts of a worldwide Olympic boycott. Chinese leaders really have not embraced being pragmatic in situations like these.

This new comment system looks really nice. That is all. :)

Is this who we want to be doing business with and relying on as a critical trade partner?

    No.

    Seriously.

Bush_Bites I just saw the story too.

Well, China has the same kind of regime BushCo has been pushing for the last 8 years. 1400 people were lost in Hurricane Katrina, many of those from benign neglect by the Fascist Party. Not trying to underplay China's actions, which were horrible, just trying to put it into some perspective.

And if American corporations had any reservations about China, they've all been wiped out by the huge profits they are making. Slavemasters of the Universe.

The neocons are hell bent on destroying Obama. Here's a diary on dKos that places pastor Wright's rhetorical preaching in better context.

    Nancy Pelosi -- BRAVO!

Nancy Pelosi, has called on the international community to denounce China's rule in Tibet. -- and she spoke out while holding talks in northern India with the Dalai Lama.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7308169...

Nancy Pelosi has demonstrated enormous moral courage to speak out against the Chinese leadership in Beijing for ordering this latest brutal crackdown on the people of Tibet. The BBC article features a captivating picture of Nancy Pelosi with the Dalai Lama -- and I say good on her!

Much to his everlasting shame, Bush declared that he didn't intend to mix "politics" with athletic events and announced that he plans to attend the Olympics this summer -- how very typical!

    OLYMPICS -- BOYCOTT!

    Sarah B.,
Now that does call for a Bravo!
Funny how he won't mix politics and sports, but he's happy as a pig in mud to mix politics and religion.
    Not.

    Thanks for that link.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
But, Sarah, she hasn't had the moral courage to impeach Bush/Cheney...far easier to criticize other govts than to do what the Constitution requires.
  • Sarah B. · 1 year ago
    O and W

You are absolutely correct about Nancy Pelosi's failure to authorize the investigations of Bush and Cheney that would lead inevitably to impeachment -- the high crimes and misdemeanors and serial felonies are so vast and various -- and no one has been more critical of Madam speaker on that issue that I have been ever since the Democrats took charge of the House in 2007. Still, she does deserve credit for speaking out in such a public way to condemn the Chinese leadership for their brutal crackdown on the people of Tibet -- it really is beyond the pale.

BTW, I love your critical analysis of Disqus thus far -- especially the Ayn Rand comparison -- and my own initial experience getting set up with Disqus was similar to your own -- but now I think that I'm going to be able do business with this fancy new format. You really had me laughing out loud, though, and I don't do that often enough these I had forgotten how good it feels.

Still, I do miss the raw, crude, wild-west, four-letter words, and snarky character that Haloscan offers, but perhaps we will all revert to type once we get used to all the new bells and whistles -- I certainly hope so.
    :)

The White House Weasel seems to have a bottomless capacity for shame. Not only should the Olympics be boycotted but the US should have already banned and cancelled any and all imports from China, at least for a multiyear period. Then perhaps we could put an end to dangerous and defective goods and poisoned foodstuffs both human and animal. Yes, of course, the greedy corporations who order these thing from China to increase the bottom line at the exp[ense of the ultimate consumers are also to blame. But the Weasel has already done what he can to emasculate the protective agencies such as USDA and FTC that are intended to protect us. Hell, they can't even protect us from sick cows being inserted into the human food supply and that same meat foing intoe FEDERAL school lunch program or disease-bearing spinach being shipped all over the country. It IS shameful and the congress of both parties is responsible there. Note to ALL Congress Members: GET OUT OF BED WITH LOBBYISTS AND SPECIAL INTERESTS AND GET TO WORK FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ELECTED YOU!
Lots of blame lots of shame, but the White House Weasel is responsible: Can't afford more inspectors at home when we've got this immoral and illegal war to fight! Gotta bring freedom to the Iraqis and make sure Dirty Dick's buddies get plenty of lucrative no-bid contracts for oil and everything else

    Hey, there, Nigel!

I just reclaimed my traditional moniker from Disqus' authoritarian registration manager. So, that's one problem solved. What a relief!
(h/t) to Jump for sending me an email with instructions on how to do the deed -- it was way too easy.

Isn't it just fantastic that Bill RIchardson is going to endorse Barack Obama tomorrow? I love it!

    Take that, Superdelegates!
    :)

    Hiya Sarah B.

Check out this video I found in a comment in a diary on dKos. No wonder Fox News hate Obama's pastor. LOL

    Hey, Nigel!

    WOW!

Reverend Jeremiah Wright! ♥ You are the man!

And coming from this full-frontal atheist, that is quite a compliment! Rev. Wright rocks my political soul, and that's for sure!

    Jumpers!

It's so lovely to "B." me once again! Thanks so much for the wee tutorial.

I had so much trouble getting set up with Disqus. It absolutely won't work with IE 7, so I had to download Firefox -- which I already think I'm going to love -- so it's starting to feel like Disqus and I can do business. Hurray!
    :)

My pleasure. Kind strangers online on this very site helped me learn all kinds of things about blogging.

You will love Firefox I'm guessing. :)

    Did someone say superdelegates?

Just popping in to say hi -- using IE 7. :)

Jimmy Carter had the U.S. Olympic team boycott the 1980 games in Moscow because the Soviets had invaded Afghanistan. Maybe another boycott is in order. However, Bush will not do it as he needs China to bankroll his wars.

Wow, Pelosi actually did good yesterday. For the first time, I am really proud of the speaker.

A senior US lawmaker, Nancy Pelosi, has called on the international community to denounce China's rule in Tibet.

How does Daniel Ha get +146 points for only saying "Hi" and the rest of us, the more we post the more our numbers go into the negative dumper? This rating system is worthless. Will only cause those who disagree with others to flame on them anonymously.
  • Nellie Oleson · 1 year ago
He probably got his points from other sites, Grant. Or else, he knows someone on the inside. I wish I did. Everyone hates me.
  • Daniel Ha · 1 year ago
    You're right. I do. :)
  • Nellie Oleson · 1 year ago
If I gave you a blowjob could you bump my points up a bit? I'm not proud. I'll do what I have to do.

    Grant,
Daniel works for DISQUS, and he solves problems...

There are a couple of commenters on this site who are systematically deducting a point from every comment made my certain posters. You are one of those lucky commenters. However, you are in good company. It is happening to several people. I've spent over an hour adding points back to people who have been slammed like that. You are correct, as long as there are people spending their time systematically doing that to discredit and silence commenters they have a grudge against for some reason, the points are not particularly meaningful. I take it as a sign that you have gotten under someone's skin. Your comments have always been very insightful and a wonderful contribution. I would ignore it, and assume that John will find a solution.

But then again, trolls have never much bothered me.

South Carolina seems a lot more like China, too...

    http://news.aol.com/story/_a/south-carolina-cop...

And check out the typical white comments, BTW. These folks were suspects, and the cops wanted to go ahead and convict and execute them.

I work here in Tokyo in a university with a strong China connection. I keep getting invited to official embassy events, but the first one I went to was enough to turn me off for, well, my present life at least. Sorry, but I find their officials more squirm inducing than your average earthworm.
