AMERICAblog: Clyburn's "outrage"

  • jimfromthefoothills · 1 year ago
John, has Shrilllary ever denounced and rejected racists who would not vote for a black man?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    I doubt it.

That's pretty much been her base in many states.

Are the superdelegates not paying attention, or are they so afraid of the Clintons? They could solve this whole thing by declaring for Obama. Rachel Maddow is right. 90 more supers could declare, and then Obama could give Hillary everything she wants with regard to Florida and Michigan.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
They're afraid of the Clintons, period. Also, they're trying to divide the baby in half, so to speak - this way, they think, they don't offend Hillary or Obama, by not choosing. Except of course, we're now offended.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
So the Clintons are fear itself.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
    Spiteful and vindictive.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
The Superdelegates can stop this before May 31.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
The undeclared superdelegates are typical politicos: cowards and holding out for positions in the new administration. The US has some posh embassies around the world.

  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
They aren't going to get anything if McCain wins the election.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Donna Brazile? Where are you? Do you feel betrayed because you supported thes hillbilly fucks in the past? Do you feel a little dirty and confused? Redeem yourself NOW!
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Do not be surprised that Clinton has been whispering in the ears of the SDs: "Vote for me because everyone knows Obama will be assassinated in four years, easy."
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Clinton: Vote for me in case Obama is assassinated in June. If you don't vote for me, then my supporters will withhold DNC donations. Or, we'll pay you $1 million to vote for me.

Take your pick, all of it is offensive.

Rep. Cardozo of California switched from Hillary to Obama yesterday. He is supposedly part of a group of 40 who plan to come out a few at a time over the next couple of weeks---for Obama.
According to Kos, Obama needs only 56 more delegates and the nomination is his.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Actually, I wrote about this yesterday. That group said that they'll announce their endorsements sometime between now and the convention - now and the convention! - so heroes they aren't.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
My understanding is the same as Anon123's below. I think they are sticking to a plan.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Even the worst President in US history, Bush, did not utter that word assassination during his nasty campaigning.

What is wrong with this witch? What is wrong with these damn SD's?
Annie Oakley is speaking of violence, and such statements should be
    condemned by the Democratic party.

What kind of idiots are pushing for Hillary to get the VP slot?
Can't they see that she is so divisive, and that Obama's chances of
winning the presidency, would fail, if this despicable woman is made VP?
  • jr · 1 year ago
everyone's so afraid of Hillary's crybaby big donors
  • anon123 · 1 year ago
John, read this comment on MetaFilter. It's long, but you can skip to the last couple paragraphs. Two things: first, Al Giordano (apparently in the know about these things) is breaking a story about the Cardoza 40 (superdelegate gang from California) beginning to SWITCH, not merely declare. Second, that MetaFilter poster notes that the superdelegate count has essentially stalled in the runup to the final primaries this coming Tuesday, and speculates that maybe in fact Obama WANTS it to play out this way - to creep up to the "magic number" of delegates by winning a primary rather than through a deluge of supers. And then the supers can all pile on and make the MI/FL thing moot. So in other words, maybe it's actually all playing out according to the plan. Let's hold onto our hats until Wednesday morning, and if the supers still refuse to declare, I'll be every bit as outraged as you.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I watched a Nancy Pelosi interview a couple days ago and sensed she was subtly hinting that this will be the case.

    ----

    That does make sense politically.

Then Hillary can't go bitching that the Supers stole it from her.

(I know she's been begging the Supers to steal it from Obama for the past several months, but it's not beyond her to take two totally contrasting positions depending on the circumstances---in fact, she's done it all Spring.)

Undeclared Superdelegate = SuperCoward. Pass it on.
  • RickTaylor · 1 year ago
We have no idea what's going on. The Obama campaign has been artful in its timing and use of endorsements; for all we know Clyburn's offered and Obama is keeping it in his back pocket for when the time is right. Regardless, it's been clear for a while where Clyburn stands.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Yes, and in the meantime, Hillary can stew in her own juice whilst others prolong the agony. Line up with your forks my friends.
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
This does make the most sense...Maybe after June 3 there will be a flurry of supers. Obama could still give Hillary, just give her Michigan and Florida. Then she can't go to then convention and can't bitch about voter disenfranchisement.

Maybe this is why Hillary has jumped the shark. She's been played, and knows it.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
It's no surprise that an uncommitted superdelegate would actually have to boldness to sound off against Hillary's comments and remain uncommitted. These people are the definition of cowards.
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Just how outraged are you Rep. Clyburn? Enough to vote for a candidate?
  • LeslieB · 1 year ago
Didn't Senator Reid and DNC Chair Dean say they had a plan, this wouldn't go past the first week of June?

So, uh, what's the plan? Just asking....
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Not linked in with Hillary's plan I hope.
  • Wisconsin Liberal · 1 year ago
The same type of plan to stop the war, NONE!

    "[B]eyond the pale?"

How about into the midnight of the heart of darkness.
  • SociologistTina · 1 year ago
I disagree strongly with his statements about being "beyond the pale." But I really wish you'd stop saying "What is wrong with you?" I think that kind of talk is extremely disrespectful, and it adds nothing to the discussion.

A little bit of civility goes a long way.
  • cmpnwtr · 1 year ago
Clyburn threatened to endorse Obama in SC primary. I don't know why he didn't and why he won't but it looks to me like a whole of enabling the worst kind of behavior.
  • AnalyticalLiberal · 1 year ago
I suspect that Clyburn is looking for a political payoff from the Clintons if somehow Hillary can steal the nomination and get herself elected President. Maybe he wants to be a federal judge, or an ambassador, or a cabinet secretary. OR, he may just be a tool and is afraid he will lose his balls to the "Hillary Nutcracker" if he chooses to back Obama. Just sayin' ....
  • Gary SF · 1 year ago
Hey, we all knew that Clinton had the presidency in her 'sight.' We just assumed that it wasn't a gun sight.
