Obama has handled his the largely trumped-up Wright issue with integrity and authenticity, instead of ...'vast rightwing conspiracy' responses. How refreshing. So go ahead Hillary. Let the SDs decide who they'll support going forward.

Clinton takes lead over Obama in Gallup poll
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has moved into a significant lead over Barack Obama for the first time in weeks in the race for the party nomination, according to a Gallup poll.
The March 14-18 national survey of 1,209 Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters gave Clinton, a New York senator, a 49 percent to 42 percent edge over Obama, an Illinois senator. The poll has an error margin of 3 percentage points.
Gallup said it was the first statistically significant lead for Clinton since a tracking poll conducted February 7-9, just after the Super Tuesday primaries. The two candidates had largely been locked in a statistical tie since then, with Obama last holding a lead over Clinton in a March 11-13 poll.
Gallup said polling data also showed presumptive Republican nominee John McCain leading Obama 47 percent to 43 percent in 4,367 registered voters' preferences for the general election. The general election survey has an error margin of 2 percentage points.
The Arizona senator also edged Clinton 48 percent to 45 percent but Gallup said the lead was not statistically significant.

Just another example of total incompetence at Team Hillary. They can't manage their money (and they want to manage ours???), and they mishandle this smear campaign, launching it after it's too late to make any difference for them. Guilt by association? based on their own logic, we can all safely assume Hillary is a moron based on the advisors she has allowed to destroy her campaign. The poor woman will not only lose a nomination practically handed to her a year ago, she and her husband will have destroyed their legacy forever with the only people that defended them through the 90's.

This poll shows that Mccain is ahead of Obama and tied with Clinton. Obama is done with, stick a fork in him.
If we dont' denounce the hate-mongers like Wright, then we're no better than the Christian Right. Plus, Obama is gonna lost in the GE because he is still attached to a bigot.

and this poll was before Obama's speech. His numbers are already rising according to Rasmussen...Wright is not the candidate...and the hateful conservative response to Wright will backfire magnificently.

You really bought the Dean Scream Koolaid, didn't you?
Sure, the bootlicking Zionazi Media will play Rev Wright's comment, taken out of context, over and over, just so idiots like you, who are also too lazy to investigate what the fiery minister was actually talking about, will swallow this shit, hook, line, and stinker! Is there ANYTHING Christian about the way we treat others in the world, after we have already been so BLESSED!?

Two of Houston's most respected pastors support their friend, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. One is Rev. William Lawson of the Wheeler Ave. Baptist Church, one of Houston's largest black churches. He said:
"They've known about Wright for 40 years," Lawson said. "They suddenly decided they had to slow Obama down. They couldn't find a prostitute. They couldn't find his hands in the offering tray. So they thought they'd find some bad association. They'd tie his hands to a pastor who's supposedly racist. Wright wasn't the target. Obama was the target."
BTW, Rev. Lawson preached the funeral of disgraced Enron CEO Ken Lay here even though many distanced themselves from Lay. But Ken Lay gave a lot of money to the Wheeler Avenue Church over some years to help them with their struggles. Rev. Lawson considered Ken Lay a friend, and friends don't forsake friends.
Unfortunately for the Clintons and McWar fundies, by the time Obama goes head to head with McWar, the nonsense over Rev Wright will be over (except for those with a stake in peddling hate and division, of course). I look forward to seeing Obama and McWar talk about their respective visions for the future of this country side to side. No freaking contest.

"Yesterday, Barack Obama delivered one of the best speeches in modern political history."
Only if "modern political history" means yesterday.

It is beyond sad to see this. unfortunately for the Clinton's, they will not not only fail in destroying Obama or the movement for people powered politics, but they will fail in maintaining their once held place as leaders of our party. What a tragic waste of a promising legacy.
BTW- thanks John for changing this post system. It was was too easy for the paid trolls to come in here posing as HRC supporters to stir up crap.

I dropped everything I was doing and was riveted to the speech, with a sense that history was being made. I wrote a letter to my local newspaper, the Kennebec Journal (among others) and said:
"It was a wonderful and brave speech Obama gave on religion and race, (except for the Israel-kow-towing, of course). But... Right at the beginning, Obama could have pointed out that the Teachings of Jesus, introduced to him by Rev Wright, do NOT stop at the boundaries of THIS COUNTRY, or, for that matter, the adherents to THIS Religion! THAT, I believe, was the point the fiery Reverend Wright was making. God has already BLESSED this country so much..and look what we've done with it! ...but of course, like the Dean Scream, the Zionazi Media has taken his "God Damn America" comment completely out of context and trumpets it ad Nauseum, propaganda-meisters that they are! "
Well, this morning I got a note from editor Naomi Shalit, that they would not publish it because of "Inappropriate comments", meaning the last part. I wrote her back, "Yes, the TRUTH is often so INCONVENIENT, isn't it? " and suggested she use "Bootlicking" Media instead!

Even though most of the Letters to the Editor in the Houston Chronicle are the same old, same old attacks we hear from the Obama haters, I thought this one from a Christian perspective this morning was good. BTW, I am an atheist but raised in the church, I can understand:
Why he didn't disown Wright
Many Americans saw in Barack Obama's speech Tuesday the personification of something we rarely see, leadership. When most politicians would have run the other way and hoped that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy would fade, this man took it on head first and challenged us to face racism, not for the sake of feeling anger or guilt, but in a way that shows us that we can move beyond it.
For those who say his speech did not go "far enough," "Why did he keep going to that church?" they say. "Why didn't he throw the reverend under a bus?" "You don't pick your grandmother, but you do pick your pastor," they say. I'll tell you why: It's called Christianity. If you are a Christian, you would surely under-stand that the person who brought you to the path of salvation is part of your family. When you owe your awakening to salvation to a man, you don't disown him! Furthermore, you know that your entire church is your church family. This church family is more than the pastor.
Our heavenly gift is the grace of forgiveness, but it does not come without the expectation that we will forgive our fellow Christians. This is why Obama will not throw Wright under a bus. Forgiving those who cause harm is a value expected of someone who is mature in his faith.
Exactly! The real message here is that the Teachings of Christ do NOT stop at THIS country's boundaries...this country that has been so richly blessed, and look what they've been doing to the rest of the world! That was the message the fiery minister was bringing...except our bootlicking media took his "God Damn America" completely out of context, a la Dean Scream, and played it ad nauseum, so stupid people who are too lazy to research the entire sermon would get their panties all in a bunch, and justify to themselves the stupidity of voting Republican again! If people left a church every time a minister said something they disagreed with or found offensive, they would soon run out of churches to go to. A church is a community. The minister is not the church. The church usually was there before the minister and will be there after him/her.
We've become hysterical about the 9/11 event. Yes it was shocking, tragic, maddening, and deserving of a quick military response. But why did it happen if not for our foreign policies? I don't think it was because "we love freedom and they hate freedom." Between the flag pins, "freedom fries," and reaction to anyone who might suggest our policies may have made enemies, we've gone completely over the edge. And Iraq didn't have anything to do with 9/11. How on earth can we overlook a president who has taken us into a war based on lies and greed and worry about something the minister of Obama's church said? I think we are going stark raving mad.
