AMERICAblog: Chris Matthews not running for PA Senate

  • tlsintx · 10 months ago
excellent decision, Chris Matthews. now, rename your show "Spitball" and it'll all be perfect.

    lol.

As a resident of Pennsylvania I thank you.
  • Rob Mule · 10 months ago
I hear, Tweety's now insisting Sanjay Gupta tandoori his chicken...
  • Indigo · 10 months ago
    U b way bad! Ha-ha-ha. LOL !

Hard to trade in a salary in the millions for around $170,000 (even with all the extras thrown in). It all boils down to money in the end for his type.

We don't need him anyway. So, who's going to run against Spectre? (snark)
  • Polly_Tics · 10 months ago
Money AND glory. I think he's a bit of a raging egomaniac and papers just don't have the same fame quotient as ones own news show, albeit on cable.
  • Indigo · 10 months ago
So now there's an I'm-not-running column? Add my name to it.
  • An_American_Karol · 10 months ago
I would rather have Tweety than Specter, but I don't live in Pennsylvania.
I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of Sen Feinstein for years, maybe he can run here. lol
  • Polly_Tics · 10 months ago
Heck, Tweety used to have a column in the Examiner (or Chronical), so maybe it's possible...but I believe that Feinstein is one of his "very best favorite Senators". I seem to remember he referred to her as one of the few "grown up's in the Senate, so that alternative doesn't look too good for us needy Californians.

Pssst, how the heck are you? Been awhile!
  • Polly_Tics · 10 months ago
Whereas I would love to get a nice shiny new Democrat in Specter's seat, I'm not sure that Matthews would be the one to win it. That said,Tweety does have a some sort of prized but very limited space in our viewing habits.

I am glad he's staying where he is instead of actually doing combat in the Senate. I fear he would play on the right far more than on the left.

Matthews doesnt know which way to suck up from one day to the next its either tom (despicable) delay or that jack ass bobby rush

and another thing he does somethin that is one of my biggest pet peves talking over ppl or interupting ppl when there talking just to spew whatever crap floats out from between his ears Im just waiting for someone to call him on it or just get up and slap him upside the head for doing it

Reid, Feinstein and McConnell will be deprived of an ally. Sad, really . . . .
  • zorbear · 10 months ago
He's done this before - says he's going to run one day, and NOT going to run the next. I wonder if this time he means it?

This "run/not run" has had an effect on his show. When he's "running", he tears the Repuglicrats apart on his show - when he's NOT running, he lets them get away with the most god-awful lies...

If the NOT running is permenant, I guess that means the Repug's got their old mouthpiece back.
  • Hooray! · 10 months ago
Maybe there is a God! I definitely did NOT want to vote for Specter (it would have been the first time in several opportunities) - but I might have felt forced to do so.
  • timncguy · 10 months ago
probably a good decision on his part. Can you imagine all the fodder he has created on his show that the repugs could use in commercials against him. 1st onthelist would be his proclaiming the warm fuzzy feeling he gets running up his thigh when Obama speaks. LOL
  • EmGD · 10 months ago
People bag on Matthews, but was he really going to be worse than Arlen "I found my principles now that a Democrat is in the White House" Specter? I don't care how bizarre and Clinton-obsessive he is, there's no possible way he can have less integrity or spine then Specter.

except for the inconvenient fact that Specter would win the contest. The dems should put someone in that contest that could WIN.

They just canceled the contract to provide slickers for all front row audience members at his rallies.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 10 months ago
Yes! A thrill just ran up my leg at this news.
  • teammarty · 10 months ago
The thing that sucks is that he'd be one of the most liberal Senators.
