AMERICAblog: Claire McCaskill blasts the McCain/Palin campaign: “stumbling, erratic, all over the map”

  • pluky · 1 year ago
Dred Scott! Who knew irony could be so sweet?
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Good on Claire McCaskill....

This calling people unAmerican crap is just like when they called anyone who didn't support the Iraq War of not supporting the troops.....This is kid stuff.

This Administration has dishonored our troops by flying their bodies into Dover Air Force Base at night so as to be out of sight.

The whole level of this Administration and the McCain campaign is ridiculous and so very immature....the media should laugh in their faces when they make these outrageous comments.

The GOP needs to grow up and act like adults.
  • samiinh · 1 year ago
You are absolutely correct that today's GOP is childlike...they have become the bullies in the schoolyard. How un-American. (BTW, Backmann looks like she's been doing a lot of meth).
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
Across Missouri, 175,000 turn out for Obama. The best McCain can do is one-tenth of that number.
  • lilyannerose · 1 year ago
"Hold nothing back. We need to crush them -- up and down the ticket. Crush them."

You say "crush" I say "grind" em into the ground and then bury their dust deep.

I want an end to them, I want a healthy and robust America to arise, where I don't feel the need to say GRIND EM TO DUST.

Does anyone have a link to video of Obama's speech or at least portions of it, in St Louis or Kansas City? I'd love to see the crowd and it's response. 175,000 people! In MISSOURI!!! How freakin cool is that?!?!
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
If you go to this link you can see the entire speech. This is KSDK TV in St. Louis. Great coverage.

    OT

Just finished watching MTP and for once I was just stunned. No not about Colin Powell but over something that just rolled out of Andrea Mitchell's mouth. She claimed that Obama is running the MOST NEGATIVE AD and because of the Obama's money the ad is hitting millions of Americans

Her IDEA of most negative ad---the one tying McCain to Bush using McCain's own words on voting 90% of the time with George Bush. For gods's sake, an ad that tells the truth is NEGATIVE? Oh forget about robo calls, forget about guilt by association, forget about racism from leading Republicans. None of that seems to matter to Mitchell, she is appalled by Obama's negative ads.

Mrs G. knows her husband's reputation is going down Joe the Plumber's toilet, day by day. She has got a vested interest in propping up the GOP "brand."
  • GrMtGirl3 · 1 year ago
Mitchell just demonstrates the intellect of most of these desperate Republicans. They are L O S I N G so all they have left are lies and smears!

Yesterday at our get out the vote rally (an all day affair) in Aztec NM, a group of McCain thugs and hooligans attacked our rally. They wrote on our signs we had placed in front of the building we were using. Then they tore them out of the ground and threw them into a crowd of our volunteers inside the building. Screaming obscenities and epithets. This on "Main Street" of our small town. A street where 20,000 or more cars pass daily. The police were called and after an hour finally showed up because they received a complaint that our workers were in the street! They even berated us for calling them. Fascism still thrives, I will work to crush them and change the course of this nation and my city.

    Ah, the "Real Americans."
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
Exactly! They know they are behind and are angry and desperate, just like their fuhrer.

It isn't quite that bad in Denver but bricks keep being thrown through the windows at the Democrat office downtown.

I'm glad Team Obama is going after Missouri.

Considering their primary performance there, I figured they probably had a good organization in the state.

Now it's just a matter of tipping it in.

Oh, aquarius, my friend, fuck Mrs. Alan Greenspan and her opinions.

Someone should inform her that not only is McBush's judgment very questionable in picking some obscure governor for her looks and reactionary appeal over any other Rethug woman with far more intelligence and experience (is that an oxymoron, being Rethug and intelligent?),but that Palin not only has no foreign policy experience or even exposure to it, but she knows very little about the United States outside of Alaska, and certainly nothing about the US Constitution. Obviously she isn't aware that most people in the US live in cities, not backwater towns like Wasilla who picked their mayor because she was in a beauty contest and supports the AIP.

And they laughed, when Bush said he was a "uniter". Well it looks like he was right. 100K in St Louis can't be wrong!

I was at the rally in Kansas City and it was amazing. The Liberty Memorial is on a hill with his stage right in front of it. The line started in front went down and around the hill. Then back up towards the front again and continued down the access road behind it. Around 4:30 the fenced in area in front of the stage was full and it was all out chaos for a couple of minutes. The thousands of people still in line, started to run towards the sides in order to be able to stand outside of the fence. Unfortunately because of the chaos, I never got any real good pictures. But once he started to speak, everyone paid attention and applauded at all of the TRUTH that was spoken that evening. I was privileged enough to be standing next to some elderly African-American women that were so overjoyed that a black man was able to attract this crowd of all color and generations. It was one of the most amazing things I have seen in my life. I hope that the rest of Missouri will see the truth and pull it out for Obama.

I have to tell you, I got goosebumps and a little choked up when I saw the photos of that crowd in front of our next President. I'm starting to feel proud and hopeful again - like I did when JFK was elected - my first year in college.

If Hillary had done even one-tenth as much, as effectively, to serve as Obama surrogate since July...
  • empath · 1 year ago
There is a lot more than the usual politics happening in this election.

Joe Biden was in NM this weekend. You can view a slide show of the large crows here. http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/nmhome
Compare this crowd to the lily-white McCain/Palin propaganda rallies.
  • mungobuh · 1 year ago
Claire McCaskill is my GURL!! The crowd absolutely cheered when she blasted Palin for those remarks!

I didn't realize the history behind that court house. These images should make everyone proud of this country. In light of that historical context, I'd like to share a comment I left on HuffPost yesterday in reply to someone trolling there. The first part is his/her original comment, the second part is my reply.

My immediate thought when I see this picture of the Obama rally in St Louis is of pigs lining up to get their snouts into the public feeding trough first. They're all pushing and shoving for their government handouts and entitlements that they'll get under Obama.

Yeah, that's right. That's all we care about, getting ours. You people can only think in terms of what's good for you personally. That you can witness a vivid, historic demonstration of America evolving and overcoming racism and so glibly denounce the people who support that says so much about you and your decadent, decaying Conservative vision. I would guess that many in that crowd of humanity you find so personally distasteful actually have hope in a vision of a better life for their children than the one your overlords have delivered to us these past eight years. But I'd also guess that their hopes for a better America contain a certain degree of caution and reserve, knowing that no single person can do it alone. Unity and community aren't trifles to be sneered at. If you want to talk about pigs at a trough, you should be looking at Wall Street and the types who came rushing through the gates of deregulation. Because you've mistaken their values for ours.

Well, yes, and Scott vs Sanford led to Abraham Lincoln's Freeport Doctrine. He asked Stephen Douglas the question that ultimately decided the presidency in 1860. If the Congress may not outlaw slavery in the territories (such as the Missouri Compromise), when can the people decide to outlaw slavery? Douglas had to answer the institutions set up would decide the issue. In other words, slavery could not exist where it was not wanted. It helped Douglas win reelection in the Illinois legislature (as they voted for senators at the time) but it damaged his standing in the Southern States, who ultimately refused to support him in 1860. By that time, Southerners wanted to protect slavery, even if it were not wanted. Thus, Lincoln then won in a plurality. Dred Scott, along with Bleeding Kansas, had so eroded popular sovereignty that in two years, it was effectively dead. Douglas would live only to 1861, another irony had he been elected!

"Keep this up for 16 more days and we will change the world."

How about changing the States first. The rest of us will be quite satisfied if you can accomplish that.
